China's president was on hand to see the astronauts off on their riskiest mission to date. China became the third nation ever to put a man in space in 2003. - Civilians Flee Violence in Somalia:
Thousands are fleeing the capital of Somalia following fighting between AU peace keepers and insurgents have left 50 dead since Monday. Aid workers say between 15,000 and 18,000 have fled the city and are now living in terrible conditions in makeshift camps. Aid will likely not reach the needy as conditions in the country are too dangerous for agencies to operate.

More than a week into the economic crisis, and AFTER McCain 'suspended' his campaign, Bush decides to warn us that we're in a serious economic crisis. Does anyone still think that 50 years from now Bush will be seen as one of our greatest presidents?

5sorry that was uncalled for! to be serious for a moment. i think it's really tacky that bush has interfered with this campaign - asking mccain & obama to meet wtih him was SO CLEARLY an attempt to make it look as though either of them are actually needed in washington to deal with this man-made crisis. i hope that rick davis story finally makes it to the front page today since mccain did his best to sweep it under the rug with his headline-grabbing display of whatever-the-heck-that-was yesterday.

It would be awful if he didn't and it's a good move regardless of who is at fault, to not take them into account would be even more criticized than him calling them to Washington.

Last night McCain cancelled on Letterman, yet...Dave had a clip of him getting some spackle put on his face in preparation for an interview with Katie Couric. (Seriously, that Letterman clip is PRICELESS. Lesson of the day? Don't blow off Letterman, because he will find you.)
8i heard bush talk about meeting with the senators today and hopefully they will all play nice and make progress on the financial debacle that we're in.
wow this is probably something that's really big and impressive with the Chinese space program and i hope that they are able to get some great learnings of their own from this. i am always impressed with any country that is able to do what we do with NASA and i think that it's a sign of changing times that more countries are getting involved. we all realize that we may need to look outside of our planet for sustainable life in the future.
i feel like the people in somalia just can't catch a break. i hope that the military and the government are able to get things under control so that fewer people lose their lives due to insurgants. i don't think that i could ever fathom what they are going through - living in the environment that they do with such civil unrest and then fleeing for your life to only suffer more since you don't have shelter etc...

14Did you catch when Katie Couric asked her about McCain's campaign manager still having a stake in the lobbying firm that received payments from Freddie Mac? You can see the wheels turning in her head trying to figure out what to say.
