Just like in your high school yearbook, the Senate gets ranked on a few lists — not most popular or best smile (though that gives me an idea. . . ) useful rankings like 50 most conservative/liberal, 50 longest serving, and most recently out, the list of 50 richest. Do you know who made which lists? Click and see if you're the "Most Likely to Succeed" in this quiz! (Hint: If the Senator made the top 50 in any of the lists, it counts.)
Question 1 of 10
Which lists did Sen. Robert Byrd make?

Burberry
Jean Paul Gaultier
Cheer
"Only" the 13th richest, eh? Does that include his wife's money?
1I would assume, just based on the fact that Sen. Kerry is #1 and I would imagine that is based on his wife's money mostly.
2that confused the hell out of me
3Who's rankings are these?
4I got McCain wrong and Elizabeth Dole is starting to morph into Bob!
So, I just looked at the original article (on rollcall.com) and it says McCain is worth $19.64 million, but Cindy has been estimated to be worth over $100 million on her own, which would put them up by the Rockefellers.
I don't know why they're running away from that. Didn't Cindy's father build the company from the ground up? They're the American dream!
5This is a little misleading because John McCain wasn't ranked at all on the conservative/liberal scale. He is obviously one of the 50 most conservative senators!
6i dont know if he's your typical conservative... didnt he break from GOP a lot before he threw all of his values out the window to get the nomination? just sayin'
7Oh, I definitely don't think he's the "typical" conservative, but I doubt there are any Democrats who are more conservative than him and neither are Lieberman and Sanders, so I would say he's in the top 50.
850 most conservative and liberal would be...well wouldn't it basically be almost a party list? I've only seen top ten liberals or conservative lists.
9Threw his values out the window? Come on.
10I wouldn't say he threw his values out the window (well, I wouldn't say it in public) but he does seem to have shifted his view on a lot of issues.
11The ear hair on that dude frightens me. he doesnt see it? or doesnt care? or does it keep him warm?
12These lists are interesting, but I wonder about how they computed some of them. The link only lists longest serving Senators up to #14. The first list is combined House and Senate time. And some of the people on the Senate list are not current Senators.
Maybe I am just in a complaining/overly analytical mood today.
13Yeah this seems like something I would take with a grain of salt, even if you look at the Top 50 richest its just based on what each legislator discloses which may or may not include marital assets.
14Interesting point about McCain and is he a 'typical' conservative or not. I would say that being considered a typical conservative nowadays is pretty different than 10 or 20 years ago.
I don't know why it doesn't say where these lists come from, but I assume the richest list is the one on rollcall.com, and the first sentence of the article is "Everything that you are about to read might be wrong."
I guess assets worth over $1 million are listed just as that. So, a house worth less than a million would be listed as, like, "House-$890,000" but a multi-million dollar home would be listed as "House - over $1 million" whether it's worth $1.5 million or $15 million. I think. It's confusing.
15That's a wisp of hair behind his ear.
16So why is Liberal a bad word???
17Who said that it is?
18Who said someone said it is?
19Well, dream didn't just pull that question out of thin air. If no one had said or implied that it was, there would have been no need for the question.
20I think they both 'liberal' and 'conservative' can have negative connotations depending on who you ask. I personally wouldn't like either words applied to me.
21So people aren't allowed to pose questions anymore? Interesting.
22I don't think anyone has said or implied that people aren't allowed to ask questions any more.
By the way, what you're doing here is entirely obvious.
23I got so confused on that quiz. I felt like I was back taking the SATs.
24I always got tricked by the all of the above/none of the above/a combination of the above answers.
25Yeah, True Song! It brought back some pretty awful memories of test taking for me too.
It made me feel more stupider....
26I figured after the first half that I was doing good, since I picked the combo answers on pretty much all of them. And then I bombed from there.
And I really dislike the "all of the above, none of the above, some of the above" answers on multiple choice tests. It always made me feel like the professors were deliberately trying to confuse me and make me get the question wrong.
27I had a teacher who always did "pick the one out of order" and I couldn't wrap my brain around it.
28I had a chemistry teacher that frequently put "don't know don't care" on his multiple choice tests.
29And by the way...I don't think Chemistry should EVER be multiple choice!
30i especially didn't like that STD test i took where the only choices were "combo of the above" or "all of the above"!!

32Actually I was asking. Seem that all I hear lately is "liberal media" or "liberal" this and that used in a negative (almost scare tactic way). So I was just wondering when did the word "liberal" become a bad term?
33Well, I think it would be bad if they were called the "conservative media" too, because the media is supposed to be more or less neutral. That said, I think a conservative might use it in a negative way because it goes against their beliefs. But I've heard conservative used in a negative manner for a long time.
34robert byrd literally looks like a bird. horrifying.
35also, he looks like a turtle. your thoughts, everyone?
36YY, I think he's a mock turtle.
37I was thinking along the lines of a hobbit?
3810/10 - why does that scare me. I love these pictures.
39It's funny -- but I never hear conservative used in a negative way. I was with a buddy of mine from work and he was asking me which way do I "go" -- I of course said "as left as they come liberal" -- all I heard after that was a groan and a "oh" -- seems like there a more negative connotations on "liberal" than on conservative.
40Torg, I just realized your TS. Thankfully, you kept the apple.
41I know, it's confusing. I kept the same av on purpose!
42For a minute, I thought someone jacked your apple.
43You thought I was the victim of an apple jack?
44That I did, I was going to fight in honor of your name.
45I guess we might be from different places, but I always hear 'conservative' used to mean uptight, or close-minded. If your friend groaned when you said you were liberal, it was probably because he doesn't like liberal ideas, and not because the word has negative connotations in general.
46I put my name on my av, I'll leave it like that a week or so.
47hahah... thats really funny, TS
48Well, you were asking because someone said it, just not someone on this thread.
And I agree, liberal has become a dirty word, just like conservative.
49To me the scariest term of all is 'religious right'. Sends chills down my spine.
Hey
actually that would make a great halloween costume if I could work out the details
