Wait a minute, how can the media have a liberal bias if the bosses were killing stories critical of the White House? Wouldn't that be a conservative or pro-war bias?

Just how evil are we going to get in this race:
Instead of merely asking for clarification, the RNC smeared Obama's "dubious claim," and suggested -- tongue in cheek -- that perhaps Obama's uncle "was serving in the Red Army."

Anyone with a 7th grade education knew we were being lied to about the war, so maybe the media can do something, like, oh, I don't know, maybe report what's happening now?

    "report what's happening now?"

I hope they start...but I am not holding my breath.

I don't know what to believe anymore. I mean, I am totally, sadly, disillusioned with what I hear from the news, press secretaries, politicians, etc. I have my convictions, which won't change. But it's really hard to form a reliable opinion of someone with the information I'm given.

I just saw a one on one interview on ABC news with McClellan. The reporter was so visibly scornful of him. (I wish I could remember her name this second). I can understand how she would feel sort of a betrayal, being a reporter. She wanted to know basically how can you act one way when doing your job, and now say another? I too, was interested in that notion, and what the man had to say to defend himself. She asked what a reporter in the first row of the white house can believe when they hear it. Good question. But for all of the talking over him and grilling she did toward the end, he could barely get a sentence out! she had totally decided what she thought of him before the answers even came out of his mouth. I was so annoyed! Let the man talk! There was no trace of objectivity at all in her interview. She was raising her voice, talking over him, scoffing, waving her hands around. I hate that! Ask questions, and let the person your are interviewing actually answer! UGH!

    Was it Martha Radditz (sp)?
I can see that he started out a true-believer then started to become disillusioned but wasn't sure of himself - at least for a while. I think he should have spoken up sooner but I'm known for tossing my life into the air and hoping things turn out okay. Washington has become a real Alice in Wonderland world. Press secretaries are going to be hammered from now on, and people are going to think the press is so mean.

That is disappointing, Kris! I feel the same way about the press and information as you do. It can really drag on you when you feel like there is no source that you can turn to for an unbiased opinion.

There are still a good many media outlets that provide excellent news reporting. Amy Goodman with "Democracy Now", The Nation, anyone in Europe is reporting things that no American news outlet will even touch. The information is out there, you just have to be willing to go to non-corporate sources.

Wait, why isn't there a Noam Chomsky icon? What the hell?

About the Iraq war: the TV execs are at fault, McClellan is at fault.
Bush will get off with no blame. He will resurrect the "twinkie defense", meaning he has the brains of a twinkie.

"anyone in Europe is reporting things that no American news outlet will even touch."

I do like the BBC, but they tend to focus on international news, which is great. But sometimes I want the scoop on specifically US issues (domestic policy, clarification on candidate spats, US government). They don't address these things as much as I would like.

I like Amy Goodman but I must admit, sometimes Democracy Now gets too depressing. (there are days I wish the other side would share its Kool Aid so I just wouldn't give a rat's behind about things).

it was Martha Radditz, stephley. i didn't like her interview style at all. I understand why she had to ask some pointed questions, but geez. How about you ask him a question and then actually let him answer it. you know? so I can hear him and understand what he is saying? who is more important here, Martha Radditz or McClellan? All the while I have to give Rosy Cheeks some credit. He responded pretty well considering that she was all over him!

I was extra po'd because it was the first interview I had seen of him. It came on and I was really eager to hear about it, anything from him at all. And that's what I got! blah.

I have mixed feelings about her, she comes with heavy attitude. It's counter-productive to let anger at McClellan's delay get in the way of hearing him out.
On Huff Post, they have clips of McClellan on Olbermann - I guess he got the whole hour.

That's so funny you say that Stephley (above), I can't actually listen to Democracy Now for more than 15 minutes at a time before I get stomach aches. Still, I am glad someone's reporting what's going on out there.

    :noamchomsky:

Still no Noam Chomsky icon? See? He is always being marginalized in the media. So sad.
