There's nothing like a best friend! The importance of having someone you can turn to and trust without a moment of hesitancy is infinitely important in this hectic world. But the friendship that you have with a best friend is more than just the day-to-day stuff, it’s also about the memories you create with one another along the way. So let’s take a trip down memory lane and share the story of how you met your best friend!

We were both uber dorks in biology my freshman year, his sophomore. We didn't really talk for most of the year, but he was having people sign his yearbook, and I noticed that most of it wasn't full, so I asked if it was okay if I took the entire back page. And he was like..okay? So I grabbed a bright red marker and drew a huge heart across the page and wrote a little note for him. When we had chem together the next year, things just kinda clicked right over. It's harder now that we've both gone off to college, but we still talk almost daily, so it's still going strong. Hoorah!
1I met her way back in high school. We didn't have any classes together but used to see each other in the halls and we would always smile and say hi. Some how we ended up talking and we have been friends now for 23 yrs.
2It's so long ago I can't even remember what age I was. I think I was 12 or 13 and she was 10 or 11. We were the worst troublemakers in Sunday school.
Since then we've bonded over finding inappropriate humor in everything and our love for good
food.
3This is actually really embarrassing.. but we met in an AOL chatroom about Sailor Moon when I was about 12.
4we met in h.s. - 14 years ago.. we bonded while in french class.. we talked more to each other than actually paid attention in class... lol.. bff's ever since.. i was just her maid of honor last year - and once i get married she knows she'll be mine..
5About ten years ago, I lived in a really bad neighborhood. One night my next door neighbor locked me in his apartment and tried to rape me. I got away, and the next day, when I went to work, I asked for a couple of days off to look for a new apartment.
My boss was a big jerk and he said no, but he offered to lend me (!) the new intern, who had no place to stay after being kicked out of his place. So that night, I brought this guy I had never met before back to my place, to protect me against the crazy *sshole next door. You see, I couldn't call the cops, because I was an illegal alien at the time. So the chubby bearded stranger with the big, kind eyes, was better than nothing.
Anyhoo, the next day, I ran into the neighbor in the staircase, who was a really really really big guy with a giant bald head and shoulders like Mount Rushmore. Scary f*cker. He started laughing his ass off and tried to touch my butt, so I ran home and told my new roomie. He went downstairs, knocked on the guy's door, and broke his face.
We've been best friends ever since.
6Wow, karlotta, that's a great story (well, then ending)!
Julie and I had several mutual friends and college, and grew very close during our senior year. We've been inseparable ever since, and most people guess that we've known each other all our lives. As Anne of Green Gables might say, we're "kindred spirits"

8I met all of my best friends at school. I don't remember how I met any of them in high school (but I remember how I met some from Kindergarten-8th grade), but I do remember I became friends with this girl when I told her she was stupid and needed to shut up. I was serious and then she became my friend and we're still friends today.
9well, i have 3 best friends
101:had classes together in middle school
2:he was the new kid jr. year and was in my theatre class. apparently i was the first person to talk to him
3:a mutual friend set us up
i met my best friend in college - freshman year, first day, first class. we were in the same spanish class and we both fell asleep and got in trouble together. from that moment on, we were best friends. we've been through everything, lived together, and more. she's my other half.
11I met my best friend at university - first year. I was pretty down emotionally that time and didn't have a lot of friends I could rely on. So I spent most of the time in her room. I eventualy left that University to go study abroad, and lord behold 6 months into living in a foreign country someone called out my name at the train station and it was her! Anyways she ended up going to the same A level school I was in and we've been best of friends since. I haven't regretted the choice I made i.e deciding to be friends with her, she is absolutely amazing, annoying at times aren't we all
but I love her all the same
12I actually knew my best friend for three years before she was actually a best friend of mine. we used to be invited to the same girl's sleepover parties all throughout middle school and we'd hang out then, but never talk to each other. then we went to high school and our sarcastic, quirky natures just clicked! we both think the same things and I love her to death. We joke all of the time that if one of us dies the other is screwed because no one will ever understand us the way we understand each other, lol
13I met my very best friend in 11th grade. We were both in a new private school, she was sitting by herself...and I sat with her. We talked, and hit it off. She was my maid of honor in my wedding a couple of weeks ago. She said I'd be the only person unrelated to her she'd consider in her wedding party.
I love her to pieces, we're both so the same, yet so different.
14i met my best friends in high shcool we've been friends since then, we have a great friendship its benn 9 years since that and i hope this friendship last forever =), they are the best girlfriends in the whole world.
15We probably met when we new-born babies at the hospital. I'm not kidding, we were born in the same hospital within 24 hours. I have known her all my life. We went to same kindergarten and we would have play-dates.
I went to different college last year and I didn't make many lasting friends in there. So I kinda have only childhood friends. Now I'm attending new college and so far I have met new friends just by introducing myself to people around me.
I love reading these stories.
16We met in grade 1 at recess.
17I've literally gone through everything with her, and she's always been there for me no matter what.
We've been best friends for 16 years and counting
11 years ago she was friends with one of my friends and we just hit it off and have been bff ever since.
18My 6 BEST friends are all my cousins!
So of course we have all known each other
since birth. We're all ages 15-23 so we have known each other some more than others.
They are more than just blood to me. We are extremely close and everyone we know thinks it's awesome that we are THAT close to each other. We have gone on quite a few "girl"
trips and this November we're going to the Carribbean! I LOVE them sooo much. My life would NOT be the same without them.
19I have 2 best friends: 1 met in an Art History Class in college, and the other was my boss at the hotel I worked at in college.
20I literally met my best friend in Kindergarten. It was on our very first day and even then we both been a bit different from the other kids. Geeks from the very beginning I'd say. *lol*
21We were like Siamese twins until we graduated from school, and that haven't quite changed although we live in two different cities now.
It's great to have someone who really, really knows you!
My one best friend Amanda I met junior year in high school. She was new to my school and we were both trying out for Volleyball. Whats weird is we both swore we knew each other from somewhere (still can't figure that out after 10 years).
My other best friend, Mike, was my boss about 8 years ago and after he got transferred to a different store we still stayed in touch. We slowly became good friends over the years. We moved in together in February and now we are like Will & Grace.
22My BFF and I kept running into each other before we became friends. Clearly it was meant to be! Our sisters were born at the same hospital on the same day and our mothers shared the same room. Then we ended up attending the same school and going to the same church. Now this may sound like its not a big deal if you lived in a small town with one hospital, one church, one school, etc. But we live in the Bay Area where there are multiple hospitals, schools, churches, etc. Not to mention the fact that the hospital our sisters were born at (as were both of us) was located 20 minutes away, our school was a private school (we didn't just meet because we lived in the same school district because we actually don't), and our church is one of several Catholic churches in the area. Then I ended up joining her soccer team, which her mother was a coach for, and we became best friends. I was about 9 and she was about 10 years old at the time, and we are still best friends 10 years later!
23She was dating a good friend of an ex of mine, and then we started working together. We were sort of aloof with each other for the first hour, and then one of us said something outrageous that made the other one laugh, and after that, we bonded instantly. We could work eleven-hour shifts together, with no one to talk to but each other, and never get sick of each other or run out of things to talk about.
It was really sad when she moved out of the country.
24may not*
And I actually think I was 10 and she was 11 so its been about 9 years. We became BFF around the time I stopped being friends with my previous BFF.
By the way, my BFF is named Erin and even though we don't see each other all the time (I live near San Jose and she goes to UC Berkeley), it doesn't feel like any time has passed when we meet up with each other. She's also the only one of my friends that I say "I love you" to. In a platonic sense, of course
25We met in the second grade through a mutual elementary school crush who we both now hate. Oh, that sweet irony! Fourteen years later, she's basically my sister.
26BF and I met in undergrad on the first day. We've lived together, studied abroad together, and next week I will be her matron of honor at her wedding to my husband's best friend (we connected them as well).
27All of my closest friends are from college or from my earliest childhood.
28i met my best friend in kindergarden but we didnt start talking till 2nd grade and we got closer and official bffs since 5th grade. we are now sophmores in highschool. and i love her to death! love you nicole!
29We met during sophomore year in high school. We were in the same P.E. class, and one day while we were waiting for our turn at bat while playing softball, I turned to her and said "God, it's hot." She agreed. We've been BFF ever since haha.
30we met in pre-school and ran around the playground playing star trek. We didn't really become friends until we went to the same school again in middle school. We were lab partners in bio.
31I met my best friend at recess when I was in first grade and she was in second grade. The next year my family moved and I wound up living down the street from her. We've been best friends now for 16 years.
32Hahaha, oohsexypenguin, your post made me LOl.
"God, it's hot. She agreed." lol,
awesome.
I don't really have a bff right now, I'm working on that. :/
33Even though I have several girls that I like to call my besties, there is one in particular who is my numero uno. We met our freshman year in college. We just sat next to each other in class and just ended up talking. We were inseparable ever since. Its been about 7 years now and we are more like sisters than anything else! And even though we live in different cities and may not get to talk everyday, when we do get to talk its like no time has passed whatsoever.
34salsa class...
35University.
We've never officially said "we're best friends" but we know the other is always there for us.
She lives far away from me though, it's hard sometimes.
I have other really good close friends and one of them is coming to live near me soon so she'll probably be upgraded to best friend when that happens. ;p
Apart from that... my boyfriend is obviously one of my best friends.
36I have 3 best friends. The first I met freshman year of High School because we both loved Hanson (haha, I know) and are Ukrainian, and let me tell you finding another Ukie is NOT an easy thing to do. The second I met freshman year of college, as she was my other best friend and my suitemate. The 3rd I met through mutual friends while I was on a vacation. I love them all to this day :]
37I met my best friend when we were 7 years old at dance class. Our moms became friends and then they introduced the two of us, and the rest is history. She has been my BF for 23 years, and I don't know what I would do without her!!
38it's really a shame since right now i can't consider any of my friends to be 'best friends'. i tend to move around a lot and i've learned that if i don't keep in touch with someone even if i've moved then they weren't really great friends.
there's one girl that i do talk to when i can - and she would be the closest thing to a best friend if i had one...and i met her during rush week at college all those years ago. i was already in my sorority and she was coming to rush and the first time i met her we just clicked. she's a great person who went through a LOT during that first year or so that we were friends, and i think that it just shows that we really have a lot in common and that we care for each other. i miss the friendship that we had but we're at different places in our lives - she's married with 2 kids and i'm just now getting engaged, but at least we do try to connect from time to time.
39My I have several best friends. One I met when we were both in Kindergarden our first day - she came up to me and asked to be my friend. Now -nearly 20 years later we are closer than ever. My other half - I met in high school - she was the new girl - she was a teenager mother - but she came to school afraid no one would talk to her - and she actually came to the wrong class - but I talked to her because I knew what it felt like to be a new kid. The rest I say is history. We have will have been best friends now for 8 years now this October. I can't imagine my life without her in it!
40i met her at freshman orientation for college. they grouped us by last name (we at the time were both "c"'s) and everyone else was really quiet but her and i were chatting up a storm like we'd known each other forever. by the end of the 'scavenger' hunt we realized we were like the city/country version of the other one. it was pretty funny when the two blabber mouths couldnt shut up at 8:30 am haha
41in Junior Kindergarten!
42I must sound pathetic... I don't have a best friend! lol... I guess my boyfriend is my best friend... we met in 7th grade science club and were partners for the competition... 10 years later we're still geeks
43we met at camp...and we have been best friends for 25 years..we have lived in different countries and cities and still manage to talk almost every day. we are going to be two little grannies rocking in our rocking chairs watching the grand children some day! best friends are great!!
44Keri and I have known eachother for longer than either of us can remember.. it was nearly 20 years ago! I'm on my way to being 22, & she is 21 on this coming Tuesday.. Keri and I lived across the street from eachother for about 12 years or so..
45we were together daily up until I was 17. I was sent clear across the country- while she stayed behind. Keri and I have not seen eachother in 4 years and still have managed to be there for eachother- thru thick and thin... never judging- always loving one another no matter what life throws our way. Keri isn't just my bestfriend.. she's my sister, my soul mate... my other half.
I met my best friend during my Uni years. Although we both live in different countries and move across the globe a lot, when we need someone to talk, we always call each other. I absolutely love her, and I hope, one day, we can live in the same city!
46my best friend's mom and dad and my mom and dad were friends before the two of us met. but when she was 3 she was diagnosed with diabetes and my mom took me to the hospital to go play with her. we've been best friends ever since...she came to visit me every day when i was in the hospital with a broken neck when i was 12, and we were maids/matrons of honor at each others weddings. now she's living in austria and i can't wait to go visit her!
47On myspace but we both went to the same high school!
48I first met him during lunch one day my first year of college we both just sort of hit it off but didn't really think anything of it, until he was seated next to me during English class. We goofed off and chatted and laughed that whole semester. I don't think we learned anything in that class-lol but it was the best class I ever had! Since then he's transfered to a different school but we still keep in touch whenever we can and we still visit each other.
49I have three close ones.
501) Met in first grade on the playground. She asked me if I liked the Vikings and I said yes. We've been friends ever since (even though I'm not a fan of football anymore..)
2) Had History together in ninth grade. We wound up sitting next to each other and had a couple of mutual friends, so we started talking and became really great friends. We've had our ups and downs for sure, but I love her to death.
3) I had known who he was since eighth grade, but we randomly starting hanging out in high school since we had lunch together and a ton of the same friends.. Plus I thought he was cute.. We spent the summer before junior year together and became best friends, but the whole dating thing didn't work out. We just didn't have any chemistry. Oddly enough, I've been dating his cousin for almost two years now..
