Former terror czar Richard Clarke says it's fairly safe to assume if your software was made in China, they've given themselves the option of checking up on you.
3As for that first one, when I was at the Olympics this summer, several family members with me had their Skype conversations with stateside relatives cut off when they started talking about the 70-year old Chinese women who were sent to "reeducation by labor" camps for "illegal" protests. The first time it happened we thought it was a coincidence, but by the 4th time we knew they were listening.
