You won't find Carrie and Mr. Big making out on the street of Jerusalem. Sex and the City advertisers have decided to forgo marketing in Jerusalem and Petah Tikva, Israel, in order to avoid offending devoutly religious residents.
The ad company is worried that the word "Sex," as well as racy pictures of the films' stars could, provoke widespread objection. This isn't the first time SATC has employed a different marketing campaign in these locations. During the shows television heyday, a poster was modified to make Sarah Jessica Parker's outfit into a more modest ensemble.
Not wanting to be labeled prude, the city of Petah Tikva went out of its way to clarify that it had nothing to do with the decision. And, an official from Jerusalem called reports that the city had censored the billboards slanderous.
Are sexy posters offensive to even the non-religious? Is the company taking a paternalistic attitude toward these residents? Or are they just sensibly avoiding a confrontation and negative backlash?

It makes sense, Natalie Portman shot a move in Israel a few years back and in people protested and even threw things at her during a kissing scene.
One positive of this is that between displayed sexuality and gay pride parades, we get two things Israel and Palestine agree on!
1oh geez. well, whatever their staus quo is over there should be honored.
2I can't wait to see this movie!
Other then that I agree with zeze and Kris.
3i can't wait to see it too! it makes me feel a little sentimental becuase the years went by so fast. I remember when SATC first started! those were the days...we all wore giant flower pins, I had more than 100 pairs of shoes...
4I'm going with my best girl friend after the crowds die down!
I hope I havent read too many spoilers... but I'm too impatient!
5meanwhile, here in the liberal enclave of san francisco, we want ads that are MORE racy.
6I had never seen an episode until the show was over, but everyone used to call my Carrie because of my hair when I do not straighten it, looks exactly like hers.
Anyway, a friend of mine rented it one night, and I became addicted. I watched the entire series in like 2 weeks. It was sick.
7hello lovahs!
8okay ya'll, Sy's made the fashion page again!
9Sy i wish you could come over to my closet and tell me what stuff goes together. Then we would go shopping, and you would tell me what to buy.
10It makes sense to not have that kind of advertising in areas like that. Its crazy that in our parents day Rob and Laura petry(sp?) from the Dick Van Dyke show had 2 twin beds in there bedroom so no one would see them sleeping in the same bed...Now they have movies with the word "SEX" in it. How things have changed...for the better? I can't say.
11I would love to do that Kris!!!
12I'm going to have to start playing dress up and taking some pictures of my outfits. All I ever wear are t-shirts and skirts. I'm so safe.
13I'm in the minority here, I never liked Sex and the City. Carrie was annoying and desperate, Samantha scared me, I always wanted to slap Charlotte, but I sort of liked Miranda...
To be totally honest, I always thought they were too old, the story lines were overkill (especially Samantha) and the clothes were usually too strange (but here I kind of liked Charlotte).
14Sy you can dress me too. I need a stylist.
15Do it Kris! It's a lot of fun. I find that I'm more original and daring when I'm going to post it for my friends to see!
zeze you're such a Charlotte!
16suh-weet, I'm going to be the citizensugar stylist!
17Okay, I want to know too! What do you mean, what is this fashion page?
18"zeze you're such a Charlotte"
haha...I've been told I was a Miranda (the cynic), I've watched a handful of episodes, so I dunno, but isn't Charlotte the classic innocent/prude?
19yeah I'd just assume that Charlotte wouldn't actually like the show!
citizen it's on fabsugar
20I liked the concept that each woman on the show was a different facet of a woman's psyche, but I can see what you are saying about over the top.
I was never a fan of their clothes, so I am right there with you, but I could not stand Miranda.
21Charlotte is no prude, although she would like to think of herself as one.
22That Eiffel tower bag Carry has in the pic on this post is growing on me...
23Sy, are you good with hairstyles too? I need help figuring out what to do with my hair for the wedding.
24um if you have short-ish hair I might be good...
25Who watches gossip girl - from what I've seen of SATC, GG is the younger/prettier version, and I like GG, so I think this boils down to me being completely superficial.
Cine, how could you not stand Miranda, she is the only sane one!
26Carrie = desperate
Charlotte = needy
Samantha = Ewww
Miranda was fairly sane (from the few episodes I've seen on TBS, why do they show the same ones over AND over AND over??)
I LOVE GOSSIP GIRL! My husband makes fun of me so much about it. Now that's definitely my guilty pleasure.
27So cute syako! I leave the expertise over such things to Fab, but I love the belt over vest! Cute, cute, plus also now I need to go to Target!
28Cine, since you have curly hair, I think this (http://z.about.com/d/prom/1/7/u/-/-/-/uma.jpg) would be beautiful for a wedding!
29Nope. I got long hair. Bah! I am having such a hard time with this part, everything else was easy for me to make a choice on.
30What's your veil like?
31Thanks citizen! I
target!
32oooh z, that's pretty (let's play gossip girl today, you can be "z" I'll be "s" and cine will be "c" and kris will be "k"
33Ze! That is one of the styles I was thinking of! Maybe it is a sign.
Oh and Miranda is just no fun. She was a Debbie Downer. I don't watch Gossip Girl. I don't like shows about teenagers, but maybe I shold give it a chance.
34Sy, I have two veils. One is Cathedral and the other is the second longest veil, I can't remember the name of it.
35They are totally NOT teenagers... I mean, they are technically, but it's so not like Saved By the Bell
Uma is gorgeous.
36(cine go to greatstufftv . com / gossip-girl/ )
You can watch the whole first season online.
37Actually, I play GG in real life too, all my friends call me Z
Cine...I mean...C, I LOVE wedding planning (except I think planning my own will be cruel and unusual punishment to those around me) - so do tell, what are your plans, updo, down, stright, curly (I would recommend going with how you usually wear it so it looks like you but prettier in the pics) and what sort of veil?
38yeah what sort of veil, c
39Yeah, but aren't they slutty, rich teenagers? That just makes it worse. I grew up in New York. I had to see slutty rich teenagers all my life. They just annoy me.
40I'm going to be looking at hairstyles all day now that you got me started!
Isn't this beautiful: http://www.brides.com/images/editorial/2006_online/10_slideshows/02_beau...
41I normally have a mess of hair, because there is so much of it, so it either looks exactly like Carrie Bradshaws or when I straighten it it looks less crazy, and I have bangs. I either wear it down, or in a high pony tail with side sweeping bangs. I also am trying to decide what color my hair should be. So many decisions!
I have two veils. One is Cathedral and the other is the second longest veil, I can't remember the name of it. I feel like since I have two veils that having my hair down would be too much.
Ze, I wish I had you to plan my wedding. I hate planning parties.
42I would ban it just because I wouldnt want to see these hags kissing anyone.
43Oooo that one is pretty too. Those styles are right up my alley.
44Yeah I hated planning mine too cine! I just didn't care and my sister was freaking out all the time about me not having anything done
oh well, it all worked out anyhow!
45just watch an episode or two, I bet you'll get hooked
46"I grew up in New York. I had to see slutty rich teenagers all my life. They just annoy me."
That made me laugh.
I grew up around pretty well-adjusted, nice Midwesterners, so
for me Gossip Girl is a nice escape. If that makes any sense at all...oh, that and I seriously covet some of those clothes...
47...and syako's right. You will be hooked. People are powerless against the draw of GG. (And for me, I'll watch pretty much anything Josh Schwartz puts out...)
48Cine, I want to see your wedding pictures!!! when are you getting hitched? soon?
49Okay. For you sy, I will watch two episodes. I will give anything a chance, but I have a feeling it will get on my nerves.
Em, it is true. In New York, they really are trust fund brats running around, whoring themselves out, and acting above everyone else. It was always Us against Them when I was a teenager. And we always won
I could not watch the O.C either.
