Obama is very smart for going on the Factor. There are people in the middle who watch that show, why not reach out to them? heck! why not reach out to conservatives?
I haven't seen the whole thing (obv) but just from that one segment I feel like HRC was more comfortable and came off better... but we'll see what the other segments are like.
1I refuse to call you haus!
2Agreed! He looks a little awkward, but I would be, too.
And I'm happy to see more talk on foreign policy since it's such a big part of the job, much more so than the wedge issues we focus on sometimes.
3Us Weekly says little more than 1,000 cancellations... a little more than 1,000 bonus subscriptions from supporters of the magazine... "In the end, it's a wash, but encouraging to see how involved the readership is in the election, the source says."
Which means Palin can count on more covers!
The families of politicians against choice have always had the money and access to doctors who handle their secret messes when they need them.
4Bill creeps me out.
5Anyone who is getting their political knowledge from US Weekley should lose their right to vote.
6or it should at leats be suspended!!
7What about people who get their news from a spinoff of a celebrity gossip website...? (Kidding)
8haha torg! touche!
9In all honesty, I get my news here, from NPR and npr.org, and ontd_political. Not sure which came first, the liberal chicken or the liberal media egg.
TV news is too...ridiculous.
10Has anyone read the US Weekly article? Is it completely silly? What's the spin?
11go barack. oreilly is suck a jerk.
12i heart samantha bee. seriously, the daily show is all thats left you guys... the real news shows just spout off garbage and soundbytes... at least the daily show is showcasing the hypocrisy of it all. without them i think my head would explode.
13Truer words were never spoken YY!
14I think the O'Reilly/Obama interview will turn out great.
Samantha Bee's piece was very clever but I think the nuance that both sides seemed to forget in that piece is that for some one like Bristol or my niece for that matter the so called (choice) was never a choice in the first place. There was never a weighing of options or one path vs. another. They were pregnant and there for they have the baby. I have always been pro-life in the literal sense and I do believe that life begins at conception. However, that area is not one I believe government has any business involving it self in. That is between a woman her conscience and her beliefs.
As for the US Weekly issue I thought it was outrageous especially after watching the editor wriggle like a worm in an interview without any explanation to justify their choices. This is the kind of crap that has a hand in steering our opinions and we need to call them out when ever possible.
15hypno you are the best! i so love reading your comments!
and i'm assuming you're talking about the megyn kelly interview with the US Weekly guy.... she put the screws to him! I have such a good crush on her
16oops i meant girl crush, not good crush
17goodness, will he let him talk!? i hate that o'reilly asks obama a question and doesn't have enough courtesy and respect to let him answer! obama did a great job considering how rude o'reilly was being... as usual.
18oreilly is great in that he makes obama look so articulate and classy.
19i missed the oreilly show so thanks for putting it on here
20Thanks for the clip. Will definitely be tuning into that to see Barack. Then again, I'd watch that man read me the phone book. I agree that it is a very, very shrewd move to go on the Factor. O'Reilly spends much of his time painting Obama as a tree-hugging pacifist and I think it will be great to have Obama there to defend himself.
Hypno, I appreciate your comments as well as it brings to light that people have really nuanced views on the debate - and I think many, many people do, myself included. I've never found myself in the situation, thank God, but I theoretically imagine what I would do based on my personal beliefs. However, I think my personal morality has nothing to do with rule of law. Separation of church and state and all that.
21That Talking Points link is funny. The image behind McCain was Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywood, California. It seems they probably meant to show Walter Reed Medical Center in the background. But someone pulled up this middle school.
And the school is mad and released statements criticizing the use without asking permission. Considering how many musicians have sent the campaign cease and desist letters for stealing their music without permission, you would think they would hire media professionals by now. It seems like they let some high school kids work their media for an extra credit project or something.
22I kind of want to read the US weekely article, but I don't want to buy it because I don't want to encourage them.
23Go to a doctors office or hairstylist, you'll probably find a copy there - or be like everyone else and go to Borders or Barnes & Noble and plop down on the floor and read it.
24The clip I saw was very interesting. I think Obama handled himself quite well, and despite the fact that O'Reilly went and did his "talking over the guest" thing a bit, I actually thought O'Reilly was classier than I'd expected, too. I'm eager to see the rest of the interview.
25I love the video on Jezebel. The lady goes "having a choice is different than being pro-choice."
Hmmmm, ponder. I don't think there's a difference.
26And apparently the fact that Palin hunts, is beautiful, and get's her hands dirty makes her qualified.
