After a very informal survey, I discovered that very few couples of my generation have created cute little pet names for each other. Has this sweet and intimate tradition between lovers become a lost art? Is cute dead? Please please please tell me it isn't true!
Thankfully, everyone I talked with seemed to remember affectionate nicknames between grandparents or parents, aunts and uncles. Here's the brief list I collected: Bubby, Pooky, Popie, Sweet Cheeks, Schweebers, Mama Bear, Chicomambasso, and Boo.

My boyfriend calls me ladybug and ladypants (he is called mattypants by his friends)

3my bf calls me this toad.... this started b/c we were watching the simpsons and it was the eppy where Homer finds the magic Toad and when he kisses it, he feels high and happy.... so my bf said, i'm his magic toad... and it just stuck....

My hubby sometimes calls me a shrew (like the little animal) because of
my fast metabolism. 
7I called my boyfriend "Mattbear" once just to be particularly heinous (he knew I was kidding) and it just sort of ended up sticking (his idea, not mine-- he started calling me Emmibear to be equally heinous!) It's sort of become a cute little joke between us.
Also, he calls me "Le Petit Chou" which in french means "My Little Cabbage" and I'm not sure why I find that so cute and endearing, but I do!

I call my bf Buttcakes. This happened because we were out to breakfast with my family and my SIL got buttermilk pancakes. When the bill came it was abbreviated to Buttcakes. We found it funny and I just sorta started calling him that.
He calls me Baby, not too original...

we call each other hootch (not sure why) and he calls me wife all of the time

15i call my bf "baby" or 'babe' but i'm not really sure why. he says the same thing back but only cuz i started calling him that first. i said this to my previous bf's so i guess it's just something i say to them?
but the one i really like is what my siblings call me: "sloth" because they say i'm lazy like one and 'runt' because i'm the youngest. my cousin calls me "lunchbox" because he says i'm always 'out to lunch.' hehe...i love my family!

17One of my exes called me his 'tarsier' (google it!) because of my big eyes.

25when we went to our engagement encounter (REQUIRED by the catholic church, his religion) they kept talking about treating your partner as if they were "the universe" to you. i thought it was so Corny that i started calling him "darling of my universe" right then. we still both use it. it's become so automatic that i don't even think of it. my youngest asked my a couple of years for a similar name, so she is "my most special baby" and it's automatic too. every once in awhile i'll use one of the names in public and i'll catch someone looking at me like "are you for real?" haha, kind of.
26we call each other bubba, it started when i kept saying goodbye like "buhhbye" and he just thought i kept saying "bubba" and now we just call each other that.
27I call my boyfriend Schnuffi because when we first started dating he showed me this little stuffed animal dog he had when he was little that he named Schnuffi. I couldn't help but call HIM that afterwards!! He calls me Baby, Little One, or Mama.
28My boyfriend calls me his vole-let. It's because prairie voles are monogamous and "let" is a way to make it diminutive. So I'm like a small monogamous prarie dweller. So odd how these things come about!

Well me and my boyfriend both call each other hunners, not sure where it came from?! He also calls me love muffin or butter cup...silly yes but i love it!

Evere since I can remember my hubby has been calling me the famous"hun" and "honey" and ever since my daughter has been able to talk that name has rubbed off on her...it is very rare u will here her call me mom it's usually hun or honey...

My boyfriend and I are nickname crazy with each other and all of our pets! We seem to come up with a new nickname everyday. He likes to call me sweet-pea, muffin, baby, I call him honey-bunny and baboosh. Our pets each have about ten nicknames...for some reason I like to call my dog "Mr. crazy shoes", and my smallest cat gets all the cute names like "tiny button".
38I tried calling my BF boobie one day, and he hated it. So I just call him amor. He calls me babe(nothing original) one of my exe's used to call me mama and he was papa, (we both liked the mama's and the papa's)

Google's Summer Internship logo has a little sun in place of the second "o", which I think is adorable. When I mentioned that, he said "You're my little sun..." then proceeded with an analogy of how I always bring brightness and cheer to him.
Also, we were watching Paul Potts sing "Nessun Dorma" on Britain's Got Talent (via youtube) and he called me his "prinipessa" (princess).
Normally, we go by tradition "hon", "honey", and "love". Also, for no real reason, the word "nup".

I call him "Smaskens". In norwegian, the sound of kissing is called a SMASK!
He calls me "Min schöna Fru". That's actually swedish, and means "my beautiful wife".

One day He called me Smalls.
I started calling him Bigs.
So yeah, we usually call that to each other. I find it very sweet and caring.
He's my Bigs and I'm his Smalls. =)
He often calls me his "Old Lady" when talking to friends and family! (even though I'm like 21 years old!! hahaha)
48my hubby calls me sweetie, but used to calll me scratch n' sniff cause he liked the way I smell, also used to call me was babydoll and lovebug after cutsie stuffed animal we had.
49I call my boyfriend "monkey" and he puts and erz at the end of my name, so it's Karinerz to him : D We also both have a huge love for bears, so he's my panda bear, and I'm his grizzly bear, lol.
