Perhaps by chance, most bartenders are cute and charming. I guess they have to be, since most of their money earned comes from tips, but catering to the drunk and sometimes belligerent would make me less than lovable! I have never dated a bartender myself, but I have a good girlfriend who has always been attracted to them — and the more tattoos, the better. So how do you feel about bartenders? In general, do you get turned on or turned off by these guys?

...although I have met/know some of the cutest/sweetest bartenders in my area...its all about how they are as people, and not their occupation. Thats like dating a football player because he's a football player.
no chance. for one, he would work nights with a bunch of drunk girls surrounding him. secondly, you can't be a bartender forever..it's not really a stable job (i know i know someone will come back at me for that comment, and i realize you CAN technically be a bartender forever but common, really? that's what you envision the father of your children doing for a profession?)
My boyfriend is a bartender...so am I for that matter;) and it is really a lot more stable than you'd think, especially in a failing economy! A bartender's job is always there b/c no matter what...happy or sad...people drink:)
We didn't meet each other in a bar though! So when we met, we had no idea of the other's career.
And skigurl...they may be around drunken girls all night, but it just makes them want to rush home to the sober woman that they are with:) drunk stupid girls/guys just make the bartenders realize that we are happy we aren't with that person! the only thing drunken people at a bar are good for to the bartender is if they are single, it means an easy one night stand. Otherwise it's usually an act of flirtation that is completely meaningless on the part of the bartender just so that we can get you to stay at our bar, order drinks and tip us well. Remember for the most part, we're usually sober:) And how well do drunk people come off to a sober person? lol.
For the most part, we usually don't think much of the drunk girls/guys at the bar! And remember, for you guys when you go to the bar it's to have fun. When we're behind it, we're in robot/job mode and actor mode.
not always. but i had a huge crush on the bartender at this bar i went to in college every weekend. luckily, he lives near me and he's a friend of a friend so i actually still see him once in a while. he doesn't bartend anymore though so i'm not just attracted to him for being a bartender.
In LA all the bartenders and waiters are gorgeous because they are all wannabe actors.
i like cute bartenders who have that badass thing going for them to flirt with. so i'm attracted to them in an i want to make out with you sorta way. but in reality i want a guy with ambition so unless the bartender is working his way through grad school or law school or something, then i'm not really attracted!
When I was younger, I dug bartenders, but I also WAS a bartender. I grew out of it pretty quickly when I was spending 12 hours a night working with them.
I put other, I imagine there are some good looking ones. But if you're above 25 and working as a bartender, than where is your ambition? And lack of ambition isn't attractive.
this post makes me think of the movie Cocktail, with tom cruise..
I don't think you can really judge someone solely on their bartender status (unless they were employed by a really sketchy establishment, I suppose.)
I am not generally attracted to bartenders- but sometimes yes. Its winning them over so they give you drinks for free is the hard part
I'm more interested in men with higher education and a career that requires ambition. I see bartending as more of a job than a career, as wrong as it may seem, so I might date a bartender in college, but...I'm not sure if I would want to spend the rest of life with one.
I think the hours would drive me nuts. I need before-bed time with my man every night
How about girl bartenders? Some of us are cuties! And for anyone who says it's not a "stable" job, many bartenders at nicer restaurants or nightclubs make more than a person with a college degree and a day job! One of the guys I work with has five bachelor's degrees and two master's (I live in a college town) and hasn't bothered to get a "real" job because he makes more money bartending! He just keeps going to school and getting more degrees.
There are plenty of good looking bartenders out there, but I have a rule never to date them. Especially dating bartenders at a bar that you love and frequent = bad idea. Sleeping around with a bartender will guarantee that you never go back to that bar again.
Grammatical dilemma: have I misplaced apostrophes? I can't remember if it's bachelors or bachelor's.
Oh, I just saw the comments about bartending not being a "career". I beg to differ! Being a skilled bartender, is like being a chef, just look at the Modern Mixologist!
When I was single, I absolutely loved bartenders (and bouncers, and djs...). Something about them just did it for me. Ah, Tony, I'll never forget you
never dated one but i guess i'd be open to dating one! we'd have opposite hours though... so that would suck.
I am a bartender and I am dating one :]
no way. terrible environment. and i'm sorry, but every time i've worked in a restaurant my co-workers had mad issues, even the hot quiet bartender dudes.
As a bartender, I have to admit I often get approached by a lot of women while working. Of course, I know that for the most part they're just trying to score a few free drinks, but occasionally I come across what I guess you could call a "bartender groupie," who'll start off by asking if I know how to make some obscure drink, move on to what other bartenders I know in the area, and follow up with the classic "do you get a lot of women with this job?" Thankfully, I own 50% of the my bar, so I'm not ALWAYS behind the bar when I'm working. But I will say although I DID meet my lady while bartending and she DID try and con me for a few free drinks at first, she's one of the coolest people I know, and I wouldn't trade the experience of meeting her for anything in the world.
As for me am in love with ma home gurl who is bartender and am a married man with one child...we went out for drink with this gurl several times and she dont want to let me in to her place and i realy want to be with her she is so cute and sexy.
