We talk on this site a lot about 'trusting your gut' and 'listening to your instincts', and I wonder how often we heed our own advice. After all these years, I still second-guess my instincts, though much less than when I was in my twenties!
I'll find myself in some kind of internal dialogue, during which I let my mind (or judgement) explain away or refute what my gut is telling me. This song-and-dance happens over and over. Still, it's all about what we do, and I act much more quickly in favor of my instincts these days, despite the 'interference' from my thoughts.
Tell me, ladies: In most situations, do you trust your gut & act on what it 'tells' you?

1For the most part i listen to my instincts. They are normally on target but sometimes you have to take risks.

hehe...i do talk a lot about trusting instincts don't i? this is really gonna sound weird but i visited New Orleans a few months ago and this psychic/voodoo priestess told me that i was very perceptive and that i second-guessed myself too much and that i needed to work on trusting my instincts because they were right. i've been doing that since i got back and it's been working. i know its not because she told me to, but because i started trying to believe in myself more.
it's really hard to trust your instincts all the time but i think that if you were to choose a time to go with it, it would be when it comes to making important decisions. the other times (i.e. should i buy a sandwich or salad for lunch?)...eh, not so much. lol...i feel like such a dork now!
3yeah i think you are right nicachica. i am living with the consequences now of ignoring my gut instinct that I shouldn't have moved in with my best friend, or our friendship would be on the line, and now Im finding out that I should have! I just rationalized away that we wouldnt let petty stuff get in the way of our friendship, but it unfortunantely seems to be starting to now.
4I have good instincts. The few times I didn't go with them was in my teens, and I realized right away that I should have! Since then, I never, ever second guess myself.
5I think it's important to listen to your gut, and I'm pretty good at following what it's telling me. But sometimes my gut is plain wrong so I try to listen to what it's telling me, look for more clues, and then decide.
6i have great instincts and i always, always trust them.
7I'm psychic and sometimes I forget about it
8I am never disappointed when I listen to my instincts. I just wish I listened to them more.
