Of course the point of politicizing the Justice Department was to put people in positions to do things exactly the way the Administration wanted them done. Once you've got the people in place, its difficult to get them all out.
1The Russians are not that stupid. They have something up their sleeves.
2And that is NOT the face of someone who didn't do anything wrong.
3I'm curious, how were these people hired illegally? Because they didn't meet the requirements for the job? Because they leaned more right than the NYT thinks they should?

6But that doesn't make her illegally hired. She may have been unethical in her job, but she wasn't hired illegally.

8Dave, this is an old story. Mukasey said a week ago that he wasn't going to press criminal charges against the wrongoers but according to one article "Mukasey used his sharpest words yet to criticize the senior leaders who took part in or failed to stop illegal hiring practices during the tenure of his predecessor, Alberto Gonzales."
You can't make something go away by pretending it didn't happen. They were turning away applicants who had anything in their backgrounds that suggested they were Democrats and specifically asking things like why the candidate wanted to serve President Bush.
9I personally think it's hard to make a statistical case out of 16 people.
