Bill Cosby's rap album is dropping this May! That's right, the comedian and activist will mash up his book Come on, People: On the Path from Victims to Victors with hip hop, pop, and jazz beats.
Cosby won't be dishing the rhymes himself on the album Cosby Narratives Vol. 1: State of Emergency. Guest rappers will flow about the value of education, self-respect, in an attempt to increase the self-esteem and confidence of listeners.
The 70-year-old comedian has caused controversy, most recently for urging African Americans to move on from their successful civil rights battles. Do you think his hip hop album, which he calls the opposite of gangsta rap, will catch the attention of the community he seeks to reach? Will Bill succeed in turning around what he calls the "frustration and the anger that a young man may have"?

I would consider buying it, but I don't fit the demographic he is trying to meet.
1I love me some Flo Jo! Great picture!
2I will definitely check this out. Bill is one of my favorite celebs.
3I will check it out! I love me some Bill!
4Oh I remember Flo Jo. I miss her, too bad she passed away so so young.
5That is just about the best picture EVER!
6Bill Cosby is such a sad example of an upper class black man who is too comfortable with where civil rights are at in this country. All I can say is, Michael Eric Dyson's got the right end of this debate.
7Yay! I love Bill Cosby. Good to hear that he's still active in these issues. And minaminamina I must respectfully disagree. Cosby knows all too well the dangers of ignorance and racism-- his own son was a victim of that bigotry not too long ago.
8And yet Cosby exemplifies the very classist rhetoric that many middle-class blacks exhibit because they are so far from the struggles of poor urban and rural black people. Being black doesn't mean you automatically understand CLASS - racism, maybe, but class? Cosby clearly does not get it, and is abusing the modern form of class-struggle expression in order to prove his backwards point.
Cosby would be more at home with J.P. Morgan than a poor ghetto schoolkid, let's just say that much.
