When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid. -- Audre Lorde

Over the last year, what are the ways you've dared to be particularly powerful and strong? When you've been really in touch with that, has it been less important whether or not you're afraid?

having children forces you to be strong on every level. the first time i didn't agree with a doctor i felt so uncomfortable speaking up. who did it end up hurting; my child. i look at difficult/unpleasant tasks as something to check off my list. maybe it's sheer practice, but putting them off makes them more trouble to deal with later so i prefer to just go head on and get it over with. when you stop and think about this "what is the worst thing that can happen" if you do or don't stand up to a problem it makes it eaiser. you want a certain result and sometimes that is harder to do than you would like. but the end result makes it worth it. if someone is going to be unhappy with the situation would you rather it be you or the other person?
