Can you believe it's already Friday the 13th again? If you didn't get a chance to dish about your superstitions last time, here's your chance! Some people think it's bad luck to open an umbrella inside, while others refuse to walk under ladders.
So, ladies, do tell, what are your superstitions?

I've walked under a ladder and opened an umbrella inside before and nothing bad happened. lol. I'm really not superstitious. Sometimes, an email chain letter that says I will die in five days if I don't send it to five people gets me just a tad, but I never send them on and I'm still here!
1If I see a penny, I will pick it up in hopes of having good luck...
2Cracks and my momma's back. I will always and forever avoid stepping on them for the sake (and health) of that woman's poor back.
3I recently purchased this adorable owl necklace and later heard that it's bad luck so I haven't brought myself to wear it. But I love it so much so I may have to put aside my superstition for the sake of fashion!
4I always pick up pennies heads or tails.
5I don't really have any superstitions, but I do believe that things are either meant to be or not meant to be and I believe in signs that tell you one way or the other.
6im from eastern europe so my family has a gazillion really quirky little things like:
7- don't whistle inside, you will whistle your money away
- don't sit at the corner of a table, or you'll never have children
- don't keep cracked cups or plates in the house, or the devil will come in through the cracks
- don't throw the garbage out after dark, or you will never have money
- don't wash or clean your floors after the departure of someone you care about, or he will never come back
Don't eat oysters in months with an 'R' in the name. Which means this month, April, is your last shot till September.
8oh, just thought of a couple more:
- it's unlucky to keep a single peacock's feather in your house
- before you go on a trip you have to sit in silence for a few minutes, for good luck (god knows why.. my mom is a firm believer in the previous two)
- if a bird flies in through your window, someone in the house will die
- never celebrate your birthday before the actual date, or you will die
- never buy things for an unborn child or it will die (so much for Russian baby showers, eh?)
wow... how come they're all so grim?
9I don't let a black cat "literally" cross my path...
10I avoid walking under ladders... it creeps me out!
11Arthur, that's not a superstition, that's a fact.
12I'll tell you what's NOT a superstition: when I get the emails that tell me I have to forward it to a certain number of people or something bad will happen. Or God will stop loving me. Seriously, please tell me no one really beleives that.
don't pick up that penny unless it's head up! I think it's bad luck otherwise...
I toss salt over my left shoulder.
13I knock on wood...
14Yes Beaner, I knock on wood too!
15i didn't even realize it was friday the 13th until just now! i always make a wish every time i see a digital clock displaying all the same numbers (3:33, 4:44, etc.).
16i'll also only pick up a penny if it is face-up. otherwise it's bad luck.
17My parents are from Costa Rica and they have a lot of things:
-In January is someone gives you San Agusting flowers put them, in your pocket and you will have money for the rest of the year
- Never break a mirror, its bad luck for 7 years
- Throwing salt on the ground its bad luck
- Stepping on a dog's sh*t its good luck
- Bird's sh*t its good luck
-Dreaming with snakes something bad its going to happen/ you have an enemy
18A sea gull shat on my back while sunbathing at the Jersey shore. My friends said it was good luck. I'm not so sure about that one...
19Very interesting candy apple!
The only one i aviod is walking under ladders...other than that, i dont have any! Oh wait there is the groom not seeing the bride in her dress before the wedding!
20Oh wait i just realized that spilling salt..then you have to throw some over your shoulder!
21I don't hang or put my bag on the floor cause the money will go easily, always pay with my right hand and receive with my left one, I don't brush my hair sitting on the bed, don't take the salt directly from someone hand when they pass it to you...and a couple more but I don't see them as superstitions I just do them automatically.
22carito my mom says that all the time!
23about the bag
24I make a wish at 11:11 (better than 3:33 because its four of the same number instead of three) or when I naturally lose an eyelash. I have this bodywash i put a dab of on my stomach if I want good luck. I have lucky underwear.
25I used to have a cat that was black, so I never really thought that was bad luck. I walked under a ladder today. Nothing happened.
I pick my feet up when driving across train tracks and count until the age I'll be on my next birthday. Sometimes I even do this while I'm driving...
I also hold my breath when passing cemeteries; my mom used to say: It's not polite to breathe in front of those who can't.
My grandfather passed away on Friday the 13th several years ago, and our cat died that same day 2 years later. So on that July 13th my mom always calls us to tell us to be careful. But normal Friday the 13ths don't bug me.
Wonder what the folklore is behind Friday the 13th.
26What is the oysters thing...? I don't get it! I'm not really supersitious, but I still make a wish if I look at a clock at 11:11 and I hesitate picking up tails-up pennies. So silly!
Oh and snowyday, I was always told the same thing. I think it is just something someone made up for the person who got sh*t on feel better
Damn those jersey seagulls.
27I dont have any and I own a black cat and he is as normal as any other cat!In Ireland a black cat is considered good luck!
28i use to have a bunch, but now just the belief that luck comes in "waves" and they can be either good or bad. the chinese have a saying i heard once that goes something like this "once bad luck finds you it remembers where you live". and i think the same it true for good luck.
29I was raised Irish Catholic, so I have the year round superstition that if things are going too well, something really bad is going to happen.
30looool @ Marci
i think that's true for catholics around the globe (i went to a catholic school..)
31I dont really believe in any superstitions.. hahah ok i get a little freaked out if i break a mirror or see a black cat, but im not sure if i really belive it...
32Yup, same here- if it's going too well, then you better be careful.
33The birthday person has to make the first cut in the cake and he/she has to be given the first piece of cake or it's bad luck for the rest of the year.
34-no umbrellas indoors
35-no walking under ladders
-leave a tails up penny alone
-CAREFUL with mirrors (god forbid it breaks!)
-knock on wood
-the list goes on....
I'm not superstitious about anything, but I do have a good luck charm that I trot out for very special occasions. When I was eleven my mom gave me this little plastic "bear in a bunny suit" to take with me to a debate I was in. Ever since then, my bear in a bunny suit has been with me for SATs, GREs, and most recently my qualifying exam in graduate school. I'm a grown a*s woman and I've got this bear in a bunny suit sitting next to my laptop while I'm defending my thesis proposal. But hey, I haven't failed yet...
36ok so lets see..I wont pick up any coin off the ground unless its heads up, no umbrellas in the house, break a mirror bad luck for 7 years(only 6 years to go =\ lol), Wont go under a ladder, i wont eat a grilled cheese unless its cut diagonally,i wish on 11:11,i knock on wood, and i go to catholic schools so..i deff believe wht Marci said lol..im sure theres more ive adapted from my family haha
37Indians are also superstitious people, my mom, grandmoms, aunties all still believe in them. In the village my grandma stays in, they believe that you shouldn't go into the fields or woods from 12:00 to 4:00 pm cuz apparently thats when all the spirits and snakes roam around- I'm terrified of running into either so I totally stay in when I'm visiting her!
38Poor cute black cats!!
39Black cats are actually very good if u want to eliminate bad energy.
And in Mexico its said that black cats scare away spirits that try to harm u, so think twice next time u see a black cat
im not sure if this is a superstition. but my mother used to scare me with this all the time. don't point at the cemetery or the spirits of the dead will come into your room at night and bite your fingers off.
