I'm at a loss this morning, in the span of time usually devoted to coffee and Tim Russert on Meet the Press, his absence is deafening. This morning, in lieu of the regular show, they're running a tribute to Russert. The long-running show began in 1947, and Russert has helmed the ship since I can remember.

I've been reading some of the poignant tributes to Russert this morning, and pouring through pictures and trivia about Meet the Press — here are some of my favorites.
Every president since John F. Kennedy has appeared on the show during their career. The answers to these next two facts are pictured above: Who is the most frequent guest? And who had the longest span of time between first appearance and most recent appearance?
To find out, read more.
Bob Dole has been the most frequent guest, with 63 appearances to date.
Ted Kennedy has clocked almost 45 years between his first appearance and most recent one.
When the Chicago Tribune says NBC lost more than a newsman, they're right. "If it's Sunday, it's Meet the Press," will never be the same.

I'm watching the tribute... so sad.
1That tribute was much deserved and very telling of the life Tim Russert lived in front of the camera and behind the scenes. Meet the Press will not be the same without him and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. Very sad time in the journalism profession right now...
2A beautiful tribute to Tim this morning. It was hard not to get a catch in your throat when Tom Brokaw's voice wavered towards the end and I was in tears by the time Thunder Road began. There's a picture on the AP wire of Luke, Tim's son, touching the empty moderator chair. It is absolutely heartbreaking. A great loss for the American community which is only multiplied for the people who knew him and loved him most.
May the road rise up to meet you,
3May the wind be ever at your back
May the sun shine warm upon your face
And the rain fall softly on your fields
And until we meet again, May God hold
you in the hollow of his hand
We were traveling yesterday morning so I didn't get to see the emotional Meet The Press. Matt Lauer interviewed Luke this morning and I cried through the whole thing.
4Godspeed, Tim Russert. Obviously he hit a cord with the American people because many of us who only knew him through TV feel like we lost a friend.
It's going to take more than one person to fill Mr. Russert's shoes.
5He felt like a friend I met up with every Sunday morning to discuss the week in politics. He will be missed.
6He will be sadly missed.
