Today most counties in California, the nation's most populous state, will begin their first full day of issuing marriage licenses to committed couples, regardless their gender combination. San Francisco kicked things off last night at 5:00 p.m., with Mayor Gavin Newsom marrying Phyllis Lyon, 87 and Del Martin, 84, who have been in love for over 50 years.

Um, why is the answer for number 5 not even listed under number 5?
1Oops, sorry ladychaos. It should be all fixed up now. Thanks for the heads up, bonus extra-credit!
21 out of 5 questions ..hahahaha..
3I was so tickled to see Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon in the paper again today. They have been together 55 years, they are adorable, and they are fellow Berkeley alumnae. I wish I could add them to the list of celebrities I like.
4Surprised I got 4/5!
5I only got 3/5. Congrats to them
63/5 ... Congrats to the new married couples
7Darn I missed the Russia 1993.

9I am glad I took that Global Homosexual Studies course.
10Well rac if you're ready for your one on one studies just let me know, LOL!
I was out side S.F. City Hall yesterday evening and it was truly a magical experience to witness history and not just feel sympathy but a deep empathy. The 18 couples being married at Oakland city hall by Mayor Ron Dellums got off to a late start so I was able to be outside the hall for those as well. It was a very gay (happy) day in California.
114/5! Yea! I'm so stoked for this! I know in the palm springs area, tons of people are getting ordained to be able to perform the ceremonies! I'm so happy for everyone.
12Hypno-- I think you'd like the song "City Hall" by Vienna Teng (I have no idea if HTML works-- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsQ6vy9PB08). It's a beautiful song about February 2005, when Mayor Gavin Newsom declared he would perform gay marriage ceremonies in San Francisco.
13Apparently I don't know much
14Hypno that's wonderful.
15There's a nice little story about peoples' resistance to equal right in marriage over at

Check it out and Congratulations! to all those couples who've waited so long for this moment. Live long, live happy.
16Yay! I'm so happy for all the gay couples who can finally marry!
17Great quiz!
