If you haven't heard, the Bay Area's having a heat wave. (Translation: normal Summers anywhere else.) But for folks here, don't listen to KTVU's tips on keeping cool. Soaking kids in alcohol baths works for me every time!

hahaha was this last night?
1I always see the exact same tips on what to do when it's really hot out. I think the people on the news must think we always forget them right after hearing them.

I just stopped watching channel 2 news after 10 years of loyalty because of stupid stuff like
this. It's been happening a lot lately. I miss Steve and Sal, but I couldn't take the rest of them.
3Maybe they meant rubbing alcohol?
4It helps for mosquito bites..
I am a loyal channel 2 news watcher and I saw this when it aired and laughed out loud! Oh and the "avoid alcohol" tip, yeah like I'm really gonna do that!
5They do mean rubbing alcohol. My grandma used to do that to my mom when it was really hot out or she had a fever.
6hahah wth? i never heard an alcohol bath before..
7yup they meant rubbing alcohol could you imagine whose soaking their kids in Colt 45, omg,lol
8I chuckled. rofl
9Yup, they're referring to rubbing alcohol.
10Actually one really good tip that nobody seems to say is one I picked up as a kid on our ranch from the guys that came to help my dad finish a deck...I used it years later when hiking and its great for that too.
Take a bandana,(the oldschool kind) and fold it on the diagonal until it looks like a little belt, about 2 inches thick.
Now, soak it in ice water. Give it a reasonable wring-out so that its still chilly but not totally out of moisture again, and tie it around your neck with the wide part at the back. It helps to cool your head, even though its 'round your neck.
If you can take the cold and you really like the chill effect, tuck little pieces of ice into the wet bandana as you roll it up.
11Oh crap! I been bathing kids in Jack Daniels for years....damm!
