Update: Sadly, it seems earlier reports are now true. Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones has died after suffering a brain aneurysm. It was previously and widely reported that she had passed away and reports proved conflicting.
Tubbs Jones, 58, was the first African-American woman to represent Ohio in Congress. She has served five terms in Congress and was thought able to easily win a sixth in November.
She garnered attention earlier this year, firmly supporting Hillary Clinton's bid for the Democratic nomination for president. Tubbs Jones drew some criticism for her support of Clinton instead of Barack Obama, though she has a legacy of staunch support for many African-American candidates.
We will update as more information becomes available.

Geez - it's been a rough couple of weeks in the news with all these deaths.
1So sad. I didn't agree with her on much politically, but did meet her very briefly and she seemed like an incredibly nice, genuine person. I'm sure the people of Cleveland will miss her greatly.
I am wondering who will fun for her seat now.
2That's very sad.
3That's very sad, but Headline News and FOX have both said they were mistaken, she hasn't passed away.
4I read several places that she has, but I am now seeing reports that she hasn't, as well.
5Bloomberg is also confirming, but we will definitely keep our eye on it.
6Very sad, not only about the aneurysm, but also the premature reportings of Congresswoman Tubbs' status.
7Oh goodness!! That is so sad. My thoughts and prayers are with her, her family and friends.
8I sure hope she's alright. Imagine how odd it would be to read reports of your death when you didn't even die! How eerie that would be.
9not saying that she didn't die. but i've been seeing articles with the updated info saying she's in critical condition right next to her report of death.
10Has she passed on? I heard she died earlier today. Now they're saying she's in critical condition?
11wow - that's really scary, and something that you can't really even forecast happening. i hope that she's in good care and that she recovers. i know from experience that it's a touch and go thing - especially when it ruptures - so we can only pray for her and hope that she comes out of this.
12I just read that she has indeed passed away.
Very, very sad.
13I grew up outside of Cleveland, and I always looked up to her. I had the privilege of meeting her a few times and she was a very nice woman. She will be dearly missed.
14Rest In Peace.
"I am wondering who will fun for her seat now."
lilkimbo, I wonder how this will affect her super delegate vote? Has anyone heard about this?
