After the Sex and the City screening last week, several Sugar girls admitted that the movie made them cry. The consensus seemed to be that even those of us who never cried much when we were younger now get choked up very easily by TV shows, weddings, songs — you name it.

I think that many women cry more often as we get older. Maybe it's hormonal, but it seems to happen to women in their late 20s and on. I'm wondering if this is common: Have you noticed that you cry more during movies, TV shows, and weddings as you get older?

I cry over everything, whether I'm happy, sad, mad. I always have though. Guess I'm just an emotional person
1I cried twice when I saw Les Miserables when I was way up in the second balcony...and it was my third time seeing it! I never cried the first two times as a kid, so yeah, definitely started crying more.
2I never cried when I was younger. I could read a whole Chicken Soup book without even a sniffle. Now, I cry during commercials. I was sniffling during SatC even when nothing sad or heart wrenching was happening! Hell, I cried when Charlotte started running again! Ugh... it's pathetic.
3I have always been a crier, its pretty embarrassing at times lol
4I used to not cry about anything. My friends and family always said I was "devoid of emotion" (not polite, I know) but now it seems the smallest thing can make me cry. Whether it is a story, a movie or a TV show. Brothers & Sisters gets me every time and I am guaranteed to cry at least twice during an episode. I even teared last night watching The Bachelorette, what is wrong with me?!
5I never used to cry. I think I started crying more after I had my first daughter. Now it's ridiculous sometimes. I can hold it back, usually, but I think it's kind of annoying.
6I NEVER used to cry during movies.
I could easily seperate movies from reality, but I find myself getting more emotionally into movies.
I saw PS I love you, and had to have kleenex by my side the whole movie!!!
7Nope, actually the opposite.
8I'm only 25 but i've started tearing up lately. There is this stupid ad on tv for diapers and its just babies and toddlers hugging (for huggies hehe)their mums and stuff but it makes me tear up every time i see it.
9Yes, I know I do. I think it's because we can understand and have more emotional connections with different situations. I know whenever I see a perfect mother daughter or father daughter moment I get teary eyed lol.
10i remember precisely the first time i cried at a movie (the new version of lassie in the 90s)...since then (around age 14ish) i've been a huge crier
i cannot watch a proposal or marriage (on tv or whatever) without bawling
11and i cried during the SATC movie like 4 times!
Yes!! I used to be nice and cold, lol!! Now I am a sap.
12As soon as I started birth control (when I was 24) it was like a switch flipped...before, I never cried (seriously, like once or twice a year)...now, it's pretty much daily! Luckily, my hubby's a sap, so we can just sit and cry over Extreme Makeover: Home Edition together every Sunday...
13I cry at movies, sure. I cry at movie trailers!!! The trailer for Ladder 49 a few years back got me crying every single time!
14no actually I cry less as I get older. As a teen I never cried at all...then I went through a patch in my early 20's where i did cry over stupid things...and now that I'm 26...nothing...I don't remember last time I cried over anything "sappy"..ie, movies or commercials and such. I did get the lump in my throat at the end of "Atonement" tho...didn't shed the tear, but had to swallow really hard to get rid of the lump! *lol*
So no, no tears for me!
I am happy that way...some of my friends are just way too much...crying over things I can't possibily understand
15ROTFL!!! I never used to cry...but now I feel like a fountain at times.
16I never cry while watching movies. I easily can separate that from reality. I didnt even cry watching The Notebook. Sure Ill feel sad or sympathetic but no actual tears.
17I've never been a crier but I do get more teary-eyed the older I get (and just not about getting older either! haha).
18I cry more now that I'm older, but I certainly remember crying when I saw My Girl for the first time in the theatre. That movie STILL gets me...oh, and Steel Magnolias.
19OMG thank you for making me feel better. I cried at SATC like 50 times!
20I do cry A LOT with TV & movies. Well I cry over a lot... Not like sobbing, breathless cry, but my eyes get watery pretty much at least once a day... silly
I'm still young, but I've realised that I do cry easily these days.
21ive always been a crier
22I am a crier!
23My poor bf thinks I am a retard for crying in like every movie we watch!
I'm a big baby. I cry all the time and I always have. Sometimes you just need a good cry!
24I cry much less often than when I was younger.
25I'm kind of like a dude. When I start crying I'm always like "Come on, GET IT TOGETHER!"
26I'm like brittanyk - I'm a crier -any emotion, happy, sad, angry, scared, etc. and I've always been this way.
27darkangel2305, my friend & I did the same thing! Cried over & over & over during Sex & The City this past weekend!
Esp. the scene on the Brooklyn Bridge. *le sigh*
28I've always been a huge movie-crier. Thought I was gonna die of dehydration after Memoirs of a Geisha, LOL just yesterday I watched Phantom of the Opera for like the 3rd time, and lots of crying. I think I cried during The Hulk! As for upset-crying - when something truly bad happens, I don't cry as much as I used to, like one year or so ago. I'm so much stronger now.
29I've never been a "crier"...I'm sensitive, but I also like to keep myself in control. I cry when I'm really upset and when I watch sad movies, but then again, who doesn't??
30When I was younger, I never really cried at movies, I do remember one (Casper, hey! I was 9- I think) where I got choked up. Although now, I only cry when I let myself cry. I particularly don't want to do it at public places, when in my room and with a book, I'd sob my heart out.
31I still cry at Casper. I cry at movies I've seen dozens of times, even though I know what's coming.
32I'm still in my early 20s so I don't know about that yet. I am not quite a crier but I don't hold it in either.
33I think stefprl has a good point, maybe it has to do with birth control. I used to cry when I was little, like when Bambi died and things like that. Then as I got older and wiser I didn't cry as often, only when a relative died. Now I start to tear for anyhing, a sad commerical, a sad or heartwarming story, a really lame movie that has a cheesy deep moment. So I don't actually cry, I just start to tear up. i'm such a sucker these days.
34I very rarely cry during TV shows or movies, but I will admit: I CAN NOT get through a whole episode of "A Wedding Story" without crying. Don't ask me why! I just can't! I'm a sap haha.
35I hate crying, but it's hard for me to control the waterworks. I used to be a whiny baby as a kid, so I cried a lot when my parents yelled at me or things didn't go my way.
Now, I try to keep my emotions intact, and I've become more cynical. So, I cry less, but I still cry often enough for my boyfriend to claim I do it every time he sees me.
36i used to cry when i was younger. even when i want to cry, i can't seem to these days.
