Even if you didn't watch Sex and the City religiously, I'm sure you could imagine how the show affected the way women think and act when it comes to dating, friendship, age, and living the single life in style. Through their examples, women learned that some friendships are limitless and romantic relationships are never perfect. We supported all the girls through good times and bad, even when we didn't necessarily agree with the choices they made — Carrie cheating on Aidan to name just one. So with that said, let me ask you this: Do you think SATC made it more acceptable for women to cheat in their romantic relationships?

that doesn't make any sense. She cheated and it ruined their relationship
1Ya I know. I'm confused. I don't think it's acceptable at all.
2Hmmm, well I continue to find it unacceptable.
3Dumb question. obviously she was not satisfied with something. i do not think cheating is acceptable at all. we are grown folks, lets act like it.
4Hmm, OK. Apparently I wasn't suppose to answer with my personal opinion.
5LOL! Uh, huh?
It is never "acceptable", yeah it happens, but its not like its a cool thing to do!
I cheated in my relationships before Carrie did in that season, and I could definitely appreciate and relate to what she was going through with the whole Aiden/Big thing and I had an appreciation for how they added that in the story line...
...but no matter how you look at it, it is excruciatingly painful for everyone involved, cheater, cheatee, cheated, whatever.
6How sad.
7i didn't even take the quiz, cuz i find the question weird
i FOR SURE think that SATC impacted the way women deal with sexuality, relationships, and the like, including both the way they behave and the way they discuss issues with their girlfriends
i think it had a HUGE IMPACT not only on me but on society and many generations of women, ranging from the age of my little sister in highschool to my aunt who's nearly 50
HOWEVER i don't think it made it "acceptable" to cheat....i do think it did things like make it acceptable to say no to anal sex because you don't want to be the "up the butt girl," coined the use of the term "funky spunk," made it socially acceptable for a single professional girl to have a one night stand, and made the Rabbit a household name
8I don't think its ok for anyone to cheat no matter what.
I don't think many people would watch the show and then go out and cheat because they thought it was ok all of a sudden. When they say "made it more acceptable for women to be unfaithful" I think they mean IN SOCIETY. As in, it is now an open topic to be discussed in society, when before it was unacceptable to even think about a women doing something like that. Its like women always did the same things as men, like cheating for example, but no one ever acknowledged women before because it was taboo in society for that to happen.
And now since a bunch of people are just hearing about this, they think that women are all going out cheating on guys all the time....when really they are just ignorant people who never heard about it until now, so they think its a new idea when really, its not.
9when is cheating ever acceptable?
10I love the laughing smiley J2e19 posted haha. That is how I feel about this quiz...I did not realize it was a survey and not my opinion. It is never acceptable to cheat!
11That's terrible... Aidan was such a great guy and she threw that all away... =\
12I think maybe what they are asking is did it bring the fact that females cheat to the forefront? I don't think it made it acceptable at all because I think the overwhelming feeling was that people were really upset when Carrie cheated on Aidan. I know I was really PO'd that she made him be around Big after they got back together even though she knew how much it hurt him. The show overall made the rality of women's sexuality more mainstream but I don't think it ever aimed to make cheating ok for either sex
13lol I answered with my opinion ... and got it wrong.
Must say I really like SJP's dress!!
14Well, I don't think cheating is ever acceptable but I do think the show has influenced women to date around more.
15I said no. Carrie cheated and lost - just like in real life.
16I agree with mtothawhat. It may be more acceptable to be in a casual, short-term relationship, but I can't imagine that many women thought cheating became acceptable just because Carrie did it.
17The question isn't whether cheating is acceptable, but whether we think that Sex in the City made women THINK cheating was more acceptable. Of course, the really weird thing about this quiz is that the correct answer is that it did make people think that cheating was more acceptable. Which is just strange because only 43% of women thought this. Which leads one to believe that 57% of women believed that Sex in the City DIDN'T make it more acceptable for women to cheat. So wouldn't the correct answer be that no, Sex in the City did not make women think it was more acceptable to cheat, since the simple majority of women voted that way? In a very scientific poll of 250 people?
18snowbunny, I agree. Basically, if 1% of women said yes, the answer to the survey would be "true" because technically that makes it "more acceptable."
I feel a little sorry for anyone who uses a TV show as their moral bearings.
19Carrie was the only one of the 4 women who cheated...and it tore her relationship and life apart.
20If anything I think it showed women what happens when you cheat. It tore Carrie's life apart and broke her heart to know that she'd hurt Aiden like that- as it should have.
21This is an opinion question. Reword it if you want to make it a right or wrong.
