Fifty-eight percent of you said you're are turned on by tattoos and although just as many women get them as men, a study published earlier this week concluded that women remove tattoos more often than men. The 2006 study in the Archives of Dermatology said:
Women also reported that they felt stigmatized by the tattoos. For example, 93 percent said having to hide the tattoos on occasion was a factor in the removal compared with 20 percent of men. About 40 percent of women endured negative comments at work, in public or in school compared with 5 percent of men.

Since laser tattoo removal is painful and expensive, tattoos should still be looked at as permanent. But for all you inked women out there, whether it's because you feel stigmatized or you've simply grown out of them, tell me, do you regret any of your tattoos? If so, have you, or would you consider removing them?

L.a.p.a.
I only have the one and I don't regret it at all. I have always thought about geting one but it took me till last year to settle on something that I was willing to be inked with forever. It is also in a place that very few people will ever see it.
1Luckily no.
2All the tatts I have mean something to me.
My next tatt will probably say "Amorres Perros" since I just got my heart broken.
The only thing I regret is I haven't gotten anymore since my first one. I have a clover on my right shoulder that represents my heritage and I keep meaning to add to it like a charm bracelet but never have. Maybe next month.
3i have 5, and i love them all. But i made sure to go with something simple (flowers, chosen based on the victorian language of flowers).
Although, tattooing was illegal in my state till I was 17, and as soon as it was legalized, all the girls in my class who were 18 went and got themselves tramp stamps, as was the fashion at the time. Most if not all of them have gotten them covered up, removed, or are in the process of getting them removed. because tattoos are something you should totally do with your friends on a whim. dumbasses.
4I am too chicken to get one
5Laura: Amores Perros=one of the best movies of all time!
Yes It is Marni7.
6i have no urge to get one because there is nothing i want bad enough to have on me forever
7to the girl commenting on getting tattooed with friends on a whim. i have quite of few of those and they are among my favorites because everytime i look at them i think of the day i got them and how much fun the whole ordeal was. sometimes people ask what the "meaning" behind the artwork is. i dont think it has to be more than you liking it. none of mine represent overcoming a traumatic event or a passage in life. they are just beautiful drawing that i get to wear as accessories everyday.
8actually the only one i regret is the one that was supposed to represent something very important in my life. about a lifestyle i had chosen . soo i dont know. regret is a weird thing.
Ugh yeah, I regret mine. Not that I have anything against tattoos in general, I love them - just not the ones I picked out. I got them for the wrong reasons.
9I love the one that I have--I spent a lot of time thinking about it, and what it meant to me, so it wasn't a drunken-impulse thing--and I'm thinking about getting another
10Nope. Each one has special meaning.
11I have been thinking about getting one for a while, but I am so scared that I'd regret it. Mostly because I look at other people's tattoos and am like, "he is DEFINITELY going to regret getting the bluebirds of happiness with dripping blood when he moves out of his emo phase!" Or just like, "she must have really thought that tramp stamp was awesome 10 years ago..."
12I would never get one. I just can't picture myself at 78 years old with a tattoo.
13i want to get my first tattoo when i graduate from nursing school next june. it's taken so much hard work that i don't think i'll regret it later on, but never say never.
14I want one, but I am afraid i will regret it. one of my bff's wants us to go and get them together, and was hurt at first when i told her no...then all the women in my long time boyf's family went and got matching ones on their feet...to be honest, i felt sort of left out...he and i will probably be married soon and i thought they considered me a part of the family...oh well. he said he doesn't like tattoos that much though, and so if i get one, it will be with him.
15I have 4 and there will be many more to come. I love all of them. No regrets. Just that I don't have the money right now to get everything I want done. But I'm working on it.
16I have a tattoo on my back and my future MIL is practically obsessed with it. She is very anti-tattoo and always wants to ask what it is, what did my mother say, blah blah blah. Each time she starts about how much she hates tattoos and what does mine look like, I say "I've been with your son for 5 years and you have yet to see my tattoo, so I don't see why it's such a big deal."
17That's the only time I wish I didn't have it; sometimes I get tired of hearing about "those kinds of girls."
I will never get one. I'm a wuss when it comes to pain and I change my mind way too often. Not that I have anything against them, though. Just not for me!
18I got a star on the inside of my ankle on a whim during spring break years ago. I loved it for the first 2 weeks. Now I hate it. I can't wait till I have enough moeny to get it removed.
19I would never get mine removed... I mean I got them (totally 4 now) for a reason! They are all smaller.than the size of a quarter, and each holds a special meaning to me. Sure some people might not like them or may not understand them but I do and that is all that matters.
20i wouldnt say i necessarily regret them, but i've been thinking about having them removed.
21I have a clover on my wrist with my niece and nephews initials around it, and a Jesus fish on my foot. The only regret I have is I should have waited until my sister decided she was done having kids before I got a tattoo devoted to them, lol.
I have plans of getting a tattoo for my own children, and also one for my husband, whichwill probably be a claddagh ring with his name in the middle.
22I have 6... with two more in the planning stage. I draw mine, so they're always something special. ^_^
23I really want one, but I'm waiting for the perfect idea.
24I have none to regret. I really wanted one about 10 years ago but never got around to it. Probably isn't going to happen now.
25Yes. *sigh*
I have 4 tattoos and regret 3 of them. That's when I get for running out and getting inked as soon as I turned 18.
26Nope. Im sure i want 2 more, actually.

I have seen some rather dumb ones such as:
I think some women regret theirs because they got someone else's name instead of theirs or the whole tramp stamp thing isn't as cute as they thought. Let's be honest, if you get it there it's for attention, right? What? it's to hide it forever?
27nope. dont regret any of mine.
only "regret" i have is getting them in places that are hard to hide. i have one on my chest [big one], on my forearm, so it gets kinda hard to cover when i work or something.
but other than that, i dont believe in regretting ink. if you get something stupid that's your damn fault for being dumb.
it was 2 years before my parents even found out about mine
28Don't regret any of mine..thought about it for at least 1/2 a year..idea didnt' change...and went and got it. It means something to me. I am acutally getting more work done on it this Sunday
29RockAndRepublic: I don't regret my tramp stamp. I don't show it off either. The only people that see it completely is the person i am with. I got my tatt years ago before it was called that and before it became a "trend"
Its a very nice artistic tribal design.
but yeah I understand some woman who get things in their lower back and sometimes, it looks sloppy.
30My mom disagrees but as soon as I graduate from college I'm getting a small bird with the words Alis volat propriis... She flies with her own wings in Latin. I asked her about it yesterday but She and this guy at the post office claimed tattoos were the sign of the devil. Idk about alll of that... but I do think I will wait to get the tattoo and if I still want it in 3 years... then I shall get it.
31My mom said the same thing, ThePerfectScore, i frickin laughed.
32So if you get it, you can join me in my basket as we roll to hell.
All of you, get in the basket.
I got mine after my wonderful friend's funeral four years ago. I went in and asked for it and the tattoo guy showed me pictures of all the other tattoos just like it he did that day. I love that all these strangers to me loved my friend so much they wanted to remember him just like I did. I don't think that kind of love is something I'll ever regret. [It's 1 inch by 2 inches on the inside of my ankle.]
My boss has made a lot of comments about it, even going as far as talking with a few other people for 15 minutes in front of me about how tattoos ruin people's lives. It really makes me mad and makes me want to get more just to make her have to look at them.
33i have 4, and i love all of them.
34i got my first one as soon as i turned 18.
i was that weird kid that sat in the back of class coloring on herself when i was little.
definitely more to come.
each one has a story and remind me of that time in my life.
the one on my forearm is a celtic cross with a claddagh in the middle, and my mom got it too on her back.
it was my 19th birthday present from her.
a lot of people can't believe i talked my mother into getting one.
if you knew her, you'd understand
I woke up one morning with the idea for mine- I'm NOT a tatt girl- and I chose well. I made it in a discreet place and in mirror image, so only I can read it. it says: PASSION. -it's the most important concept in the universe (passion in life, love, work, self) and when I had it done, I knew that if I ever looked at it in mirror and regretted it- that meant that something was not right in my life. It's in a place on my upper back that is never revealed and I will NEVER regret it. But, I HATE the trashy lower back tattoos!!!! Here in Italy they call them "cum-catchers"!?!??! I can't imagine growing old with some silly butterfly coming out of your butt!?
35My three tattoos were well-planned and done by quality artists. I don't regret them. I got a large piece that I debated seven years on just to make sure I really wanted it.
36I am a piercing girl. I have 16...just in my ears and tongue. the tongue has grown over, and while I don't wear a lot of earring to work, i still put them all in from time to time to ensure none of them grow over!
37i have a half sleeve and four other tattoos. i regret none of them as i know each and every one of them is right for me. i chose carefully and i couldn't be happier.
38the thing that kills me..... i've had so many older women come up and ask me what kind of an example i'm setting for my child. or, how can i, as a mother, present myself in such a way.
when you love your tattoos, you learn to let that kind of crap roll off your back. it's still just insane someone would believe i don't know how to parent or would assume i'm not a good parent simply because i have lots of tattoos.
Unfortunately, yes i do regret one of my tattoos. Removal is not an option and it can't really be changed into anything else. Thank goodness it's in a place that is covered on me most of the time.
39NO, they all took a lot of thought. and when i get old at least i can say, i lived life how i thought fit. and have no regrets
40I have a tattoo on my hip that is for 'special' people or anyone who sees me in a bathing suit. I also have a small one on my wrist. It's noticeable but it's me. I do cover it up with a watch or makeup when I'm trying to impress people for a job but I love it.
41No regrets. About anything ever. I have 9 and will be getting more as long as I can afford them. That is hilarious that people think they're a sign of the devil. As if there were such a thing as the devil! I love morons, they make me feel so good about myself.
42No I don't have one yet.
43ThePerfectScore- I love this: "I'm getting a small bird with the words Alis volat propriis... She flies with her own wings in Latin." That could be really beautiful. I'm not a tatt person. I just change my mind/style all the time and can't imagine I'd be happy with one thing permanently on my body for the rest of my life.
44Also- I do always feel bad when I see people with tattoos that seem ridiculous for a lifetime- i.e. I saw a girl (probably 18/19) who had a giant red CareBear on her inner wrist. I was a CareBear lover at 10, but when I'm 65? Probably not!
45I somewhat regret mine now. But overall, I'm at peace with it, so it's fine.
I got my tattoo many years ago (about half my lifetime ago). At the time, I had a psychological need for the tattoo. The tattoo had an important meaning to me.
Right now, I've outgrown that need. That's why there's a small measure of regret.
But like I said, I made peace with that tattoo. I see it as part of my history. That history is literally documented on my body, and I think that's okay. Sometimes I look at my tattoo, and I'm pleased by how far I've come.
Fortunately, my tattoo is somewhat private. It's easily covered with regular clothing.
46luckily no..
47I've been considering a specific tattoo for about 3 years now... haven't decided on the details or location yet though. Guess I'll be thinking about it for another 3 years!
48I have 3...One is 'survivor' in Ukranian on my wrist because I have survived cancer. Another is LP for Linkin Park, the band I chose to meet with Make a Wish Foundation and have since met twice. And I have a butterfly on my shoulder. If any I regret my butterfly...but not really. I just wish I could put something cooler there but its not like I dislike it. I'd just like to have put something else there
I plan on getting a flowery foot tattoo and some lyrics under the LP next.
49I've considered getting a tattoo, but I know I'll regret it. No one I know really thinks it will make me look better, and I don't have a need for it. The ink gets faded and widens in the skin, making it look a little tacky without yearly touch-ups. However, it would be nice to get one to remind of an obstacle I ever overcome or an important person that has passed. Too bad I'm also a wimp and a prude about doing anything permanent to my body.
