You’re staying at your boyfriend’s parents’ house for a few days when in town for a wedding. This is your first time meeting them and you’re on your absolute best behavior, you've even been following the separate bedroom rule to a tee! Things seem to be going really well until you start to feel upset to your stomach before bed. The next morning you wake up to a totally embarrassing situation. Would it be worse if . . .
This: As soon as you get out of bed — you see a huge red spot in the middle of the pristine taupe sheets? With all the fuss about the wedding and meeting his folks, you completely forgot you were getting your period.
Or…
That: A quick trip to the bathroom to relieve your ailing stomach leads to 45 minutes of desperate plunging? But it’s no use, after the fifth flush the entire toilet overflows leaking on to the hallway carpet.
They’re both terribly embarrassing, but which is worse?

at least with the period you can save yourself the embarassment from your man and his father, and potentially quietly tell the mom and hope she takes pity on you (which she will if she's a nice lady)....or you can say nothing and get the hell uot of there and hope she doesn't notice until you're long gone...but that's probably a less cool idea
1even so, 45 mins in the bathroom and toilet water on the hallway floor is certainly no way to impress anyone in the house
yeah, the stain is way more sympathetic. the toilet is just gross.
2Having to plunge poop...I would be mortified.
3gross! the first one would be MUCH better.
4I'm with with skigirl on this. More than likely you could tell the mom and she would be sympathetic and help clean it up. I'm sure every woman can understand.
5Oops, I chose "This" thinking it was 'would you rather', not 'would it be worse'.
6You can always try and wash the sheets yourself.
7Divinelight, I was thinking the same thing......Either way the stain would be way better! Although they both suck.
8Both are horrible, but the toilet overflowing is just bad and gross!
9Blairbear, I have accidentally voted for the wrong thing in the past as well thinking it was a 'would you rather' kind of situation. The whole 'this or that' phrasing makes understanding these polls a lot harder than it should be.
10Yea, I've had to go and re-read the questions in the "This or That' a few times before and just forgot this time. Glad I'm not the only one.
11Seriously, That happened to me. I would've taken [i]This;
The story goes as this. I was on a trip to visit my boyfriend in NY, at the time I lived in TX. This would be my first time meeting his family. So, one night I had Pizza.. it GREATLY upsetting my stomach, and I went to the bathroom. Not knowing this was an older house, with VERY bad plumbing, I didn't flush the toliet until the end. When I did, it was backed up, and having been blessed most my life with nice plumbing, I was ignorant on what to do besides get the plunger. That I did, I worked.. and then it overflowed all out onto the ground. I told his Mother, who I didn't say what it was, but if it looks like sh*t, and smells like sh*t.. then it's sh*t, not throw-up. Which, she thought it was the latter, and then proceeded to ask Erik if I was annorexic.
From then on, she decided to hate me, based on that. And that I'm 'taking her child from her' but her official reason to give hate was that.
It sucks.
But this isn't every mother. She's just painfully hateful, and ignorant.
12I think I voted wrong too. Boo!
13I choose this. At lease with the sheets I can keep it quiet and tell my boyfriends mother what happened because I am sure any woman would understand. I would be mortified if the toilet overflowed and it was my fault. I would probably end up panicking and then crying.
14You can't help starting your womanly... I would much rather pay to replace the sheets.
But... You can do multiple flushes while making a big boombie so as not to clog the toilet! Gross!
That would be so awful!
15Hmm, well if you have a nice boyfriend, he could always take the blame for the toilet overflow, hahaha.
16I know I've taken the blame for things he has done, like breaking the shutters at my parents' house, because he was too scared to 'fess up!
I actually had "That" happen to me at a boyfriend's house when we were visiting his parents at Christmas. I'll spare everyone the gory details, but let's suffice it to say, after 5 or 6 flushes, I knew I could have to tell someone--there wasn't a plunger in the bathroom either! So I went to my bf quietly to see if he could help out (oh, and we were newly dating! EEP!), but he didn't know where one was, so he quietly went to his dad, who wasn't quiet at all! I'm pretty sure the whole family figured it out when his dad marched through the living room, plunger in hand saying "Well, looks like SOMEONE takes their fiber!"
17We broke up shortly after.
wow lolagrape that sucks big time! yeah the period is SO much better...i would just tell my boyfriend and then he would deal with it for me....even though its completely natural and its not like you have control over when you get your period!
18Yeah, I'd definitely rather have the period one happen to me. It's easy to forget about, at least it is for me. Plus, I think most moms would be sympathetic about that one.
19The toilet is MUCH worse.
20I voted wrong too. Must learn to read more carefully... plunging is much worse and less accidental.
21Period stain is wayyy BETTER>>>> The mom would understand...
22I'd take the period accident over the toilet mishap ANY day.
23Wow, both would royally suck but I think the bathroom incident would be worse!
24awwww.
25both of these things happened to me with a former BF, though niether happened at his parent's place.
i was mortified both times, but he was super cool about it and still wanted to be with me.
I really SHOULD have married him...
The toilet is just mortifying! I take "this" because you can wash the sheets, much easier than fixing the toilet. Also, you can just quietly tell the mother or the sister; more than likely they would be understanding.
26By the way, a little know fact; your own saliva can help remove your own blood stains. The enzymes in your saliva can help break down the blood stains. Kinda weird but it's true!
27Both would be pretty embarrassing and I wouldn't call either or worst. Maybe it's just me but biological mishaps are not something I cry or would be mortified about. This is a bit TMI but I've stained the sheets the first night I was with my then-boyfriend, now-husband. And, well, he's lactose-intolerant so you get the picture. Lol. I guess I'm around people mature enough to understand such matters are just nature.
28both are horrible
29ugh...those are both sooo horrible. I think the toilet thing would be waaayy worse!! hahaha I would probably sneak out and try to blame it on someone else! hahah "Oh my gosh! The bathroom of flooded!!" Or just wait for someone eles to find it. lol I'm horrible.
30I have had the toilet happen, and it sucks. its way obvious and you have to deal with it - you can play off the sheets with either the boy or the mom and perform a washing quietly. Having people search for a plunger- not so much.
31Overflow - moms would understand the sheets I think
32stain the sheets definitely - although i also voted wrong thinking it was a "would you rather."
i would run to the store (if possible), buy the nicest, most $$ sheets closest to the ones i ruined, and then tell the mother what i did, after taking the soiled sheets off the bed and replacing them with the new ones.
33This!
34It's way harder to hide and clean!
Both are horrible though.
"this" has actually happened to me before.
35I felt so bad...
