Just in time to cool off this heated election, Baskin-Robbins has released two spanking new flavors, one for each of the candidates. Ever wonder what two scoops of McCain tastes like? His flavor, Straight Talk Crunch is:
Caramel ribbon, chocolate pieces, candy red states and crunchy mixed nuts swirled into White Chocolate ice cream.
Think a lick of Barack is more your taste? His flavor, Whirl of Change, is:
Peanut-nougat ice cream whirled with chunks of chocolate-covered peanut brittle and a caramel ribbon.
I think they're willing to look the other way on the whole Obama doesn't like ice cream thing . . . Given the (banana) split of the country, what would election-themed flavors be without a chance to vote for your favorite? You can, in the Flavor Debate '08. From now until Oct. 20, sample the candidates' sweet stuff and vote online or in stores for the winner. I wonder if the ice cream war could be a useful replacement for the old Electoral College? It would be a sweeter contest, to be sure.

9Eventually, all these versions of ice cream sound and taste the same. They're all same white base with various chocolate/caramel/peanut mix-ins. I don't think either of these is that different from what's already out there. They should have made them more different.

11Just reading the line: "Ever wonder what two scoops of McCain tastes like?" Made me feel scared and sick and angry and confused. Yes, I did want to know what he tasted like, but then I felt dirty and shameful. And then I remembered that I love ice cream, but then I also remembered that I didn't want to have an intimate sexual experience with an elderly man. It was really just a horrible experience. I'm thinking of suing Citizen Sugar.

Both sound pretty gross to me. I like my ice cream simple and without chunks or ribbons of stuff in it.

Ice creams are so complicated! I just want some plain old chocolate or coffee flavored ice cream, or sorbet.
28ooh, coffee. And I had an amazing lemon sorbet the other day. For some reason after my last surgery I became completely lactose intolerant. I hear it is common after gallbladder removal. But it sucks. So I am replacing my Friday ice cream with a quest to find the best sorbet or sherbet there is!
29That does suck, GS. I have lactose intolerance, too (I call it my Asian Milk Problem). But ice cream is just so yummy that I'm willing to live with the consequences occasionally

33For the most part I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to ice cream as well. My two favorites are french vanilla and coffee.
But I'd really have to think hard to find a kind of ice cream I DIDN'T like, and wouldn't eat if it was the only ice cream option.

36ricklmc, maybe you'd prefer Nader-Tots. They're fried potatoes delicately wrapped in caramel ice cream covered with hot butterscotch and cheese. I'm getting those in November.
