McCain Will Participate in Debate, Campaign Says Sen. John McCain will attend the first presidential debate, scheduled for Friday night, his campaign announced. McCain said earlier this week he would not attend the debate if an agreement had not been reached on a $700 billion bailout plan for Wall Street. The campaign said the Republican presidential nominee believed that enough progress had been made for him to travel to Mississippi to participate in the debate, set for 9 p.m. ET at the University of Mississippi campus.

8That's indecision you can believe in, who's got a good drinking game for tonight?
1 shot for everytime McLame says he's a "Maverick"
1 shot for everytime McLame says "The Economy is Fundamentally Strong"
1 shot for everytime McLame mentions he was a POW
1 shot for everytime McLame bangs both of his fists on the podium
2 shots for everytime McLame says he's the candidate for "Change"
I'm soo glad I don't have to work tommorrow
9As much as I'm excited that the debate is still on (WHOO-HOO). BUT. I'm actually very disappointed with McCain's decision to go back and forth like that. He just lost a huge points in my undecided household who are still weighing both parties. McCain seems very impulsive and this is what I don't like at all about his character.
I mean, I understand that the Dems are jabbing at McCain (it's very obvious if anyone watched the news from yesterday and this morning), but seriously, he shouldn't have pointed the blame at them, I mean, if he really believes in what he's doing, he should STAY in Capitol Hill regardless the jabs and criticism he's receiving from Dems and some media. He should've done the right thing.
10Oh well. At least, we don't have to change plan tonight.
LOL metrostylee - if I play that way I think I'll have to get my stomach pumped
11Wow...with those rules, we're going to be really drunk.
In other news, from what I've read a lot more progress had been made before he showed up.
12I thought tonight's debate is about Foreign policy, how can McCain inject "maverick" or "economy fundamentally strong?" But it's funny just the thought of it, I'd be playing that game during economic debate for sure so I'll get really really sloshed.
13Oh -- so he's done with screwing up the bailout -- good.
14I was going with -when either candidate mentions change- drink. But I thought that was too dangerous. I like those metro but I need to get conservatives on here to give me some obama ones. haha.
15I want to have a party and may have some conservatives over so I have to be fair!
I was hoping McCain wouldn't come so he'd look like even more of a dope, but I guess I'm excited to see the debates.
I heard on the news that yesterday McCain showed up to the negotiations 25 minutes before they basically reached that tentative agreement. Oy.
16Metro - Sounds good! How about a drink for every time Obama says "uh"?
I think with that rule only we should be pretty much on par with all of yours
17And drink a shot if you hear Obama say:
"enough is enough"
18"era" or "eight years"
"difficult days/difficult times"
anything about his mother
"change we need"
"Main street" followed by "wall street"
anything on Mccains time in washington like "quarter of a century" "ole boy network" along those lines.
"folks"
"sacrifice"
"greedy corporate interests"
"out of this mess"
oh and "cmon"
19Hey, I'm up for liquor ANY time. Bring on the tequila, while we're at it! I'm looking forward to the VP debates, too. Man, I should start stocking up on the bottles now!
20"I'll find some and get back to ya".
Wow, I am REALLY craving a vodka tonic now. Thanks, guys.
21The McCain campaign already has ads out declaring McCain the winner of the debate.
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2008/09/mccain_wins_debate.html
22He's gotta stick with his usual talking points, grampy McSame obviously can't multi-task. He'll probably steal some of Obama's talking points through the course of the night for lack of anything new to say.
23"The McCain campaign already has ads out declaring McCain the winner of the debate."
Why doesn't this surprise me?
24Haha, I'd take Obama using "Uh" to formulate a thoughtful and concise statement about America's current problems vs. the grand standing and out of touch talking points that McCain spews on a daily basis.
25Sooo fair minded.
26liliblu, the republicans don't have to be right they just have to be LOUD!
27It's funny because Obama's been ripped on both for being too good of a speaker, too smooth, and also for being too awkward.
28metrostylee - Hey, how about a shot for every "my friends"?
29I'm so happy. I can't wait for tonight. I have family that is going and I am so jealous. I have to go home and cook.
30Wow @ McCain already declaring himself a winner. That's a little disappointing.
311 shot for everytime McLame says he's a "Maverick"
1 shot for everytime McLame says "The Economy is Fundamentally Strong"
1 shot for everytime McLame mentions he was a POW
1 shot for everytime McLame bangs both of his fists on the podium
2 shots for everytime McLame says he's the candidate for "Change"
I'll seriously do this, but I probably won't make it past the first hour.
32he's a good speaker when there is a teleprompter, absoluetly, but without he's always been far less.
i'm sure he's worked on that a lot though, but we'll see how it pans out.
33I'm really hoping that sometime soon Citizen and Liberty will realize how frustrating all the name calling is and ban it from these discussions. How about it, ladies?
34Are you baking cupcakes for the debate, haufrau?
35Can I have some?
CaterpillarGirl - i think we can add "more of the same" to your list.
36I am thinking that someone posted the ad too early, as in it was prepared for tommorow but ooops.
37Ohh nice- I am going to be nice and liquored up tonight.
LOL at "my friends"
I dislike Hausfrau's avatar. And no, not because it says McCain Palin.
It makes me crave cupcakes EVERY TIME I look at it!
38Haus, what is sooooo fairminded?
39The latest Gallup Poll shows that Obama and McCain are tied at 46%.That's such a surprise after the rough two weeks McCain has had.
http://www.gallup.com/poll/110668/Gallup-Daily-Race-Back-Tie-46-Each.asp...
40LOL -- so McCain won -- got to love that confidense! So I guess he better win now. Man who's running this man's campaign???
41
how could the polls be tied???
42if you don't have confidence in yourself, who will.
43liberalonmymind the new gallup out today shows obama up by 3. and all the polls out in the past couple days show a movement towards obama in the swing states including virgina where in a poll he is up by 5!! obviously this stunt that mccain pulled didnt sit too well with the public. i said it on another thread, the only way mccain would have missed this debate is if he overslept taking one of his pre-debate naps that he has been doing. im glad that the debate is going forward but this whole dog and pony show that mccain has been putting on for the past two weeks(including his stunt of 'suspending' his campaign) just goes to show how what kind of president he would be. i had a feeling that this would blow up in his face and make him look bad. now if its to be believed they want to postpone the VP debate(feel free to correct me, that was the word yesterday)which in my mind would cement the fact that palin was a purely political choice and not because of what she knows. on a lighter note i bet the first time mccain says 'my friends' will be within 5-10 minutes, lol. let the games begin, i cant wait!!!!
44"The McCain campaign already has ads out declaring McCain the winner of the debate"
LOL! McCain's latest move to try to be first to do something.
Last to announce his VP
Last to allow his VP to talk to reporters
Last to admit to the need for regulation
Last to admit their is a problem with the economy
Last to the party in Washington to try to figure this thing out
Arrives after an agreement is on the table and blow it with partisan temper and rhetoric.(my fav is the pic of him marching around with a frown and his fists clenched..very helpful)
Last to jump on the band wagon for the debates
At least let him be first to declare debate victory
45Last to announce his VP ...was it a race? if Obama announced his after McCain I dont think McCain supporters would be whining about that do you?
Was not last to admit need for regulation, or that there is a problem with economy.....where are you getting this?
46He waited to announce his VP pick to see if Obama would pick Hillary.
47ImaBeliever, I like your style ^5
48Remember when Palin said "...as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where -- where do they go? It's Alaska."? I think a majority of you will find this picture funny!

For everyone who bashes Obama for saying "Uh," please enjoy.
