MoveOn.org just announced the winner in its "Obama in 30 Seconds" contest, and here it is. It's called "Obamacan" and tells the story of a life-long Republican veteran who's voting for Obama.

It's fine. Serviceable — but doesn't really grab me? But then they didn't include me on the star-studded panel of judges (weird, I know!) that included Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Julia Stiles, and Adrian Grenier. MoveOn received 1,100 entries and 5.5 million people nationwide cast their vote to help select the 15 finalists. The Move-sters have endorsed Obama (the first time they've taken a stand during the primaries) and will spend $200,000 to televise “Obamacan” in battle ground states like Ohio, Colorado, and Wisconsin.
This next one is my personal favorite (sorry Matt and Ben) but then I'm a sucker for '90s-era sitcom star Rider Strong and also baby chicks and cleverness.

Check out all of the finalists, see if you have a favorite. Did these MoveOn ads get you moving?

i. am. suffering. from. obama. overload. please. stop.
1I hear you. He's hijacked the news cycle, that's for sure. I wonder what the response will be tonight when Hillary wins WV? I'm ready for the big D/R campaign that's for sure. Did you hear about the possibility of McCain Obama one-on-one appearances? That could be something!
2we need somebody who is going to represent the left and the right?! what?!
gosh.
and the other one is a bit cheese-tastic for my taste. I agree citizen
3I think that it is a good ad. I think that it will appeal to the people who are skeptical of Obama...which is who we need to target. It will appeal to the demographics that he needs help with.
I think the Hope commercial is hysterical! The chick was great!!! :chick: What show was that guy on? Boy Meets World?
But I also kind of agree with syako...I am really jonesing for some John McCain threads!
4"Did you hear about the possibility of McCain Obama one-on-one appearances? That could be something!"
I agree!!! It would be bigger than the Rolling Stone's tour! I think it would draw a lot of bystanders into politics, because they could get to hear from both sides in one place. I also think it will highlight the contrasts between the 2 men.
5Um he does NOT represent the Right. At all!!!
And I would love to know know how many Dems are switching to republican this year. I mean Dems cannot truly believe they are the only people who have voters coming over from the other side.
6Even McCain threads tend to go towards Obama threads. Every thread seems to get steared towards Obama.
7Let's make our own videos cine, and put it on a site called getoveryourself dot org.
Mine will feature a lifelong communist deciding to vote for McCain.
8can't...take...it...anymore. ..going...to...explode...if
9...I...hear...his...name...one...more...time.
Ooh here's some McCain-y goodness: they took all the candidates' signatures and analyzed their handwriting... apparently "the H in John stands tall, a sign of pride, idealism and ambition. 'He pushes very hard to get what he wants'...So if the experts are right... McCain takes charge, and does it his way."
10Harmonyfrance! Here's one for you! Hillary walked into a restaurant and there was a lady wearing a huge O-word shirt--and "As Clinton left the building, Smith stepped up to shake her hand. She told the candidate that getting a Democrat in office was her priority.
"It's been too long since we have," Clinton agreed, touching Smith's shoulder gently, and smiling."
Gently. Smiling. Classy.
11They both suck! The first one is better though, i think it will appeal to more people, but the second one i think will only appeal to the younger crowd and they like Obama already!
12I am confused...If you are so sick of him, why not just pass over the thread? Don't force yourself to read or watch something unpleasant!
13aww jill where's the fun in that??
thanks for the follow up citizen! i hate when people post things and then you never know how they turned out! thank god we have you!
14Thanks citizen...the raging beast is calming down once more. sigh.
15pass over a thread?! never!
16wouldn't it be hysterical if it turned out that this guy wasn't actually in the air force??
i wonder if they did their background research... nothing against the obama people, just that nowadays it seems like anyone will say anything to get their 15 minutes! and no one does their due diligence anymore!

18ahhh dang it! sorry luvs!
19uh, Jillness has a point there!
20Did you see the first result on google for John Weiler!? I wonder if it's the same man. Apparently his family was murdered brutally in 1982 and he is pro death penalty.
21If we passed over every Obama thread, or ignored everything that had to do with Obama, I personally would be living in my closet. I can't go anywhere with out seeing Obama Mama shirts, or something like that. I wish I would ignore it, but alas, it is impossible.
22Does anyone else find it interesting that the winner and the first runner up say NOT ONE WORD about Obama's qualifications, policies, or ideas?
Instead they chose to rest on his cool factor and.... honestly, I can't think of anything else. Really the ad says NOTHING. I mean, truly, NOTHING.
23If I were an Obama supporter, I think I'd be pissed!
Its these kinds of ads that let people like me rant and rave about how it seems like most people like him becuase its cool to like him.
24I choose to no longer acknowledge it. Election? What election? I thought this country was ran by the tooth fairy.
25I hate that Cabaker. I despise when people vote just on what is cool. They did the same thing last election with Kerry.
26And look how well that worked out!
27Kerry was cool?
28If Hillary gets the nomination, what does everyone think about the McCain/Obama ticket? There's some crossover power...
29What's an e.l.e.c.t.i.o.n.? Is that some sort of pastry?
30Undave, I don't even know how to react to a comment like that.
31mmmm pastries
32I KNEW UD WASN'T A REAL CONSERVATIVE! oops...ummm...I mean...what's a conservative?
33Uh, looks like Mr. UnDave just went gold! Nice!
34Though maybe I'm behind? Anyway, it's a good color for you
35I want to go platinum! I have been on this site for 3 freaking years! Since before there was a status for people!
36Thank you Citizen. I've always considered myself a Gold standard
37I mean, congrats Undave on going Gold.
38cine play the stinkin' guess who games!
39Cine you gotta start doing those Guess Whos... those are the easiest way to get the points!
40also sugar loving gives you like 5 points, I think.
41Thanks Cine. Are there other games to play on here, besides teh guess who's?
42Dare I ask what sugar loving is?
43I play and I never guess right so I don't get the points!
44Sugar lovin goes something like this
45awww...then I like sugar loving....
46http://www.sugarloving.com/
47It's where you link articles and people can "heart" them if they like them. So let's say you find an interesting piece on Hil on some Website, you can save the link to sugar loving (earning 5 points) and then your friends can look at it and tell you if they "heart" it or not.
48I just answer all the guess who's right.
49That ad is a tad silly, I'm afraid. One veteran says he's supporting Obama and that's supposed to represent a political viewpoint? I know you've all moved on, but I just got here. Please continue with your emoticon picnic.
