Dear Sugar
I know that I am supposed to get in at least 20-30 minutes of exercise (preferably cardio) at least three times a week. The problem is that I have a super busy schedule and by the time I actually get home from my long day of work and client meetings all I want to do is chill out and unwind. Can you give me any suggestions to get motivated? Lazy Mazie

Dear Lazy Mazie
Everyone is on a time crunch these days but you've got to get that heart rate up to have a healthy mind and body. Don't make me list the myriad of correlations between health benefits and physical fitness. You all know them and ignoring them any longer is putting you that much more at risk for illness and a shorter life.
I know that it's hard to get yourself going again just when you walk in the door from a long and weary day, but here's an idea ... Load up your ipod with songs that move you. Let the music do what's it's meant to do. When that one song that gets you going is blasting loudly, you aren't going to be able to fight the urge to dance (...I mean jog).
While on my trip out here to San Francisco visiting Sugar Publishing HQ, I asked Home Team Sugar what inspires them to shake it like a Polaroid picture. Here's the list:
1. Lose Control - Missy Elliott
2. Black Eyed Peas - Pump It
3. Beyonce - Crazy In Love
4. AC/DC - Shook Me All Night Long
5. Fall Out Boy - Dance, Dance
6. Paradise City - Guns N' Roses
7. LL Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out
8. Ray Of Light - Madonna
9. Jennifer Lopez - Let's Get Loud
10. Shake It - Eminem

Aww look at that Pimpin Jennas Blog woo hoo!!
1I have this problem. And between dinner n the kids ahha kid I mean its 9 b4 I can even get me time. I tho have no Ipod so me and my high BP and cholestrol settle for ice cream. Dont be like me.
i feel the same way... except i don't have kids so i shouldn't have any excuse. but after a boring day at the office (which is every day) i like to put on some of my dance mixes and dance around my room. then i do my exercises... great ones are in this month's Cosmo Style & Beauty extra thing they sent me. 7 exercises to look great in jeans. i love them!
2Something that works for me: Everytime I get a new magazine in the mail, I promise myself I wont read it until I am on an exercise machine. So if I really want to read it- I know I better get to the gym! That way you also have something interesting to do while working out (to get your mind off how much it stinks...)
3Not very popular, but doing your workout first thing in the morning energizes you for the day. The first three days of getting up early is definately hard, but after the third day, it gets easier and easier.
I've just added the ipod to the mix, and very happy about it.
4Dear Sugar.....thanks for the shoutout! Girls....I am back for a bit. I am using someone else's wireless.
5I usually do an hour of cardio anywhere between 11 and 1. The ipod has changed how I workout...I make a new Playlist every month. I agree with Dear...when you have a really hot song playing, you turn it up and really work it out on the eliptical:)
Jenna, I am a freak on that elliptical, I love it!!!
6Me too SM! I feel like I get so much more out of that than the Stairmaster or treadmill. Especially if you use the one that you can move your arms with? Unfortunately, my gym doesn't have those:(
7The ipod is a must, OutKast has some great workout songs, Gwen Stefani, (Blow ya Mind, Luxurious, Rich Girl) Black Betty is an old school one by Ram Jam, I heard it in one of my spin classes and it is a motivator!!!
8That is the one I use, I did 8500 strides yesterday, so I am soooo sore today I couldn't drag my booty to the gym...
9Jenna I'm so happy, you and SailorM check out my new blog.
10BTW, I love "Dance, Dance" by Fallout boy and it's great for the eliptical
11Damn SM! That is super hardcore. I think I am usually like 5600 or something like that. I NEED the arms one, dammit!
12cali...off i go to check it out hon.
i read a novel when i'm on the bike, and since my laptop is small enough, i can prop it up on my treadmill or on the little console area on the bike and browse through the web or play a video game
13also, i say get a picture of your favorite celeb (favorite body) and just keep lookin at it every once in a while, while you're exercising

I agree with the morning workout idea. It doesn't work for everyone but that's how I keep myself motivated to exercise.. you don't have to workout for hours on end to keep in shape, so even if you're getting a 30 minute workout that's enough and you'll feel great about yourself. You'll feel more energized throughout the day and imo it's a lot easier to do it in the morning than after coming home from a long day of work when you just want to RELAX. And agreed, a good ipod mix never hurts either
16Yaaay for Jenna's playlist! Mixmaster Jenna!
