I'm pretty traditional so when it comes to a first date, I'm all for dinner and drinks. Some women prefer just to meet for a quick glass of wine or a cup of coffee on a Saturday, but I don't think you get to know someone as well in such a short amount of time. Over dinner, at least, you get to know what he likes to eat, if he has table manners, and if he's chivalrous. Then there are those adventurous dates that can be pretty telling as well, but perhaps a little too time consuming. With so many options out there, do tell, what's your favorite thing to do on a first date?

I like going for dinner. Somewhere fun too! Where we can sit outside or something.
1I hate movies because you can't talk and sometimes it's akward...
I like the zoo idea...cute animals hahaha.
Or go karting!
Dinner and/or drinks.
2First of all, NEVER have a firt date on a weekend unless you're really into the guy and you know for a fact the face to face chemistry is there and even then... I wouldnt have a first date on a weekend.
When you date during the week you always have an automatic emergency escape plan. Even if you meet at 6 and need to get out of there by 6:30. (I still have homework, gotta wash my hair before bed, early start tomorrow morning!) built in excuse. Also, then even if you REALLY like each other you wont be pushing the date into "What should we do now...?" territory where people get bored or awkward.
I'm a competitive person. If I get a good feel for the guy before the first date (online or on the phone) and I think we'll get along then I'll suggest something like mini-golf, go karting, amusement park or heading to a pub to shoot some pool. It helps me see how serious he takes it, how his sense of humor is, how fragile his ego is and right off the bat if he would pay for me.
If Im not sure about him, a quick lunch or dinner would be good but when planning always throw in "I work the next day so we cant stay out too late!" so if he's a complete nerd you can ditch him without hurting any feelings.
3The zoo is great because if it gets awkward you can leave. I like mini-golf, because it's casual and not very expensive, and this way at least if it's really bad you can still have fun! Pool halls are also good in my experience.
Aww, all this reminiscing is making me miss my dating days lol.
4...dating multiple people that is! Don't worry, I still date my boyfriend
5For a first date, definitely do something where you know there's a "time limit" (i.e., you have to go back to work, have to wake up early the next morning, etc.). So even if it's a bad date, you won't have to spend hours with the person. But if it's a good date, you can look forward to the next one!
I agree with skipping the movie. What's the point in being on a first date if you're just sitting quietly next to him?
Also, if you're an angry/stupid drunk, make sure you don't drink too much!
6Nothing that involves the movies, loud restaurants or excessive drinking. A place like Dave & Buster's would be fun, it's a relaxed environment and you can get a little competition going.
7A new resteraunt neither of us have been to yet.. so if all else fails, you can always chat about how awesome/horrible it is.
8I like just going to dinner or perhaps a good drive.
9Ditto Joesbabygirl
10Something casual and light -- meet at a cafe for a cup of coffee or tea. We'll see where it leads from there.
11Sex of course! Just kidding
Dinner is my fave stand-by. I did recently go hiking as a second date, which was a lot of fun!
12i agree with the first comment =)
13LOL HayleyStark!
I like day time first dates - strolling along market stalls then a light meal at a coffee shop around the corner...
14Rofl, I was going to go with Hayley's first answer, but she beat me to it! (And yes, it was totally a joke. I'm not nearly easy enough to pull off sex on the first date!)
15I like dinner or something equally as casual. Conversation is the best part.
16Dinner or meeting for a drink...no movies or anything where you can't talk and get to know each other better.
17A fun dinner atmosphere, minigolf, movie and ice cream, a fair/carnival is always fun.
