The building schedule for skyscrapers and a memorial planned for New York City's Ground Zero have been tossed out by the World Trade Center owners, due to unrealistic goals and rising costs.
Planners will announce a new timetable this September, seven years after the Twin Towers fell, according to BBC. Officials previously promised that the Freedom Tower, set to replace the destroyed towers while taking the title of the nation's tallest building, would be complete in 2006, then 2011, and finally in 2013.
Planners promise that the next date will be realistic, rather than emotional. The original Twin Towers took about five years to build. After September 11, 2001, how long did you expect it to take to rebuild Ground Zero? Does the stalling delay the healing process?

1I was never big on a quick rebuild--or a rebuild at all. I definitely think that taking the time to plan and make the best decision possible helps the healing process more than it would if we rushed into a design that didn't work.
2I agree, it took us like, 75 years or something to build the Washington Monument and that was just an obelisk. What's the rush?
3I'm in no hurry, as a matter of fact I think I would prefer they didn't rebuild anything at all. When the hustle and bustle is back... Ground Zero will be nothing more than a plaque beside the door.
4I agree unless they build the twin towers exactly the way they were, I'd rather they not build anything at all.
5You know, Donald Trump suggested we rebuild the towers with one additional floor and symbolically, I appreciated the idea. Somehow, I think about driving into NY and seeing the towers again and being reminded of that horrible event, so although I think it's a good idea in concept, in reality though, I just think it's sort of morbid.
6I'd like to see them build five towers in a like, with the middle being twice as large as the towers next to it, and the outside towers a little shorter still. This grouping would need to be focused due east. To get a mental picture, take your right hand and make a fist. Now, extend the middle finger...
7Doesn't matter how long it takes as long as it provides construction jobs for NYC.
The longer they take, the more up to date the construction will be.
Healing comes from within. Time heals all wounds.
