Oh and PinkLizzie, so do Americans! Every culture has it's own "staples"... but I guess you could use more culture - maybe you can ask your Aussie work colleague!

1I work with an Aussie who calls "University"/"College" "Uni" all the time. They shorten *everything*.

i AM aussie, and it's not that we shorten everything - 'uni' is just popular jargon that goes along with social norms
