Even if you don't have joint bank accounts, certain couples still have quite an opinion as to where and how their significant other spends money. Generally speaking, women like to spend on material goods and even if they aren't shopping beyond their means, some men just don't understand the importance of a new pair of shoes or flattering new jeans. But what is a woman to do if that's the case? Well hide her purchases, of course! So to all you shopaholics out there, tell me, do you hide the evidence of your shopping sprees from your significant other?

Heck, yes. I love clothes, handbags, shoes, denim, beauty products, you name it. My ex used to get super pissed at me about wasting my money, even though it was mine. He had a point I guess, but I basically hid my purchases.
1no not at all
2I completely agree. I'm usually pretty up font about what I spend, but when it comes to beauty products I'd rather just go alone and put it away before my husband sees it than hear about how I don't need new eyeliner. He's the type that likes me in jeans and no make up, so it's really hard to argue that I need anything in that department!
3I still live with my mum and so basically I do hide some, well, most of my purchases.
4Honestly - and sorry for sounding like a 13 year old boy - but he can suck it if he has a problem with it.
5NO! I would never hide anything from my boyfriend. In fact, I usually immediately tell him about new purchases because I am so excited. I also take pride in my ability to find amazing deals, so I also like to brag to him about my bargain-hunting skills.
6No, I don't really feel the need to hide my purchases since my boyfriend and I have separate accounts. He knows I spend a lot of money on clothes and shoes, and I know he spends a lot on DVDs and CDs.
7Hmmm, I'm the opposite kind of...with the ex, I had problems with his spending...I felt like he spent beyond his means without thinking about it, and he was very serious and talked about our future together, so I had a huge problem with it, because if we were really together forever, that would be my problem too!!!!
I don't think he had a problem with my spending, but I don't buy clothes/jewelry/etc. etc. very much like a lot of girls do. And I always try to limit myself, even though I'm living with my parents and have their support right now, I try to save as much money as I can, for an emergency or something...of course I do go treat myself every now and then, lol.
8Sometimes. If I bought a lot of things, I will combine them all into one bag, so he doesn't see 15 different shopping bags. I'll end up showing him what I got in the end anyway because I always get excited, it just looks better to have a lot of things in one bag instead of a few things in a lot of bags.
9I'm not going to run home after shopping and show him everything I got; it's not really his business if I'm spending my own money. But if he asks me what I bought or if something's new, I'm not going to lie or hide it from him.
10I didn't do this until recently (my last two shopping trips actually). If I buy something for myself and not my daughter I feel horrible (like the mother's guilt thing/post on Lil Sug earlier today). But I have to weigh it out: She already has everything she needs! What about me?
My mother insists I buy stuff for me when I have the extra money. Or if I tell her I bought myself something she pats me on the back. I used to shop like crazy before I had my daughter. My mom's really big on me keeping my prebaby/marriage identity. So if everything is taken care of and paid for then I go shopping. And if he were to ask me I wouldn't lie about it. A few pieces that I buy are to keep him interested anyway (I dress up for him on the weekends).
I'm just not bringing it up since I've had more money lately. His turn is next (after my birthday). There are a lot of things I want to buy him right now. And then my daughter again for new Fall/Winter clothes and toys for Christmas.
..but right now I'm adding new pieces to my work wardrobe and buying things for everyday and going out. I'm passed the hard part of being a new mother so I'm due some new things.
I am, however, buying more wiser than I did before I became a mother. (I'm not out to be a tight ass like my father-in-law trying to get the BEST deal, but I am shopping around more and passing up a few things.) And I try to buy pieces now that I know I can mix and match more than I did before.
I've already made a list of what I want to add to my fall and winter wardrobe... but I probably won't be like "Hey, I bought all this SH!T" next time either, until after I do my shopping spree for him.
11No hiding for me! My financial advisor (Adam) stresses the importance of finding someone who has the same financial goals as I do. When I told my boyfriend how I just blew my entire paycheck on an awesome pair of heels, he laughed and told me he did the same thing with his suit. I knew I was in love! Like the Adam says, the best investment you can ever make is in yourself.
12Chloe, you are exactly like me. Love a bargain, love showing them off. I dont hide anything, my beau always knows cause i struggle to fit it in the closet when i get home!
13It depends on what I've bought and whether I owe him money too...
14Not really - unless it's really a minor purchase that he wouldn't "get" like new nailpolish or something
15No I don't hide purchases. He's going to see the credit card bill anyway.
16The only purchases I hide are food-related: baking supplies, which are often
17rather special and pricey, and such stuff. We have completely different approach to spending, he prefers to spend on "big" lasting things, like sports wear, electronics and stuff and save e.g. on groceries, while I have
a problem with buying expensive things in absolute numbers, but love spending on food and cosmetics (I know his approach is better, but that's how I am). So I hide the small things from him, but when I need to buy something more expensive, I tell him and he persuades me to do it
I don't really hide much, except my Marc Jacobs bag, Hayden-Harnett bag and Frye boots receipts.
But we aren't married and don't have a joint account anyway.
18Oh god no!
19I feel so proud when I go out and buy things, I love to show them off to him!
Honestly, I tell my boyfriend EVERYTHING I wouldn't be able to hide it!
i chose other. it's not that he's always around, but i don't lie.
20Other: I don't hide anything or lie, but we don't always shop together.
21hehehe my make up habbit kills him!!
22I don't really hide purchases but I don't advertise it either.
I usually buy second hand clothes because many of them have a classic style that can be worn for years on end. I don't really get told that I'm wasting money when I buy something that I will wear or use.
However my boyfriend has an issue when I add to my ever growing book collection or buy makeup or jewelery that I really don't need, regardless of the price.
23he cant tell me what to buy and what to buy. i know my limits while shopping. as long as im not using up his money, he cant say anything about it
24he cant tell me what to buy and what not to buy**
lol, i got too worked up:O
