I feel like the media has been insanely bias towards McCain.

That must mean that the media is almost treating the two equally.

the truth is they are biased -- they all like obama best and want him to win, but they are afraid to talk smack about mccain because he's literally as old as god and might shoot fireballs from his nostrils or something. or am i way off base here?

I think UnDave may be on to something. I primarily watch CNN and not a day goes by where I don't hear about Rev. Wright yet I don't exactly hear glowing things about McCain. McCafferty for example right now is exposing McCain on the economy. Lou Dobbs doesn't have anything kind to say about either.

I don't get MSNBC and Fow News tends to make me suicidal so I can't speak for them, but I don't understand why people think the media is biased towards Obama. Just the other day I saw an unfavorable special report on his elections in Illinois. Ever since last year, I've been hearing many negative news bites on all the canidates.

What I find amaing is that so many people feel the media treated just Hillary Clinton unfairly. Did anyone else have a television show created to prepare the US for a woman president (commander in chief)?

Well let's not forget either that news these days is packaged for rattings so whatever they think we'll gobble up one sided or not they're going to keep serving it up.

kastarte - It lasted a little more than a season, despite having exceptionally poor ratings. One of my friends said this show was merely a long term commercial for Hillary. Personally, I am a huge Gina Davis fan, and watched the first three episodes. After that, I couldn't swallow the BS any longer.

If Obama had lobbiests on his team that had been employed by Chinese companies to broker agreements with Iran, I think that Obama would be treated MUCH differently.

You don't hear tons of positive things about McCain, but the lack of scrutiny of him is sooooo apparent.

He hasn't been scrutinied yet, because it would do no good. They didn't have anyone to compare him to. Now that Obama is the presumptive DNC nominee, I see the heat being turned up on McCain.

I hope the heat turns up on McCain. The heat was turned up on Obama long before he even had the nomination, when he was only one of 2 candidates. McCain has had the nomination for months now, and no digging has been done.

Obama had the heat turned up because he was in a battle for the nomination. The republican candidates fell in line behind McCain so quickly no one had the chance to turn up the heat. IMO, the next month will see an all out blitz on McCain and Obama will get a bit of a pass (unless he makes a huge blunder).

McCain's handlers are gonna be all over him, and yet I think the mistakes will keep on coming.

What about that Google article? I think Google is amazing. But it has had a huge impact on the way students do research. The article points out that many do not read a full article or book, but rather "skip around" from source to source.

The media IS backing Obama.

Which makes sense since more than 5 times more reporters and broadcasters describe them self as liberal than conservative.

In love with Obama? Maybe, but only if you don't count relatively early stories about his past drug use (New York Times), reports about false rumors of his "secret" Muslim upbringing (Washington Post) and unflattering stories about his association with a shadowy Chicago fundraiser named Tony Rezko (Chicago Tribune). It also fails to recognize the effect of timing on campaign coverage. As Newsweek's Evan Thomas wrote in early March, "Right now, Obama and John McCain are popular with reporters. But if the usual laws of press physics apply, the media will turn on both men before Election Day."

I think that most people just know the titles given to McCain, "Maverick" and "moderate", and that is about it. For example, a recent survey showed that 50% of females that support McCain though (mistakenly) that he was pro-choice.

Many of the people in his staff have very questionable backgrounds. He has people that started groups to encourage war with Iraq back in 2002 on his foreign policy staff (Committee for the Liberation of Iraq), lobbiests and staffers that worked for Saudi Arabia, China, and Iran, etc. (Which contradicts McCain's proposal for divestment from Iran). In fact, Charlie Black, McCain's chief strategist, was paid $60,000 to lobby the US government on behalf of the Chinese oil conglomerate CNOOC. That same company has a $16 BILLION dollar deal with Iranian government.

Black's firm also represented a man named Ahmad Chalabi, who was an Iraqi dissident and pushed for the invasion of Iraq with key Pentagon and Administration officials before the war began. Since then he has supposedly passed on US information about Iraq to Iran. Obama's distant acquaintances have been gone over with a fine toothed comb. McCain's STAFF hasn't been given as much disection, much less his policy ideas.

And I am sorry, but if you think that a magazine cover alone indicates support you are wrong. Not all news stories about him are positive. Fox News is clearly biased against Obama in a way that very heavy handed and very obvious. I once saw them entertain a guest who was a preacher, saying that Obama "wasn't pure" because his "jezzabelle" mother violated his "pure" father. Does that sound like bias in Obama's favor???

Obama has given LOADS of details in his speeches over the past 6 months about his policy ideas...but for some reason that media that supposedly bias in his favor fails to mention it. The media is bias for drama, not for factual information about EITHER candidate.

He is for abortion in cases of rape, incest, or chances of harm for the mother.

I am happen to like this about him. I consider myself a feminist, but Susan B Anthony feminist. The first woman's movement was against abortion, because they were for equal rights of all people.

I've said elsewhere that I'm pro-choice but not pro-abortion. I wonder how many people realize that Norma McCorvey lied to get that abortion in 1973. And that she sued in 2003 to have the decision overturned.

I knew Norma McCorvey's history and it doesn't change my pro-choice view - that's a bit like suggesting your support of civil rights rests on your belief in Rosa Parks.

Stephley, I already said I'm pro-choice. I don't believe, however, in oversimplifying decisions. And I *do* believe in being fully informed. If Rosa Parks had decided later in life that her youthful actions and tactics were inappropriate and ill-advised, that would be worth knowing. It would not necessarily change my mind about the social changes that resulted.

Everyone forgets sometimes. I swear I put something somewhere in the house. I get so frustrated and I find it later on when I return home. And then I think, did I look there - as grandpa always said "If it was a snake it would have bit me"

Bella - There are many days that I feel if I wasn't already at home, I'd never find where I live...
