Florida's GOP is really reaching to tie Elian to Obama:
“Elian Gonzalez cost Al Gore Florida and the presidency,” she added."
If that were true, there wouldn't have been recounts and the Supreme Court's involvement.
Redstate is entertaining - claiming the GOP values every human life, then extols it as the party leading the "war against the forces of Islamism".
1I thought it was a war on terror, and not directed against one religion, or was McCain lying when he said "I admire Islam" and Bush too, when he said "Ours is a war not against a religion, not against the Muslim faith."
Please, that whole Elian thing was blown completely out of proportion. It grates on my last nerves really...like Cubans are the only ones that need political asylum...please! They get a ton of preferential treatment already...
2Stephley, as we all know, Red State does not speak for McCain, Bush, or the GOP. That would be like saying Huff Po speaks for Obama and the DNC.
3The must be completely desperate if they are trying to tie him to things he clearly had nothing to do with.
4I think if people read the article, you realize that it is not the GOP trying to tie Obama in to the Elian Gonzalez incident. Cuban-Americans are making the connection. (Which, by the way, I think is ridiculous.)
One Republican consultant does not represent the Florida GOP.
5Good point Lilkimbo. This story is ridiculous! I hope its just one of those "story of the hour" blips on the campaign trail that doesn't have legs.
6Fair enough Lilkimbo, I'll accept both.
7Off topic: We should note that while we get stories linked to HuffPo here, they almost always are stories from yet another, third, source - I can't remember a time when Liberty or Citizen has linked to an article by Arianna or one of her bloggers - meaning they aren't HuffPo sourced.
I see what you're saying, Steph. I didn't mean to complain about Huff Po linkage on Citizen or anything, I just used that because it was the source that came to mind right away.
8I know, I've just been thinking about that for a long time and it finally came to me when I had my fingers on the keyboard.
9Reading some of the redstate article reminds me about why I'm going to have a hard time making a decision this fall...
Reading the Elian Gonzalez article reminds me that I want to bang my head against a wall...
Wait this is sort of rhyming.

um...wtf?
12I initially said that the GOP was a group of money hungry tools that would do anything for a vote.
Then for some reason my post came up as blank.
Its a conspiracy, I swear.
13Lady, that happened to me yesterday! Mysterious blank post!
14Course mine wasn't along those topic lines....
15And lady do you realize how wide a generalization you just made?
16The DNC is a bunch of power hungry, self-indulged hypocrites who will do anything for money.
17I agree with both statements regarding the GOP and DNC - those b*stards.
18What I don't get is why Obama has so many Clinton hangers-on working for him. Can he not find quality people in the Democratic Party that have not worked for the Clintons? How is stacking your staff with Clinton people "change"?
19That's a very interesting question piper. I think it's a good idea to hire people who know how to run a winning campaign, but can you hire the old guard while claiming to be about change?
20I think it's a logical fallacy to say you can't run a campaign about change and hire experienced people as well.
I mean, there are a finite number of people who have risen to the top because they excel at what they do. Obama doesn't have to throw out the whole organization in order to start fresh.
In any case, most of these people respond to what comes from the top so if what comes from the top is different then hopefully it will be executed accordingly.
21I would also like to note that my avatar is hungry, self-indulgent, and will do anything for food.
22In reference to my comment:
I went into detail in my now blank post stating that the front runner politicians of the GOP are the money hungry blah blahs...I can't speak on behalf of those behind the scenes just doing their jobs...lol.
