Long-distance relationships are tough, but so are long-distance friendships! If you're lucky enough to have your best friend living in the same town, you probably get to see her pretty regularly. But it can be tough — and potentially expensive — when BFFs live halfway across the country or world. What's your situation?

My BFF's all live within 10-25 minutes of me. So, we definately see each other at least 2-3 times a week.
1It's so sad!!! We live 4 states away from each other! I miss my best friend so much! We plan on living together when we're older...hopefully it will happen!
2My best friend lives in Philly while I live in NYC. It gives me a great excuse to go back to PA where we both went to college together.
3My best friend and I live together right now! It is going to be so sad when I move out after getting married this fall!
4My best friend and I went to high school together, then I went to UCLA and she went to Berkeley. Now I'm at home (in the Bay) and she just graduated so this past year we got to see each other. However, this August, I'm moving to Boston so we'll be 3,000 miles away from each other!
5Mine lives an hour and a half away and we're both super busy... so we see one another about 4 times a year.
6She lives across the pond in England! So sad, but such a good excuse to visit London (when I can afford the place ticket).
7mine lives across the country, but her parents still live close to me (when they're not at their house in europe), so she comes home fairly often (probably 4 times a year)
all my closest friends are in different cities, but she's the furthest
8my husband is my best friend
9If you live in the Bay Area, you know you have to commute everywhere to actually get where you need to go - even if to see your friends. I live in a suburb of San Jose, but all of my friends live in the actual city of San Jose (which is widespread and has almost a million residents) or they live on the opposite side of the city so its usually a 15-25 minute commute to see all of my friends except for a couple of them. Usually we hang out 2-3 times a week at the most, which doesn't seem like a lot to me.
10^^ edited to add: Its 2-3 times a week during the SUMMER, because the majority of my friends are away at college during the school year and are anywhere between a 2 hour drive away to a 6 hour plane ride to see them.
11I have a few besties scattered around the U.S. I wish I had a best friend that lived like, 2 blocks away though. I miss the convenience of college.
12All my best friends live in Chicago and Hawaii while I live in California.
13My BF lives in Maine and I live in Philly. I try to get together with her as often as possible -- we average about 4-5 times a year, which is sad!!
14we're 30 minutes drive apart so we see eachother most weekends, but i miss living with her.
15Mine lives a plane ride away - Thankfully we have cellphones and facebook!
16They don't live in the same town as I do but we're only a car ride away and I'm so happy about that!
17my best friend lives about 20 mins away but she has two kids and a husband who works overnights and i work m-f 8:30-5 so our schedules completly conflict so even tho she's so close i sometimes don't see her for weeks.
then my other best friend lives in philly and im in VA so its a 5 hour drive. sometimes we run into each other when im back in philly and sometimes we dont.
but with both friends we text/email/myspace comment all the time so
18She lives a mile away from me, and I'm so grateful!
19i've got 2 besties that live out of state. it sucks, but the old cliche "absence makes the heart grow fonder" totally rings true. we appreciate our friendships much more now that we are so far away. and when we are able to get together, we totally go all out and have the greatest time.
20My best friend is my boyfriend, and he lives half a mile away in the dorms on-campus. We still only see each other twice a week, though.
21We're both in college... I'm in Cambridge, Massachusetts and she's in Pennsylvania
22We live several blocks away from each other, but since we don't go to the same school anymore, we barely see each other anymore. =/
23I have a few best friends and they are all within an hour's drive to me. One of them lives five minutes from me, though. Love that!
24Technically, my best friend is my boyfriend, but my best girlfriend lives in the same town I do and we go to university together.
25My best friend is actually a guy I met in high school! We were separated when he went out of state for college and I stayed close to home, but we've done everything we can to remain close. We see each other every time he comes home and every time I travel to his area (I'm lucky enough that my husband's favorite baseball team is based in the same city, so we go there several weekends out of the year!)
And there's always phone and email. We've made it work for the past 10 years.
My very best girlfriend lives just a few streets away from me, so I'm lucky in that aspect too.
26They all live in town, thank goodness. I used to have a BFF that moved away, but one summer I went to visit her for like 10 days and I had some issues with her mom, cause she was being a royal bxtch, and after I came home she never spoke to me again. 'Tever.
27I'm married to my best friend.
28my best friend lives across the country, but i'm moving in a month to live closer to her! i can't wait! i need to see my best friend!
29my bests are all over. one is currently in the mid-east and thinking about going to japan to live for a while. the closest good friend i have lives about 8 hours away. my sister lives 13 hours away and she is my best friend. other good friends live 12-14 hours away as well. i feel alone now. boo.
30Going away to college changed a lot of things for me. One of my closest friends I've made this year lives in Las Vegas and I'm a Long Island girl so there's a pretty big distance. We talk on AIM all the time and we're always on each others' myspaces and Facebooks. Our extended group of friends are going to take a trip to Vegas sometime next year and party it up!
My other really close friend from college lives in Westchester so she isn't that far away. We still call each other and again with the Facebooks. We're going to live in an apartment together next year so we're very close.
When I was much younger though, my best friends did live nearby. But things change the older you get... My friends and I really keep in contact well, we just all love and miss each other
The only thing we miss about being in school is not seeing each other everyday!
31My bff lives allllll the way in florida, and I'm in ct!!! She and her mom moved after we graduated high school, and we get to see each other like twice a year, which sucks!!! I'm trying to convince her to come back home!
32My best friend and I live about 1 minute away from each other. We've known each other since we were 8 years old (we're 20 now)!
33Plane ride away.
34my BFF lives like 5 min from my home so that's good we see each other almost every day and hang out all the weekends or have sleep over, I'm so lucky, but some good friends are in other states and other countries to so yeah i do have long distance relationship with some of them and is hard to keep in each other life's
35boooo..my bf lives in taiwan...i am living in pittsburg
36other than my boyfriend, my other best friend lives in Sacramento, about 5 hours away. so while I see her aat Christmas somethimes or maybe during the summer, we really don't get to see each other as often as we would like, which is so sad because we have known each other since the first grade and went to school together until high school...
37I live in the SF Bay Area and my two best friends are hours away; one in Chicago (cousin) and one near Los Angeles (boyfriend, finishing school).
I liked it better when in elementary school my best friends lived down the block.
It'll be great when my boyfriend graduates later this year and we can go back to living together, which was how we were before. And my cousin wants to move out here eventually, so that'll hopefully be settled, haha.
38we all live around 10-20minutes away depending on whose place you want to go to.... but since we're all in uni right now our free time always seems to clash and assessments/exams take time away too so we see each other probably once a week but we gmail alot
39mine lives in Washington state, and I'm in Ohio. i've seen her 1 time in the past year.
i miss
her!!
40Other, when I'm home she's a half hour walk from me. But when we are at Uni it's about a 4+ hour train journey.
41We live in the same state, but since it's Nevada, we're nine hours apart. I miss her, we try to talk on the phone and email each other but I wish she lived closer.
42First I lived in London, so I was the one who had moved far away from my best friends, but when I returned to San Francisco, 2 of my very best friends moved from SF to Seattle! It also just so happens that my best friend from Uni in London is also from Seattle! If I moved up there I'd have 3 of my besties all in one city, but I just can't bring myself to leave my hometown and family after being away for 4 years. . .
43My best friends are all far from me. I live in Texas, one lives in Los Angeles and one in Portland.
My best friend of over 13 years is in the Peace Corps in Zambia (yes, Africa) for another 10 months. It's been horrible without her being just a phone call away!
44My best friend is my boyfriend, but my other two closest friends are my cousin, who studies in Bremen, Germany now and a guy who was my "classmate" for 11 years (secondary and high school and college). He studies in London now. I study in Zürich, Switzerland. We keep in touch over Jabber and meet occasionally in our home city.
45I'm married to my best friend so he's never far away.
46Yes, a 20 mins. subway ride.
47I live in Florida and my best friend got married and moved to Toronto, Canada! We've been best friends for about 7 years but now only get to see each other maybe once a year due to work and expensive airfare!
