1I hate that phrase! People just use it as an excuse to be a-holes.
2Okay the phrase is over-used yes, but they're 100% absolutely correct! The object of shows like "the Bachelor" or "Flavor of Love" is NOT to become best friends with everyone ELSE on the show, but rather to fall in love with someone, and I'm telling you right now, if you were, in real life, getting hot and heavy with someone and he was hot and heavy with ANOTHER woman, then no way on God's green EARTH would you want to be friends with that woman. If you do, you're probably not that into the guy in the first place, or you think you have him locked up (Which would make you rather conceited LOL)

I keep thinking on ANTM how someone inevitably ends up acting like a complete jerk to someone then pouts when they don't get picked to accompany a challenge winner...or because they act so bloody selfish and abrasive end up making themselves look bad in the process.
It may not be the purpose of a reality show to "make friends" but that isn't free license to act like a butthead, without any grace or restraint...

7Oh, and to add to the ANTM quote above...the Series 1 winner, Elyse, has some excellent ones also. YouTube has some of her best lines on videos there, and they are pretty funny.
Her journal, btw, can be entertaining and describes some pretty funky (by Western standards anyways) foodstuffs is also worth some giggles.... and I quote:

I love ANTM, but I hate admitting that. I feel like watching it makes me dumber sometimes. LMAO

13I actually enjoyed ANTM sporadically....caught a season, missed 2, sort of thing.
I enjoyed it sort of how one enjoys a double cheeseburger, as a deliciously vapid and colourful display of vanity..not of the contestants but those whom are there to help them, the one exception to this being the designers and the outfits and photos, which I genuinely enjoyed seeing.
But cycle 9 blew it for me, for a lot of reasons, including the overt manipulation of Jenah's emotions in front of her competitors, and forcing the girls to judge each other verbally, along with vague and unnecessary personal "perceptions" of a girl's character (as if these people are experts in psychology, counseling, which is wholly inappropriate). I thought it was tacky and inappropriately-wielded "pseudo-psychology" made for ratings and not the girls' actual benefit. All that aside and I was still left with the ridiculous posturing of some of the panel members including Tyra herself, and the mind-boggling 360 degree turns in the judging which smacked of favouritism and pre-decision instead of genuine observation of the talent (or lack of it) in front of them. Screeching for edgy models in one half a season then overtly awarding the most commercial, bland models at the end of it? (one of which can hardly runway walk?) Ooohkay.
Sadly, I am just cynical about it all. It's just too much b.s. for me, and I stopped watching that day, and won't go back. I have better things to do..but damn, I will miss the fun photo shoots, I enjoyed watching those, and I love fashion, and the creative process behind it.
I guess I will have to content myself with couture show photos instead.
