Didn't Papa Sarkozy marry the bimbo after a whirlwind romance - look how long they've lasted.
1And where would you like McCain to stand on torture - he'll adjust for votes.
2The Bar Mitzvah story is wonderful. I've heard a few of these in the course of my work (at a synagogue). Really uplifting.
"And where would you like McCain to stand on torture - he'll adjust for votes."
Exactly. I don't even think of it as flip-flopping anymore. Just adjusting the past to fit the present need.
3ew he looks smarmy
How sweet the guy getting his bar mitzvah finally!
4He's cute!
5I'm glad he is finally getting his Bar Mitzvah ---it will be joyful and peaceful, not to mention fun. I hope he tears it up.
6Ha! That dancing quiz is awesome!
7Well he married his childhood sweetheart, so that is ok, I guess. But 22 is pretty young, n'est-ce pas?
8What about the French cartoonist, with the testicles remark? Crazy.
9Stephley!! I don't think Carla Bruni is a bimbo, they did a piece on her in the last Vanity Fair.
And...junior Sarkozy is kinda HOT. I'm 23 and going to be marrying my high school sweetheart...in a couple years, or as soon as we're drunk enough to hop on a plane to Vegas.
10Vanity Fair does pieces on people all the time, and the more powerful the circle the person belongs to at the moment, the more VF tries to spiff up the past.
11I watched the dancing thing and got most of them right...but please..for the love of a duck tell me that is not Karl Rove dancing at the end. (gag)
On another note, for some reason it bugs the hell out of me when guys bite their lips while they dance. I mean..what IS that?
As for McCain...if - after what he himself has survived - even entertains the idea that torture is permissible - then any shred of respect I still had for the man is gone, gone, gone. He has a unique opportunity in his experiences, that could be used to ensure people understand the barbarity of torture, and how it is nothing but a detriment to a civilised society. You cannot choose to be selectively civilised. You either are - or you are not. And if you are not, then you are no better than those whom you decry.
If he backs down on that, if he turns on that to please the GOP powers-that-be, then in a sense he is crapping on every torture victim, including his own countrymen.
12YOU want it to mean, and for whom YOU think it should apply, when its convenient to you.
Gaa, last sentence got chopped by accident:
"The flag either stands, or it does not stand. It has to stand for more than YOU want it to mean, and for whom YOU think it should apply, when its convenient to you."
13I got like 3 wrong on the dancing quiz.
