This is all kinds of wrong. Please tell me it's a publicity stunt? "Natalie Dylan" (not her real name, cuz, you know, she'll auction off her virginity but not reveal her name!) wants to "capitalize on her virginity" by auctioning it off through the Bunny Ranch brothel in Nevada. Does it make it OK that it's so she can go to grad school to become — wait for it — a family and marriage counselor? I mean, look, I'm no conventional prude, but there are more dignified ways of making money. (She's gotta go through a virginity test first!) Also, do women really need to reinforce the idea they're objects to be bought and sold? If she is indeed a virgin, is this really how she wants to remember her first time? I find the whole thing more sad than anything. Thoughts?
Thanks, eBaum's World!

oooooooooookay then.
1sad....wow..that girl is really pathetic!
she actually thinks that this is okay? sounds like a prostitute to me! main reason why they are doing it at the bunny ranch..so she wont be arrested...i truly feel sorry for her.
2prostitute.
3I think this is so wrong. Not only are we reverting to the Middle Ages with this kind of crap - but as a few others mentioned - she's PROSTITUTING herself! I agree with you Giggle - she's gonna be a WHAT?? And this somehow lends credence to her HOW??
The really sad thing is - there's going to be quite a few offers.
4I'll buy that for a dollar.
5Horrible. It reminds me of a similar story on Law and Order.
6Isn't this kind of illegal?
7I think she has been in the Nevada sun too long, because she is totally stupid to sell her virginity for college money. I have heard women going into porn films to pay for their college education, but this ranks up to the worst ideas of paying for college. Geez, I guess those at the Bunny Ranch never bothered to tell her that she could apply for a college pell grant to pay for her college expenses.
8Kudos to her. She's right this is a capitalist society. It doesn't matter what she's spending the money on either; whether its school or doritos, it's her business. People have sold worse things on auction and worse things have been paid for on auction. Does anyone remember the blessed Virgin grilled cheese. Now that was dispicable.
9
@ Chippy. Oh, yeah. Those Pell Grants! Howard Stern should talk about those on his show.
10It's her vag, she can do whatever she wants with it. Worry about your own life and stop judging people. Some people sell their bodies, some people build nuclear weaponry, some wash dishes, etc. What business is it of yours? I'd love to know.
11I love how they say she is "willing to undergo a physical examination". Uh . . . no. There is no way to examine a woman's genitalia and determine whether or not she's had penetrative sex. First of all, there is no standard shape or size of a hymen, so examining it isn't going to conclusively say if it has or has not been altered. Also, your hymen becomes thinner and more fragile after puberty, so examining a 21 year old is going to much less conclusive than, say, a preteen whose hymen is probably thick enough to examine.
12What is our world coming to? Seriously! This is ridiculous. haha.
Do what you want with your body but does the country need to know?
13HA! I actually hadn't even heard of this (and I'm actually going to Sac State... I'm so out of the loop!) until a couple hours ago when my Microeconomics professor mentioned it.
Since everyone seems to know she's planning on going to grad school here at CSUS (and surely some of the guys have even imagined at length what she had to do to get here), I think she should probably consider Chico State or something.
It's not *that* hard to fill out a FAFSA.
14By the way no, it's not illegal because she's "selling her virginity" through the Moonlite Bunny Ranch in Nevada. Some counties in the state of Nevada, including Lylon County which is home to the Bunny Ranch, permit the operation of brothels under heavy regulation.
And I know this because it was all discussed in my aforementioned Microeconomics class.
15"This is Phil reporting live from Microeconomics class at Sac State. Back to you GiggleSugar..."
16Whaaat.. Ew. I'm not interested in her sex life. There are other ways to get the money
btw I've read prostitute's blog. No joke. Well I dont know, word "prostitute" is like a homeless person. It's more like a blog about kind of normal student with money issues and found her way into selling her sex -thing.
it is wrong, though
17MAXWERM this comment section is for us to comment on the subject....
if the girl doesnt want to be judged she really shouldn't be "auctioning" her virginity for everyone to see! i say she's worse then the chickens there at the bunny ranch. At least they admit that they have sex for money aka prostituting(offering sexual intercourse for pay) unlike this ho (ooops) who's trying to justify her quest for money. its digusting...yea im JUDGING its kind of hard not to.
18"Do you know many college girls who are virgins?"
"No, I don't... and she, uh, doesn't really look like one either."
hahahaha
19well alrighty then...
20prostitution is the oldest profession in the world. What else is new? She can choose to do what she wants with her body, she has to live with those consequences the rest of her life. Good for her.
21The fact that this was in the Chicago Tribune the other day makes me sick.
22OK folks. To those of you who are telling me "it's her body, she can do what she wants with it," I agree with you. I actually think prostitution should be legal so that it's regulated and safe for women. Having said that, as a woman, do I find it depressing? Yes. Would I want my daughter or someone I care about doing that? No. Do I think it's the best, safest way to get money for college that's going to make this woman feel good about herself later? Uh, no. Finally, this seems to up the ante on prostitution: it's a PUBLIC VIRGINITY AUCTION. A little different from the usual prostitution scenario cuz it's more cynical and it's in my face. That is all.
23Why is this wrong exactly ? And how many women don't regret their first experience ? At least she's getting compensated for it rather than having a drunken wow-that-was-stupid moment. Some people view sex as sacred, others view it as just intimate fun between consenting adults. Still others (men, mostly) are willing to pay just to look at something that exists on more than three billion people. If they want to throw money at you and you feel comfortable taking it, go right ahead. I'm sure as hell not going to judge her for it.
24Oh, yeah....another alum from my local state university (thankfully not my alma mater) representin'. Nicely done.
25Being paid for sex = prostitute
This makes me sad.
26Also, does she remind anyone else of a brunette Paris Hilton?
27Now that people know what she looks like, how will this effect her future career? Will she get more business as a therapist? Will she have an easier time getting employed now that employers have learned to Google about new applicants? And she's in the media ... how will this effect her social life and how serious people will take her as a professional?
It's just sad that she hasn't thought enough about this to see past having to pay for school ... that this is going to have long reaching effects ... and she'll probably be the one seeing a therapist when this is all done.
28Just. . . wow
29Phil = lmao there is a FAFSA : )
30She's just doing it for the attention. Technically, I can't even afford my undergrad, but the school has generously provided me with loans. Yes, it's easier to sell my body for the cash, but it's completely false to say she can't afford school--all schools provide loans.
31I will make much, much, MUCHMUCHMUCH MORE FUN of the GUY THAT ACTUALLY PAYS her for it - than criticise her for doing it!
Please, do you think they will write a story about HIM?
(They should, it would be more amusing.)
Do I agree with it? Nah.
Would I do it? Hell no.
But...
Does she have the right to do so in Nevada if she wants to? Yep.
There are far greater problems to deal with in this world.
to poor Giggle for having to make a serious post.
32Wowsers! She'll, like totally, like, you know, make like, an amazing FAMILY AND MARRIAGE THERAPIST!?!?!?!?!?!?! Yikes!
33Sick!
34Not a big deal. IMHO 80% of high school myspace neophytes do this in a less direct manner.
35All this girl really wants is a bucket load of attention and her 15 minutes of fame. And aren't we an obliging audience! ;p
36wow. that's insane.
37as for the comments about wanting prostitution to be legal, i'm not sure how it works in the states, but it actually is legal in canada. it's totally legal for the prostitutes, but it's illegal to solicit a prostitute. that way, the prostitutes don't have to hide which increases their safety. and the only person who would get arrested, if caught, is the john.
ummmmm what is the world coming to. Just what.
38and, my grandma would take a switch to her @ss!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL
39TRue That
uh, ew? And honestly, i'd bet good money that that charming young woman is not, in fact, a virgin. It just doesnt fit that someone who "used to be all about the romance" and considered waiting for marriage would wait 21 years through college and everything and then go "i'm broke..screw it, i'll just sell my ass on the internet!" dont think so honey.
and also, HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA
40most of us can't afford grad school, but we take out student loans to finance it.
41she's just greedy in my opinion - and counseling is NOT the right field for her to be going into if she wants to be greedy.
If she wants to be an attention wh*re then let her. In the age of the internet this is one thing that she will never be able to leave behind - even if she doesn't go through with it.
I have to agree with bengalspice - what is her future going to be like? Has she given any consideration to that I wonder, and the fact that she is going to have a hard time being taken seriously in the future.
This is going to haunt her for the rest of her life. I think people need to look at the ripple effect before they make such stupid decisions.
42im a virgin & i think this is totally wrong! im starting to think that she lied..yeah a doctor may have checked & the results said she was in fact a virgin..but theres a surgery called
43"hymen restoration surgery" that makes you in fact a virgin again..
im just insulted that she would do something so vague..losing ones virginity is suppose to be something special..shes making it seem like its some kinda joke..heck id rather her take a striping gig then do this..
Just... wow. I don't know what to say.
44There are so many other honest jobs she could do to earn her way through grad school. Can't she get a student loan or bursary??
I really don't care about what she does with her body, but how is this legal?
I've heard of this Bunny Ranch before, and what they're doing there is cold, hard (pun not intended) prostitution.
I'm not against prostitution; I just want to make sure laws are followed.
45maxwerm, everybody is allowed to have an opinion, and don't act like you are some saint who never judges anybody. anyways...back onto the subject, I just have to say there is probably a really good reason she is a virgin....nobody else probably wants her.
46I wouldnt want a hooker counseling my family...no matter where she went to grad school. hahahahahaah
47What is got into her? is she okay? why now she decided to sell her body for stupidity. OMG She's crazy!!!
48Good for you I say. This is something I would totally do if I didn't have certain religious obligations/hang-ups. I'm 30, technically a virgin still, hitting third base with some guy I met from online. (It wasn't ever romantic with him, just wanted to "explore"...etc.) It's sad, but true about growing older and having reality slap u in the face year after disappointing year. The fact that people are so promiscuous and oversexed, they can't FATHOM someone actually not giving-in to the sexual impluses. I agree, the first time is never what it should be, so might as well have a lovely parting gift. BTW-- I got loans to finance college, and since graduating (almost 9 yrs ago!), still owe $14,000. Really I'm just paying for the interest now, and not actual loan. Screwed economy only makes things worse. You go Natalie, show a mirror to society's screwed-up values!
49There are probably plenty of other ways to get college money, and this is about one of the dumbest ones - but hey, since it's her body, she has the right to do whatever she wants to it.
