We can be very critical of ourselves, ladies. And often we're quick to deflect a compliment, without letting it really sink in, without really feeling it sometimes. Are we worried we'll be perceived as conceited or self-centered? I keep wanting to really connect with compliments when I receive them, and I want to connect with the generosity of the person who's offered one! Recognition can be emotionally complicated for some of us, but it's also an important experience to let in.
Do tell, what was the most memorable or meaningful compliment you've ever received?

People have told me they think highly of me and wow that's a pick compliment!I have low self esteem and when someone says they think highly of me that makes me feel proud!
1All my life people have always told me i was beautiful and i have always tried to accept the compliments with tact.I'm somewhat on the shy side so it was hard not to get a little uncomfortable with it sometimes. I'm happy to say i've gotten alot better through the years. But i would have to say that the most meaningful and the one i will remember for the rest of my life came from my five year old daughter while we were out shopping for the holidays. She gave me this big hug, told me how nice i am, and said was she was so proud of me for thinking of and buying a few new toys this past christmas to donate to some homeless boys and girls. She didn't know that i had been doing it for years. It made my heart feel so good.Just to hear that was well worth it.
2My boyfriend and I are gamers, and he said that i'll always be his player 2, a very high compliment if you know what's what in that world.
3I have always been told that people think I am older than I am. Not that I look older but that I act older than my age. I was told this when i was in my teens and early 20. I think that is a wonderful compliment!
4Awww vmrruby youre daughter is so sweet!
5i know this sounds really cheesy (REALLY REALLY), but my bf always tells me: i love you just the way you are....
it always makes me feel so good and so comfortable, i don't have to be anything other than what i am for him...
6What does gamer mean any how stefapie?
7A person or people who habitually play video games as their main hobby.

9My little boy was looking at a pic of me in my wedding dress, and he asked me, "Mummy, you be a princess?" I totally melted. I think he was three at the time. Now he is nine, and is just as sweet!
10Thanks Honey!!!Yes she is and i adore her......
11Thank you so much for explaining that to me Stefapie.Awwww its cheesy lizatoad its very sincere that's what counts!
12I meant to say its not cheesy its so sweet lol I cant write to well can I.My brain is scrambled I'm still in shock losing my Dad.
13Oh Honey, I am so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, i know only too well exactly how painful it is to lose a parent. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family......
14Thank you so much vmruby you are sweet.I also send my condolences to you for you re loss.
15honey - that's really sad... are you doing ok?
16Thanks Honey it's greatly appreciated.........
17one day, my gran told me I was het favorite grandchild. it was completely out of character for her to say something like that, as the family had always been totally egalitarian, and there were at the time over twenty grandchildren. that night, she died, unexpectedly. I so cherish her remark. I still miss her, even though it was 8 years ago.
18Before my boyfriend and I got together, he told me he admired how strong and independent I am. Now that we are together, he tells me that I'm beautiful, but that he loves my mind more than anything. Always makes me feel good!
19I was a very anxious and not so great student as a result, all through grammar and high school so didn't go to college right away. I started working and then began going back to school at night and surprised myself by getting an A in every class. I took one particuarly challenging class at NYU and made a comment one night where one of the other students laughed and said, 'Well, you're the biggest brain in the class so of course YOU thought of that and nobody else." I was totally taken aback by the comment, and it's definitely my favorite compliment to date.
20My Mikey has recently taking to saying "Mommy you Beaufull Mommy you Gangster"
21An good friend of mine told me recently he considers me to be one of the most confident women he's ever met, and that he admires that I'm never afraid to make up my own mind about things, and not let social pressure dictate what I do.
I was amazed! How I have been deceiving him is beyond me, but hey, I guess if that's how he sees me I'll take it!
22Lizatoad I have crying spurts one minute Im fine the next Im balling my eyes out.It sure is hard going througha loss I know many of you on here have also lost someone or even a beloved animal.I thank you girls for youre kind worrs they make me feel much better.

24man, I've gotten alot of compliments~never thought I'd say that cause you're right, it does seem like someone is conceited or whatever....My son calls me a hot mama
I don't see what everyone else see's, I've been told I am beautifl my whole life..asked many times if
I'v ever done any modeling, WATHA!!!!!!!???? got complimented by a highly respected model/talent scout and when I got 2 calls, one from N.Y. and one from N.C. interested in my voice and sport

so they found someone else!
um sugar friends on here have said things that I'll never forget about me being the best Aunt ever for
my niece..........
Very nice of you to do that for less fortunate kids!
25vm* I LOVE THAT STORY!!!! I bet you had to sit down for a minute, that's really sweet of your daughter..out of the mouths of babes come the truth!
The best compliement Ive ever recieved is one that I get on a regular basis-is that bragging? lol. anyways, i've always been told that I have a light in me, so to speak. People all say it in different ways, but thats basically it. It means a lot to me cause it's about who i am, and not my looks or anything like that.
26I still smile when I remember that 2 weeks ago, on a saturday afternoon at the gym, some woman was working with her trainer while i was lifting weights and listening to my music. I couldn't hear what she was saying, but she was pointing at me...I have somewhat low self esteem, so I immediately thought "this b**** is talking crap" so I took off my headphones and looked over, and she said "I just asked my trainer if she could make me look like you"
It was the most heartwarming thing I have ever heard. I felt bad about thinking so negatively immediately, and wish she knew how much that little comment meant--and still means--to me.
27Thanks MOMO!!!I love kids and i hate knowing that there are some who go without christmas presents. Yeah she's an awesome kid and those were some of the sweetest words i've ever heard. I want to set a good example for her. Hopefully i am.
28My 3 year old nephew gave me the cutest compliment ever. He said "Tinkerbell is the prettiest girl in the whole world, but your prettier than her". It melted my heart.
29I am a nurse and was once caring for an elderly gentleman who I’d looked after for years and whose death was imminent.
He knew he was going to die and asked me to sit with him until he had gone because I was “one of the kindest and most beautiful souls I’ve ever been fortunate enough to meet”
30reeveske - this might seem like a weird question, but are you lds?
