Hallmark just announced that it will be adding three gay marriage cards to its assortment. It will be featuring two tuxedos, overlapping hearts, or intertwined flowers with either "Best wishes" or "Two hearts. One promise" written inside in order to keep the greeting neutral and appropriate for commitment ceremonies as well. Since California joined Massachusetts in legalizing gay marriage, Hallmark had to fulfill the consumer demand. Hallmark spokeswoman Sarah Gronberg Kolell said Hallmark wants to "be as relevant as possible to as many people as we can," although its stores can choose whether or not they want to add these latest offerings.
It seems only right that gay-marriage cards exist in the market place, but with so many people against this new law, it's not surprising that not everyone will be as excited as I am. What are your thoughts? Do you think selling gay marriage is a genius idea or do you not feel comfortable with these cards on the shelf at your local Hallmark store?

where are the lesbian cards?
1well whether or not ppl agree with the law, the fact is its happening. and gay ppl who r getting married deserve to be congratulated just the same
2Yay!
3Definitely took them long enough for them to realize that gay people like greeting cards too!
4*one too many "them" in that sentence haha
5love it! love it love it! it's a great idea! possibly a bit opportunistic but you can't argue with equality when it comes to a nice greeting card! love this idea!
6Yay!! Good for Hallmark!
7YAY, now I don't have to home-make them!
8I'm totally comfortable about this and happy with it. I have friends who will be thrilled to get one of these.
9it just upsets me that people might actually be uncomfortable by this. like how can gay marriage cards hurt straight people?
10and yeah what about the lesbian cards?!
YAYYY!!! but ya I agree where are the lesbian cards?
11it's a good idea, but bring on the lesbian cards, too!
12i hate the whole idea of pre-printed cards. obviously most people feel differently, but if you care enough to really send the very best, it should be written by YOU especially for the recipient, not mass produced by hallmark and signed by you after a run to target.
13Only three? And I agree with what was said earlier, where are the ones for lesbian marriages?
14I'd make my own card if a gay friend was getting married anyway. ;p I recently had a pair of lesbian friends get married and I couldn't find a suitable card... nearly drew hair over the groom on one of the hallmark cards. ;p
15YAY too!
16I just dont even want to make a comment on this one.
17This is great as my gay best friend is getting a commitment ceremony!
18Aren't there lesbian cards though, too?
Why only 3?
19I'm glad they are getting with the program and making gay marriage cards, but if those were my only options I would honestly make my own card.
Yay, this is good! Except I hate greeting cards, but still, obviously many people use them!
20Oh Goodie, keep'm coming. I want to see some for the ladies.
