I’ll admit I’ve entertained a few rockstar fantasies in my day. There’s something endearing about a man who can make music — I mean what woman hasn't wanted a song written just for her? But real life has taught me that the musician lifestyle isn’t one I’m really cut out for, but what about you? Ladies, tell me, is a man with a guitar and a sweet voice a turn on or turn off?

Turn-off. Musicians aren't my type.
Turn on - if they're good.
i'm a sucker for a guy with a guitar. and i've dated a few drummers in my time lol. i can't say i want a musician as a bf (one who is actually playing a lot) but i love a boy who can play me a few songs!
Undecided, my dad is a musician and he spent a lot of time travelling when I was growing up so I'd barely see him. Although, this also means that hearing someone play music can be a turn on because I've grown up to having instruments in the house.
Ew. No thanks. All I think of is my uncle who gets in a circle to sing folk songs with his kids. Weird.
on for suuuuure for me. I don't think there's ever been one person I've dated and or fooled around with that wasn't in a band, or at least played an instrument.
In my limited experience, I've found musicians to be mostly arrogant. I've never really had a thing for them.
ON! But I'm biased because I'm a musician myself
I can't see myself NOT dating a
musician since music is pretty much my life now.
Generally, a turn-off. I appreciate a guy who is musically talented (my current bf plays guitar and keyboard, sings), but the others who I've known/dated have usually been too obsessed with it. Sitting around listening to a guy play his guitar - especially when he won't even play songs I want to hear! - is not my idea of a date. (Unless it's a Ryan Adams concert, anyway!)
Turn off. I've had an ex who could sing well but he was so obsessed with his abilities and loved to be the center of attention. Ugh. He was so into himself. I'm also don't have an interest in music so it would be hard to share this passion with the guy.
My ex was one, but he was a total slacker.
Even though I have dated a lot of non-musicians, all three of my long-term serious boyfriends have been musicians. I guess i definitely find it to be a turn-on and enjoy the rock-star girlfriend role!
turn on
It depends a lot on what they play and how they play it!
Eh...guess it depends. Generally not my type though. I could never deal with the lifestyle that many musicians lead...I watched my best friend date one for years, and let's just say, it didn't end good.
Turn on...I met my hubby after one of his shows when he was on tour. I'm now a permanent groupie...
I prefer a man who is more realistic. I'm not really into music, so a guy who has is obsessed with it would really be a turn-off. Also, I'm more interested in dating a guy that is in college working towards a stable career than someone who dreams of being a rock star. I'm too anti-partying and goal-oriented to be able to enjoy a musician's lifestyle. Even if once upon a time, I wanted a guy to write me a song.
not my type, i get awkward if a guy sings me a song
I love musicians!
I met my bf of 4 years on the other side of the country while he was on tour. We've been together ever since, but dealing with the lifestyle is definitely not easy!! He is gone A LOT!!! However, I've also had a ton of rad experiences thanks to him... I've met awesome people and gotten to travel with him quite a bit, but sometimes you sit home and just miss your man. It's definitely not for everyone, but I love him to death!
I'm a musician & chick singer, and while I find various musicians sexy, I would never want one as a boyfriend! LOL They were fun to mess around w/in college, but not my long-term cup of tea.
I'm w/silverlining10; I like the non-slacker type.
My businessman bf is sweeter & more romantic than any musician I've ever dated.
Your mileage may vary, of course.
I have a corporate career as well, so maybe that's one reason I feel more comfortable w/a business boy. Who knows.
turn on.
my guy started learning guitar a few weeks ago.
we're six hours apart due to the fact we met at college and is now summer break, so the first song he learned was "anyone else but you"
so he could call and play it for me
I don't really have a type but I dated a drummer a couple of years ago. There's something about musicians, particularly drummers that's really sexy. It's like they put their whole body of energy into an instrument...
I guess it would depend on the guy. I've never dated a musician and they're usually not my type. So I can't really say.
Turn-on in theory. Turn-off in reality.
Always date the rhythm section... drummers and bassists tend to be less arrogant.
Musicians = Good Sex = Bad Boyfriends
I have a thing for musicians even though ive never dated one. Ive always fantasized about being with a singer or just a guy who sings really well.
even the ugliest man can be sexy on stage.
completely agree with sundaygreen!
Well since i am married to a musician, turn on!
Doesn't have to be a guitar player or singer to be a musician. My ex boyfriend (but we still remain good friends) is a jazz musician, alto sax specifically and he is a TOTAL turn on. Esp since he knows how to use his lips. Other types of musicians, in bands- singers, guitar players and the like I dont have experience with... yet.
Not really my type...
I guess it depends on the type of music they write/play.
my bf plays lead guitar in a band, but its just for fun on the weekends (he works fulltime during the week)...its the best of both worlds! and very sexy!
I've dated a few musicians in my day, granted I'm not with one of them now but back then it was fun and that's all I really wanted.
having a guy sing to me is my absolute WORST NIGHTMARE!
having a guy sing to me is my absolute WORST NIGHTMARE!
one of my weaknesses, after geeks
Honestly, I don't know what it is, but every single guy I've dated (except for one) was a musician. My current boyfriend is a musician. Despite some of the stereotypes about musicians being jerks/lazy bums, I've dated with some wonderful people.
My dad is a musician and while yea he is super laid back, he's also one of the sweetest most caring people I have ever met. I like that side of musicians. I think a lot of musically inclined men are more in touch with their sensitive side, which can help communication and such.
I don't think I have ever dated someone who wasn't a musician!
I agree, Renees3!
Dated one. Didn't want to believe the stereotype with the drugs and DIE HARD devotion to their band over their mate(most times),but..well, let's just say I put my foot in my mouth. Won't be dating any rock musicians again. Learned a good lesson.
On another note though, a guy who just plays the guitar/piano or other instrument for a hobbie is damn sexy.
my broker plays the guitar during breaks in his day and i find that sexy. but only because he's an on-the-ball businessman first and a nurturing-his-sensual side musician second. that's the perfect proportion of responsible-to-sexy for me
Undecided. I don't really think I would want a musician for a boyfriend, but I once had a boyfriend who was in a band, and he wrote me a really cute song.
I'm a sucker for drummers....
I'm secretly in love with Taylor Hanson...well maybe it's not so much of a secret!
only rockstars
How could you not love them?
