An undercover child benefactor originally from Pennsylvania, has sparked an international legal battle from the grave. Wilson C. Lucom left a small amount of his fortune to his family, while leaving the rest of his tens of millions of dollars to a foundation he secretly created for the poor children of Panama.
Those who knew Lucom probably never saw this coming. While alive he funded anti-communist causes, and authored political commentaries, which often advocated solving the world's problems by dropping nuclear bombs.
Now, Lucom's widow, who was granted $20,000 a month in the will, wants the last testament of her mysteriously child friendly husband thrown out. The case is currently in front of Panama's Supreme Court, and the legal battle (which includes 20 law firms!), will decide the fate of Panama's largest charitable donation in history. Who do you want to win?

I don't understand, if that was the man's wish and it was his money why are people disputing it? 20,000 dollars a month is pretty good.
1Maybe he had a change of heart, its his wishes! and this greedy widow with her 20 grand a month!!! boggles my mind.
2Does the 20 grand per month cover her current monthly expenses? Is this going to change her lifestyle? I would fight like 7734 if my husbands will left millions to a charity, and as a result was going to change my lifestyle, perceived or not.
3His widow should be ashamed of herself. You can't live a more than comfortable life with $20K a month? Not that his money is going to suddenly end child poverty, but talk about greedy on his wife's part!
4Considering the guy was a multi-millionare, I am pretty sure her house, car, etc. is paid off.
You would fight like hell if you knew your husbands last dying wish was to help people in need? I would feel pretty proud.
5That child's smile is so precious and genuine. Love it.
6I hope the charity wins though they'll likely spend most of the money on lawyers.
7I think there are a few states where you could not do this, you know, community property.
8I hope there is a good honest person running this charity.
9The marriage must have been pretty shaky if this was a surprise to her.
What a greedy, entitled b!tch.
10What a horrible woman!
11i wonder what people in panama think when they hear about this. she has a chance to be part of the largest donation EVER to the country and she's doing this? ugh. i agree with gitsie, i'd be proud.
12I'm not surprised. Family memebers fight each other over wills. Fighting a charity is not to big of a leap.
13If this man cared so much about the poor children, why didn't he give it away before he died. The kids were suffering last month, too.
14Someone call the Dr. Mrs. Lucom has been corrupted by the greenbacks.
Honestly if this poor excuse for a loving widow can not be satisfied with $240,000 a year than she's gluttonous beyond my wildest dreams.
15This is also kind of one of the big issues in the gay "marriage" debate. "Marriage" gives you certain abilities to try and break other forms of legal protection, like wills. Like Anna Nicole, who was able to try and break her husband's will that he left her out of, simply because they were "married".
IMO, if a person is of able mind to agree to a will when they sign it, I don't think that spouses should have the ability to go break that will.
16I am posting a lot but I could understand if she had children to support and put through college but she is in her eighties and her children are grownups!
17Not much of a marriage.
18Okay...
What a greedy b*tch.
19How is $20,000 a month not enough?????? I am sure there are people in this world that survive on less than that a year.
20He left the money to an organization he founded and it's a good cause..how can anyone debate that?
Wow, the Mrs. does not come off looking very good. I would think $240,000 a year is plenty sufficient. I definitely agree with Jillness: if someone is of sound mind when they sign their will, no greedy family members should be able to break it.
21Oh, and just because we spend our lives with someone (or we are close to our families) does not mean we "owe" them something when we die.
22This lady basically has a house(or 10), a car(or 10), jewelry, clothes and whatever else a millionaire's wife accumulates over the years, and she needs to take money out of the pockets of impoverished children?
23I can't believe this either! What a greedy b****!
Whatever his will says, should definately be carried out. What a waste of money to go through this. She should be ashamed of herself!
24I still disagree. Does she have to pay for the staff to help her clean their house (remember, she isn't a spring chicken, and probably can't do a lot of it herself)? If the $20,000/month takes care of her expenses, and allows her to live life to the level she has since they were married, then I agree it's enough. If she is going to have to make drastic changes in her lifestyle, then I think she should fight this. It's bad enough to lose your spouse, but to also loose your way of life as well would be almost unbearable.
25I think it shouldn't matter what her issues were. They might be sad or not, but his will should be honered. My first thoughts are that whatever someone wants according to their will should be upheld.
What makes a difference is any money he had, was it contributed by her. Or I guess if she were a housewife in this case, she took care of the house, children, other personal responsibilities etc. As far as that's concerned, I guess it makes things sketchy.
Nonetheless, I think she's probably a heartless greedy bleep.
26GTR!
27That's cool. I can take it, especially from someoneon the right team
28http://www.lucomchildren.com -- everyone can read the actual 500 page legal exhibit that was given to the jury in this case -- it also includes a copy of the actual Will. It sounds to me like the old x-wife's kids are the ones really pushing for the 50million for themselves. The x-wife is not well - I think it is her greedy children trying to get the $$. We should all pray that good prevails over evil in this case. And that American expats living in Panama -- keep up to date with this story.
29I agree, that child's smile IS precious.
With those kind words said, his wife is an effing greedy b!tch! Yes, perhaps 20k a month is not enough for her to maintain her standard of living, but so what? Grow the eff up and learn to deal with it. Many, many, many women the world over have to deal with their standard of living dropping after the death of a spouse.
Hmmm it's either her maintaining her standard of living or helping the children who are just barely living. Oh, I think the kids win out here.
And it just infuriates me when people try to dispute the will of the deceased. They obviously wanted it that way and there's no rule that your family has to get most or everything. In fact, there's no rule saying they have to get a single penny. Like with Leona Helmsley for example. She clearly didn't want her grandchildren to get her money because they were just greedy and didn't give a damn about her when she was still alive, so she gave the money to the one soul that was always there for her: her dog. Her greedy grandchildren petitioned for more money and unfortunately they got it. Anna Nicole's oil tycoon hubby didn't want her to get anything because he knew that the only reason a young, beautiful woman like herself would be sleeping with him was for his money. This man cared enough for his wife to leave her a decent amount of money, too bad he married a greedy, gold-digging, selfish, heartless woman.
