Smells like Vatican spirit. We're told from the marketing copy that The Pope's Cologne, a "fresh fragrance from the past," has notes of violet and citrus, and I imagine, the more elusive notes of renunciation and piety. Some dude in San Rafael, California decided there'd be a run on the market for smelling like Pope Pius IX (1792-1878). You know, on second thought, he might have a marketing angle there. Given that the market is saturated with perfumes that suggest decadence, sin, and just plain skankiness (Dior Addict, Gucci Envy, and Paris Hilton's Heiress), maybe we need a little whiff of Pope-itude.
