Oprah recently reported that for the first time in history, there are more single women in America than married ones, 51% to be exact. Some women love their independent lifestyle while other women are working hard at finding their future husband or life partner. The stereotype of the single woman has changed dramatically over the years, so all you women out there, how do you feel about being single? Do you enjoy playing the field and not being tied down, or do you miss the constant companionship of a lover?

I'm not single anymore so I can't vote! But I will say that the last time I was single I loved it and couldn't imagine ever settling down again! But there were always a few occasions when I wished I had a partner. Like a holiday, or seeing something really beautiful and wanting to share it with someone. But those times I felt like that were few and far between.
1I absolutely love my single life. It's not like I don't go out and have a great time. It doesn't bother me not to be attached to anyone around the holidays! I can make my own fun!
2I like my freedom and i'm just now starting to like it. But i would really love to have a boyfriend in my life.

I'm single. I don't hate it, I don't love it. I'm not out there actively pursuing relationships. If someone comes my way, then lucky me. But for now, being in a relationship isn't my top priority. I think people who do make finding a relationship a top priority wind up merely settling for someone.

4i'm single. i don't dislike it but i'd really rather have a boyfriend. mostly because i've never been in a serious relationship and i've only casually dated one guy. i really haven't dived into the dating pool yet and am just kind of anxious to!
5I'm the same as popgoestheworld. I'm not single now, but my last round at being a single woman was great. I absolutely loved it and never thought for a minute I'd ever find a guy I was willing to give all that up for.
6I am single and OK with it. It's been a while since I had a boyfriend. Now that I know that I can survive on my own, I'm comfortable with waiting until the right guy comes along. I have too many friends who are currently settling for men who don't respect them because they'd rather have someone than be single.
7yaliyah, i'm in the same boat - I've seen too many of my friends settle for losers. As for me, I'm dating, but nothing serious has come along.. I've been with enough creeps in my life already to know not to stick around if I'm not feeling it! I'm hoping though, that in time I'll meet someone I really click with!
8i like being single. i love being in love. i hate falling out of love.
9not single, but if i were, i'd probably have a good time. i don't *wish* i were single, just like if i were single i wouldn't wish to be attached. and i'm not going to break up with someone just for the sake of being single.
and i definitely wouldn't settle for a loser just
for the sake of being with someone.
10I am happy. With or without men all girls should be able to feel happy. You can never too much inner strength and peace. That's when we are most beautiful!
11I wonder what percentage of those single women out there are Single moms..
12i am married..i enjoyed both being single and being married...did you hear Oprah reported that for the first time, single women in the US outnumber married women? (51%).
13This culture liest o you and says to be hapy, you have to be in love. BS. I find meaning in my life and give and recieve love everyday, NOT just to ONE person- to EVERYONE. THAT is true fulfillment and real love. I couldnt ask for me!! And it selfless, not selfish-- 'member my old signature used to read:
'Love is a selfish place to be in, but a selfless thing to give'
Because I feel that we should give our love and ourselves to everyone, not just one person-- and therefore, not just be 'used' by one person either.
Being 'single' or for me, actually celibate, is totally natural. I am completely myself and no one interferes with my energies.

14And don't you forget it!!
Wow typos- I mean couldnt ask for MORE no 'me'...
15---
And don't you forget it!!
....ahhh, forget it! LOLOL
16---
And don't you forget it!!
I'm not single, but I voted for other. I love having someone and I love being single. I can be completely happy either way!
"Aint nobody out there swift like this."
17Yep.
18i didn't vote because i'm not single, but i'm in the same boat as marci and popgoestheworld. i love my man, but it was def fun to be a single girl in the city. there's just so much fun to be had.
19I AGREE WITH ALL THE PEEPS THAT ARE IN A RELATI0NSHIP, I HAD FUN BEING SINGLE WHILE IT LASTED! & WHEN I WAS SINGLE, @ SUM P0INTS I DID WANT T0 BE IN A RELATI0NSHIP... JUST F0R THE AFFECTI0N... BEING SINGLE IS FUN, BUT SUMTIMES Y0U WANT SUM0NE 2 CUDDLE WITH...
20Single and loving it! No boyfriend = No rules & No assholes. I couldn't imagine having to come someone to check in everynight and see what they are doing.
21Not single now. I love my bf and I love our life together but sometimes I pine for the days where there was no one to answer to. But when I was single I would pine for someone to cuddle with
22Well, I'm single and so many of my girlfriends have had boyfriends and either gotten bored or dumped. Those who got bored had brooding exes who avoided them for days (despite the "we're still friends" thing) and those who got dumped - some resorted to cutting.
I think that being taken is just so overrated. Maybe it's because I'm in a girls' school with hardly any chances to meet up with guys or whatever, but I still think it's overrated. Especially for teens. How can you say I Love You at this age? These teens haven't even gotten a career yet!
23I'm 27 and in a pretty serious relationship. If its the right one...the days of longing to be single will disapear. I enjoyed being single very much, but don't miss it. And if this doesn't work out, I'll be happy to be almost 30, SINGLE and FABULOUS!!!!
24i am single there is a lot of pressure to be WITH someone,
25but i have realised that i enjoy wishing i had a man than i do when i actually have a man...
i like being single but i can't stand the pitying looks from people who are too scared to go it alone,
and they always try to hook me up drives me crazy...
i'm a single mom of two
I like being single, but i also like having someone to pine for. With long distance relationship, i can have the best of both worlds.
26I love being independent and my own person. I relish not being tied down to anyone. But still, there are times when I hate sleeping alone and wish I had someone there with me. I just want to know that I can be my own person and have my own independence before I step into the land of coupledom.
27me not single. though i did enjoy the good old days. i dont date a lot though. i find it slutty
28Well I'm recently single and so far am enjoying it! I just got out of a nine year relationship and a week away from what would've been our 6th year wedding anniversary! Everything happens for a reason.. Don't try and make sense of it.. Take it for what it is! I definitely have learned a lot about myself and especially being in the single spotlight.. I've seen how hard it can be to find someone that is true and genuine! Finding out that some people really can't appreciate a good thing when its staring them in the face.. That goes for both sexes! All I know is that I have more to learn and a lot to gain.. I take everyday as it comes with a smile and being thankful that I have one more day to do what I want with it! So ladies or gent's.. No use over dwelling on why they didn't call or if they were really into you.. look at it like this: As one person leaves your life.. Another enters.. Sometimes not right away but if your one of the lucky ones it can happen the same day! Don't look for it.. Let it find you! And if all else fails.. Put an ad on craiglist..lol!
