This scenario is ever present on TV, (LC, Lo, and Audrina for instance) but having to pick sides between friends is not a far stretch from reality. It's inevitable that friends fight, they may even have to break up [1], but when you're an innocent bystander, you often times suffer as well. If you've ever been in this situation, you know how it feels to be pulled in different directions and how difficult it can be to remain neutral. And unfortunately, in extreme cases, you're almost forced to pick sides.
