One of my closest friends is single. She does very well for herself and whenever she wants to treat herself to something nice, she buys herself a nice piece of jewelry. She's of the mindset that since she's single and has the means to do so herself, she shouldn't wait around for a man to buy things for her! Since I don't have a man to shower me with diamonds either, I'm OK with buying myself fun jewelry, but I've got to be honest with you, I'm willing to wait for the nice things to come from my future significant other. What about you? Do you think buying yourself nice jewelry is a do or a don't?

Do! No sense waiting around to find someone to give you what you want, especially if you have the means to get it on your own!
1If I had the dough I would definatly be buying myself some rocks!
2do! buy yourself something nice!
3Hmmm.... well, I have some odd superstitions about buying jewelry for myself, so all of the jewelry I buy is pretty much costume jewelry under $30. Anything nice I like to get as a gift, to lend significance to the piece. I inherited a lot of jewelry from my grandmother which is very special to me.
4Do, Do, Do! If you want a beautiful piece of jewelery and you can afford it than buy it. I bought my first great quality diamond earrings and I think I appreciate them more.
5I think it's silly to wait for a man to buy jewelry for you. If you can afford to buy yourself something nice whether it be jewelry or a car, and if you want these things buy them yourself. I like to get nice things from boyfriends to let me know that they appreciate me, but why wait on them? Suppose you make more money than them, then what? Waiting forever aren't you.
6Yea Krradford!
7I think it's silly to wait. If I see a nice ring, necklace, bracelet, or watch and can afford it, I'm going to buy it. Why wait for someone to do something when you can do it yourself?
8Hell yes, of course!
I actually prefer to buy my own jewelry--I never like what I'm given.
9It a DO! Especially if you can afford it, don't wait for someone to buy it for you. Jewelry are an asset and yummy eye candies
10My family/culture is big on jewelry, so I actually wouldn't want anyone but myself, my parents, or my future husband to pick out jewelry for me, because I'm kinda serious about the jewelry I collect
Someone's who's just a boyfriend would not (and should not) be buying the
kind of expensive jewelry I or my family would buy. I guess it's just my culture, jewelry for us is a family investment and it means a lot, you don't buy it or gift it unless you're going
all-out and spending a serious chunk of dough on it.
11I think its totally ridiculous to wait for a guy to buy you jewelry. What if the guy you end up with is horrible at picking out jewels?
12Im old fashioned. I've never bought real jewellry for myself. My beau knows exactly what i like and buys me plenty, so i'm all good.
13Uh why not? If you can afford it and you like it, just buy it!
14i'd say do it if you want to! i don't think i'd buy myself something super traditional but i would spend money on nice jewellery if something caught my eye and i could afford it! of course!
15Dang.
16*It's
Who's OC now? lol
Do! I'd definitely do it... if I had the money
17I think that even if I had the money, I wouldn't. I would probably be saving that money for a trip or something. Don't get me wrong, I love jewelry, but it's not high on my list.
18I always buy myself jewelry that catches my eye....i never thought about it in the sense of not waiting for someone to buy it for me.
if i see, and i want it, i buy it. done.
Dan buys me jewelry too...i think it's harder for him (or anyone else who buys me jewelry) because i like unique pieces.
19When I get my first bonus check, I'm buying myself pearls. I've always wanted a pearl necklace, but want one that is perfect - not too old-fashioned but classic nonetheless. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one that can find the perfect one.
20if u've got the money, DEF go for it!!!
21If you've got the money the HELLS YEAH!! I bought an amber ring when I graduated to remember the occaision. Its pretty awesome. Being on the receiving end of unwearable jewelry sucks.
22I always buy myself jewelry if I find something that I like. Besides, most men don't have an eye for these things.
23danzerdrea7, I totally hate that too. When I was sixteen, I hated pearls... And for some reason, my grandparents gave me pearls to mark my sweet sixteenth. I like pearls *now*, but it was definitely a gift I grew into. I know it's the thought that counts... but that was pretty thoughtless. :/
24I only get gifts like jewelery on Valentine's Day or my birthday so if in between I want something I'm not going to ask him to get it for me. If I have the money I can get it myself.
25I do!!! Just did it today too; a beautiful ring for the all important right hand caught my attention and I had to have it!! Getting jewelry from a significant other is (i'm assuming) nice but you have to treat yourself
26If you want it and can afford it, buy it. Why wait for someone else -- you never know if your main squeeze will be someone who doesn't buy jewellery as gifts!
27Or whether your main squeeze is even competent at picking out jewelry. I once received a pair of earrings from a very good man...the earrings were obviously expensive, and also suited for no one but a 95-year-old grandma.
28The other day, Dan bought me diamond studs... and I was like WTF???
he was like "just because".
ok, come to find out, he had spent the night one night, and knocked one of my curling irons into the toilet!
1. best curling iron
2. this is why the toilet seat MUST stay down at ALL times!!!!
i don't curl my hair everyday, so i hadn't noticed it yet.
when he told me, i was like,"aww...i thought you did something major"
i was cool about it, until i needed to use that curling iron this morning!
but i did like the earrings. maybe i'll wear them tomorrow to show appreciation. (okay, they would look cute with the outfit i'm wearing tomorrow)

30Everyone should be able to treat themselves sometime or all the time - there is nothing wrong with it. Why wait around for someone to buy you something when you can do it yourself?
31I'm crafty so whenever I need new jewellery I just make some of my own. I wouldn't have an issue buying it for myself though. A boyfriend has NEVER bought me any.
Sniff sob.
I doubt my current boyfriend would know where to start looking... etsy.com would be a good bet though.
32I say do. Occasionally I buy myself a nice necklace or a bracelet. Most of my day to day jewelery cost under thirty bucks and is great for a little bit of glitter, but when I'm out with my man or dressing up somewhere special, it's awesome to pull out the expensive jewels.
33While I've never bought fine jewelry for myself, I would if I were this age and still single. If you have the means, why not?? Luckily I've always had some sucker that gave me crap that I never wear anymore.
