When the wedding march rings out in Crawford, TX on May 10, Jenna Bush will be wearing Oscar de la Renta. The designer just confirmed he's designing the first daughter's gown, saying, "Yes, I am doing her dress. We've already started and we're going to make it very special."
Jenna will be 27 when she marries Henry Hager at her family's ranch. Thank goodness she's getting hitched because it made me find this great web site, WhiteHouseWeddings.com. Did you know:
There have been twenty-one White House weddings, including nine presidential children and one president, Grover Cleveland. Two other presidents were married outside the White House during their time in office, John Tyler and Woodrow Wilson.
I do not know why Jenna's not having her ceremony at the ol' White House — I would do that in a heartbeat! She'll be the best-dressed bride in Texas. I wonder if she's getting white cowboy boots designed to go with?

I'm not that surprised that Oscar is doing her dress because I know Laura Bush wears a lot of his stuff and Carolina Herrara!
I just hope the dress isn't too conservative! haha!
1Oh my.
2oh, Lord, we don't all wear cowboy boots here!
3yes you do Kris!
4Oh Kris, yes you do. And don't deny you only have one tooth as well.
5She is 27, where have the years gone.
6girls, I have no idea where my boots even are. It's been 4 or 5 years since I last saw them. I even had a horse up until about December, and I didn't even ride in boots! I wore my hiking tennis shoes. Boots just don't go well with Seven jeans, my favorite. I mean, you have to look cute when you ride.
7shooot, i'd TOTALLY have my wedding in the White House! but seriously, Oscar de la Renta? i'm with you Syako...:SNOOZE:
8oh wait, i did it wrong:
9
Kris, I seriously love you.
10Seven jeans... ahhhh... I love them, but they are too rich for my blood
11When my cousin got married (we're from Texas) she did in fact wear white cowboy boots with her wedding dress. But she's the only one I've ever heard of actually doing it!
12aw, i love you back!
I am not going to lie, I have owned (in my super distant past) some rocky mountains with silver conches on them. I had a boyfriend in college who had a belt buckle with a goat on it. like that he wore every day.
13I had a friend in college who had an NRA belt buckle... thats gotta be the piece of promo swag ever... talk about knowing your demographic!
14I have no idea what Seven jeans are
15geeez Cine, get with it!!
16They're expensive jeans, but they make your rear look fantastic. I was all opposed to them before I tried some on. then I saw what they did for my butt and I was SOLD.
17I know! I don't know any of your music, and am completely clueless when it comes to fashion. I feel so behind, like I am on the short bus.
18Hahaha. Oh cine, when you get to be president I'll buy you some seven jeans, AND paige premium jeans (my personal fave)
19I love paige too, syako. remember when designer jeans were like, from the Gap? and they cost $50, and that was soooo expensive? I remember my mother saying, "I bought you that pair of $50 jeans this year, so you better take care of them." $50 is still a chunk of money, but it doesn't get you very far!
20Jeans are insanely expensive now... I remember in HS I saw some Diesel ones and I was like, One day, I will be able to afford Diesel!
And when I got my first real job I went to Diesel and bought some stuff... that was 5 years ago and I still have the sweater though I never wear it... I feel I have to hold on to it because it was so pricey!
21But i also like Express Jeans, which are very cute and about half the price. also, they come in a decent length that youdon't have to get taken up. They're not like 6 inches longer than your feet, and you can wear flats!
22Do Seven jeans hold their color well? My jeans always fade because I wear them so much and wash them at least once a week...
23I don't like seven, personally, but if you want jeans that hold color buy J Brand. I've had them for about 2 years and washed them a lot and they look brand new. (Plus with designer jeans they don't stretch out so you don't have to wash after every wear)
24Yes Kris, I remember those days. My husband laments those days.
25j brand... hmm i will look into that! shopping is pretty scarce here though...
26It depends on how you wash and dry them. I've learned the hard way, and by letting my roommate wash my clothes. (sigh) you have to wash them inside out on cold and hang them to dry. Some people get them dry cleaned, which is just a bit past my threshold for pain in the butt.
But I'm wearing my dark Express jeans today, and they have held their color fantastically well. The only problem is they are stretch, and after one wear you can pretty much pants me and they'll come off. So I can't make em last a few days like the others.
27I know about Express jeans! I love Express jeans, except I have the problem is that sometimes they are too short for me.
28I used to have express jeans, lately I've bought NY and Co since they are cheap (esp. with all the coupons they send out)...
I should go back to express... my husband always finds Lucky jeans at Marshalls for like 20 bucks instead of 120... grrr, I hate boys.
29yay cine! see you are not on the short bus. we are just all riding on the fashion overspenders bus. come to the dark side...we have cookies, and fancy jeans!
30I wish Kris! I have stupid wedding I have to save for. But when that is over with, you girls can tell me what to buy since I am clueless.
31gladly! I
shopping. hehehe.
32since we're on the topic of fashion... i have a confession.
i *HATE* the flats trend. i cannot WAIT for it to pass by, but it just keeps hold on!
flats are just not flattering on me at all, i need a heel, any kind of heel.
33(cabaker, I buy them online, you can find good sales and most have free shipping/free returns!)
And cine, all the designer denim comes with like ungodly 39 inch inseam!! I mean, who has a 39 inch inseam?
34Me too cabaker! And flats always hurt my heels and pinkie toes
35I
it when we get off topic. Group
36Hiya KrisSugar! Ha! I would never stereotype all Texans as cowboy boot-wearers--but I was wearing a pair myself when I wrote this so I was inspired
37Were they REAL cowboy boots Citizen or just fashion ones??
38Sy, I find flats make me look stumpy.. so I avoid them all together which is really hard because they are like 70% of shoes right now!
The only flats I wear are flip flops, which I live in in the summer... sooooo I guess its ok if the flat trend sticks around, since its summer here 6 months of the year!
39SO with you cabaker. Flats don't do much for anyone, unless they have mile long legs and skinny ankles. On me, they look matronly, unless I'm wearing pants. everybody secretly thinks they're going to look like a ballerina.
40Um..What does a 39 inch inseam mean?
I hate the flats trend as well! That, and I HATE wedges. They make me look like I have cankles!
41I have never even tried to wear flats. Why wear flats when you can wear a heal?
42from the crotch of the pant to the ankle is 39 inches of material. Meaning that someone's leg is that long.
43I never wear wedges either! I love my heels, anything that makes me look longer and leaner!
4439 inches?!? do they do that because they think you should hem them?
45Oh I have a good confession, I did not own my first pair of heals until I was 22!
46Yes. but also to make you feel incredibly short and stumpy.
I love wedges!
47That actually might work for me because i have a HUGE issue buying pants. They are NEVER long enough. I always look like I am wearing high waters. Maybe that is why I like heels because it does not look as strange.
48Gasp cabaker! Real of course!
I got 'em here. Though admittedly they are dress boots... don't hold it against me?
49aw citizen, I know you weren't.
you're more fashion forward than me! I guess I don't
wear them because... when women here wear them it's more of a Kicker thing. Or, you're a hippie who wears them with a flowerdy dress and dances at a Toni Price concert.
