Football season is officially upon us, which for fans everywhere means that Sunday and Monday nights have taken on a whole new meaning. If you're in relationship with a die-hard football fan, suddenly plans and even moods are determined by a team, a game, and a loss.

Remember in Sex and the City when Samantha dates that guy who will only have sex with her if his team wins? Well football, for some folks, is actually like that! On the flip side, when two fanatics find each other, the season can make for an exciting few months in their relationship. How does your relationship weather the football season?

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG YESSSSSSSSSSS
1I spent ALLLLLL DAAAYY yesterday watching football..and baseball(which i dont mind so much) lol
Hey he puts up with some stuff I like so I do the same but sports affect him so much sometimes! Seriously if his team loses or he loses fantasy football..its going to be a bad day!
when he's watching a football i'm studying and doing things for college.
so, the football seasons doesn't affect our relationship. actually, it helps!!
and everything works really fine.
2Try dating a guy who works for a football team....not only does he work 7 days a week during the season, if they loose he's a definite grouch! My family refers to me as the football widow, since any plans from August to January means there's no plus one for me! And yes, that includes Christmas...we celebrate after the bowl game
Ahh, thanks for this post, that was a therapeutic rant
3Nope.
My boyfriend doesn't like Football at all. Now, when the Winter Olympics are
on (skiing) or the X-Games then that's when my life and our relationship is affected!
4*effected (not sure which one) But he LOVES skateboarding and skiing way more.
5We both love football, so it just means that I get more time with him on the couch
6My husband doesn't really care for football... thank God! We watch the Superbowl, which is always fun, but other than that, he doesn't really care.
7haha i'm a bigger football fan than he is, but it doesn't affect us too much. he can hang out with his friends while i watch the game. haha
8Nah...my b/f doesn't watch sports. He just plays XBOX...which is year round!
9Nope I am not affected.
10It means the hubby and I are glued to the TV for several hours on Sundays and Thursdays.
I love sharing my love of football with him.
11No...my boyfriend is into cars...which means anytime there is a car show on TV but then I do make him watch So you think you can dance with me lol.
12football... no, hockey, YES.
13affects his moods and our plans!
we watched football yesterday but he's not a hardcore crazy person about it. it's just on while we chat, so i don't mind.
14No affect really, I just do my own thing, just like he does his own thing while I'm watching GG or HIMYM. I'm def not the kind of girl who sits on the couch on Sundays pretending to like football- what a waste of my time! If he has to miss a game or two...or three because we have plans, we just Tivo it, no biggie!
15I come from a long line of football lovin women so I see it as a positive thing. Nice excuse to drink beer and eat junk food all day on Sundays
Plus I look cute in my jersey.
16hey i will clarify I do not pretend to like football, he is fully aware that I am not uber interested in the sport. I do it bcus he likes to watch it so i could be there readin a magazine or something but at least I show some interest in something that obviously interests him so much, as he does with me
17No effect -- we went to the same college (and neither of us cares for pro ball), so we watch all the games together! I would say that basketball season definitely creates a bit more mania in our household...I'm orginially from North Carolina, and you can't grow up there without living and breathing NCAA playoffs.
18I love football season! Im from KC and its pretty much law that you must be a Cheifs fan if you are from KC. So I dont mind when he watches it.
19One of my requirements for a potential husband was that he had to care less about sports, like Me, which was hard to do because i live in a college town known for its crazy football fans. My hubby was born here, so i was scared, but he met the requirement!
My father forced sports on us, since we only had One TV and he was master of the Remote , Thank baby jesus we didnt have cable back then! but i still had to watch Football and basketball till my eyes bled.
20My boy and I both love football season. I'm only into NCAA and he loves both NFL and NCAA. Our only problem is I'm a die hard Ohio State fan and he is a die hard Michigan fan. But we've learned to navigate around it and besides... a little passionate teasing is fun!
21no hubby isnt into american football...however football as in soccer....HES A FANATIC!!! it doesnt affect us though. i think its cute. unless he wants to watch a game during GH
22Absolutely Love football myself so there is not problem at all. Our kids are also just as into football so we watch it as a family.
And were very happy as the Giants kicked butt yesterday.
23I don't care for any sport at all -been that way since I was a kid. But i have things that I am obsessed over that I can see someone else not understanding. So I let it go that my BF loves his football and baseball a bit obsessively.
24It's kind of nice because I get some time to read. I have tried so hard to get into football, but I just can't...unless we actually go to the game and then I turn into a yelling, screaming, crazy fanatic! Just can't watch it on tv.
25Saturday too, as we're college students. I try to be understanding, but it gets a bit annoying at times. Can't wait for the season to be over.
26My BF hates sports. God bless him. I spent part of the summer holidays with my Dad on a roadtrip around Eastern France, and as soon as we got to the hotels, he'd turn on the TV and watch the Olympics. I wanted to die!
27No relationship right now, but not being a crazy football fan is a requirement of mine. Yuck, it's boring.
Actually, anyone that likes being stuck to a t.v. rather than being involved in something in real life is annoying. I don't want a guy that is that crazy about ANY sport they just watch on t.v. If you love the sport that much, you better be able to play it! Why not just go out and play it instead of being a couch potato!?
THAT I can deal with, a guy who is crazy into the team or sport he actually PLAYS for! That makes sense to me! It's REAL team spirit! Just being so excited for a team you have no part in whatsoever...that just doesn't make sense!! It's like all those guys are just "wanna be's"!!!
P.S. I just had an epiphany by typing this post out. I just realized that THAT (above paragraph) is the reason I don't like crazy sports fanatics!! I knew I always didn't like them, but I didn't realize why until just now. Yeaa, I feel like I just learned something about myself!! And my hatred of crazy sports fans makes sense now!!! LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!!! Yeaaa!!!
28my husband is not a athletic supporter....
29YES! I am totally affected. Every weekend I get totally stresed out about my fantasy team and how my weekly picks do.
It sucks because my boyfriend doesn't care about football at all AND I have no TV so I almost never get to watch. Oh well.
30i watch with him
31i was raised by cheeseheads, he's a cowboys fan...
sunday/monday/thursdays are interesting
i watch with him
32i was raised by cheeseheads, he's a cowboys fan...

OH MY GOD. I feel the pain... not only does the bf work as an assistant coach for a minor league team, he is obsessed with Madden (football video game), his nephew plays for a community football team AND he's a Cowboys and Falcons fan.
So this weekend was full of football for him, so we spent a bit of time apart as I am not a huge football fan. I was talking to him last night and he was being all sulky and not saying why. Turns out his nephew's team lost, his own minor league team lost AND the Falcons lost. Not sure about the Cowboys because that's on tonight, haha. Oh yeah and he couldn't beat the computer at Madden or something.
Ridiculous!
33Looooooooooooooooove football! We are both glued to the TV and our computers to check our fantasy scores. Though it does affect our relationship in a negative way, because my husband and I support opposing football teams, and play in the same fantasy league, so there is a lot of competitiveness, and we unfortunately wind up pissed at each other a lot...
34My boyfriend watches EVERY NFL game. Drives me crazy. I'd be fine if he had a couple of teams he really loved. Nope. He wants to watch every single game as he also is really into fantasy football and must watch every game that he has a player in. Argh...
I love my college team and will watch their game every Saturday. The Sunday/Monday NFL thing only irritates me because we have routine plans every Sunday/Monday (our only two days to spend together) and they get canceled A LOT during football season.
35I myself am a huge football fan! My ex actually didn't watch football at all! He was European and didn't understand the whole concept. But I can stay inside all day on Sunday jut watching football!
36I love football, go Bills!!
My fiancee likes football, but isn't obsessed, so it's never really a problem. We have about the same amount of interest in it.
37We both like the same team, so no, football doesn't get in the way cause I enjoy watching the games with him (although he tends to be a bit emotional when our team is losing badly). But Fishing? now there is something that inerferes! I am trying to schedule site visits and cake tastings for our wedding cake and we don't live in same area. this saturday was perfect, but he says "honey, i am supposed to go fishing"
38We are both Gators and LOVE watching the games every weekend! We are both also big baseball fans too!
39No, I'm dating a hockey boy.
But, seriously. Different sport, same emotions involved. If the Sabres lose, LOOK OUT.
40I don't mind. I love the football & baseball games just as much!
41I have been a football widow for the past 4 years..this year, I took part and joined the fantasy football league along with the hubby and its great. Im having fun..and makin him a football widower. Used to be such a big problem though..but perfect for my nap time. Not to mention time to get a mani/pedi and have some alone time with myself.
42Haha, good question. But mine is far more affected by the baseball season!
43ahh yes, i remember the SATC episode. for myself - i'm not as affected as sam was, but i do have some type of change in my weekly tv viewing habits. we have a really nice new tv in the living room where we watch tv at night, and now i'm relegated to the bedroom if i want to keep up with the programs that i usually watch since i can't possibly tell my fiance that he can't watch on the big HD tv. that would be mean of me!
we also now have a lot more channel flipping since he doesn't usually like to watch the whole game - so i either have to miss some of my program, get annoyed or watch in the bedroom.
44I love football more than he does. I take it to heart. But when its NBA finals, he is soooo annoying and continues to try and tell me everything that he thinks I don't know already. It doesn't affect us at all.
45My father definitely affected me during football season, luckily I could watch it with him and actually enjoy it. My husband doesn't watch any sports so I lucked out there.
