CNN has just projected that Barack Obama will walk away with a win in Oregon. The state has 52 pledged delegates to award, almost the same as Kentucky.

Speaking in Iowa, where this whole primary season began, Obama said:
In spite of all the doubt and disappointment — or perhaps because of it — you came out on a cold winter's night in numbers that this country has never seen, and you stood for change. And because you did, a few more stood up. And then a few thousand stood up. And then a few million stood up. And tonight, in the fullness of spring, with the help of those who stood up from Portland to Louisville, we have returned to Iowa with a majority of delegates elected by the American people, and you have put us within reach of the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.
On a side note, the long Democratic race has meant one other bonus: Oregon matters! My home state, the vote-by-mail only, late-in-the-primary game Beaver State has finally made more than a faint ripple in the pre-game show. I'm just delighted. Where do the Democrats go from here?

I hear ya there, Citizen. I live in Kentucky and it seems the usually call the victor before we even vote.
1This time we matter!
2I didn't think anything in Kentucky mattered after the Derby....
3I like your avatar UnDave.
4Nothing will stop the Obama juggernaut. Nothing! I can not wait until he takes his rightful place in the White House where all those he has vanquished lay before him in an obsequious mass of fear and wonder!
I await that fated day and rejoice in its swift coming!
5Rac who's side are you on? You are playing both sides!
6Oregon's the Beaver State? I'll have to visit more often.
7I feel so left out! The first time my state of record actually matters in primary season and it's not my party.
Oh well. The only consolation is that my husband will be back in time for the general election this time around and no one will be able to try to throw his vote away again.
8So you guys vote in mailboxes citizen?
Go beavers!
9Hi 3M
10Syako - We can mail in or drop off our ballots.
11Like the absentee ballots???
12Right. The entire state votes by absentee ballot.
13So how do they account for voter fraud? Do you have voter registration cards? I'm confused
Enlighten me Jenn!
14Yeah for Obama!
Go Team Blue!

I'm planning a sudden move.
16I don't know how they catch voter fraud. We do have voter registration cards. In fact, I was hunting for ours just this morning because I'm pretty sure we're registered as Independents and I wasn't sure why we didn't get primary ballots.
We have to sign and seal the inner envelope that contains our ballot and enclose it in a mailing envelope. I guess that certifies that we are in fact voting in our own names and I'm sure there is some penalty for fraud.
17That's weird. I just assumed everyone voted in those nifty little voting booth thingys (yes, that IS the technical term for them).
Oregon is so crazy
18Hmm...ok you reminded me that I was hunting for those this morning before I got distracted by taking Little Man to school. I've found them now, and this just says "Voter Notification Card" and lists our voter number, political party, etc... So, maybe it's not actually the same thing as a "Voter Registration Card". But, it's been all absentee ballot voting pretty much since I've been a registered voter, so I don't know what else other states have.
Apaprently, we are registered Republicans. I had forgotten that we changed that for the last presidential primary so that we could vote. Not that it counted. lol
19Crazy in a good way.
I've only voted in an actual booth once.
And that was like ten years ago.
20Well as long as you've done it once... right?
Crazy in an awesome way.

22BTW - Thanks Lula
23Harmony, I'm just hedging my bets.
24I'm from NC and just like Oregon the nomination is usually decided before our primary is held. It was a wonderful experience to have our state primary matter. And it was also pretty cool to be able to see the candidates campaigning through the state and hear what they had to say while in the company of hundreds/thousands of other democrats in my city. I hope this feeling of enthusiasm and empowerment continues through to the general election. Obama is an amazing leader, and if anyone can motivate the country to come together it's him.
25buckley, I like your comments...and your avtar is precious! What a cuddly pup!
26I love that drop off box.
