The writers of children's programming place a high priority on making their shows entertaining for adults and children alike — but this is something else. Rainbow, a '70s UK kiddie show, upped the ante on adult entertainment value. The following clip from the "Twangers" episode was a staff joke that was jam packed with innuendo. Hey, what they don't know, won't pervert them — right? Wrong. This episode never aired for the general public. (Thanks for the update, meerkat!)

1actually, I think this clip was never aired on public television, but rather made as a prank for some of the people working on the show.
2haha that was hilarious, but I can't believe that would actually have been a children's show, I agree with sjtoliver it had to have been a prank or something.
3
whoa. chock full of innuendo.
4I remember this clip! I saw it a couple of years ago. And like someone else mentioned, I'm pretty sure this didn't actually air. The innuendo is too obvious and noticeable for that to be possible.
5According to the always awesome Wikipedia:
"In 1979, the cast and crew of Rainbow made a special exclusive sketch for the Thames TV staff Christmas tape, sometimes referred to as the "Twangers" episode. This show featured plenty of deliberate sexual innuendo (beginning with Zippy peeling a banana, saying "One skin, two skin, three skin, four..." before being interrupted), and never shown at the time (as it was never intended to be screened to the general public.)"
6So funny. Seriously.
7Wow. The ending. "Don't forget to play with your balls!" Wow.
8Hahahaha. Wow.
9I remember this show! I loved it
