Rwanda is the first country where women outnumber men in parliament. Following horrific genocide in 1994, Rwanda adopted a new constitution. Among other things, it guarantees 30 percent female representation in parliament.
Thus, even before the latest election of 44 women to fill 80 seats, Rwanda held the world's record for most women to men in parliament. But now, that rate has risen from 48 percent to 55 percent. In honor of the election, test how much you know about the landlocked African country.

wow. I kno nothing!
1Nelson Mandela says peace negotiations should always include women because they're more likely to think in terms of the needs of the next generation and not about their own position in the community. Now we'll see what happens when it's taken the next step.
2I know this is completely besides the point, but someone should've told this woman her barn door was open prior to taking the photo.
Let's just focus on the really cute child...
3Nothing really to say about this, but in the picture, the woman standing with the little girl's fly is down! OOPS! X-Y-Z!
4Mykie I beat you to it
5By a minute! NO FAIR! LMAO I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed it though.
6Maybe I'm misinterpreting what I just read, but isn't it a little subjective to say that Rwanda promotes "girl power" (as the post's title states) when its constitution mandates that a certain percentage of women have to be in the government?
I don't think it's a good or bad thing either way, but I think it's kind of a half-truth, if you will.
7i definitely don't know as much about rowanda as i should but i definitely think that there's a lot of interesting changes going on there. i hope that the country is able to grow and evolve so that the quality of life gets to be a lot better.
8I guessed the whole way through so I only got 2 right, but I like that it gives the right answers so I can learn new things.
9Guess I need to study up on Rwanda
10Wow this brings the blight of Rwanda smack up against my brain.
