I gave you some great suggestions yesterday on how to tackle the second date, and one of the tips I lent was to just be yourself and skip the typical date-night salad and go all out. Not only will this show the real you, but you'll also be able to tell if you and your date are compatible in the eating department. I completely understand how most women wouldn't want to look like a pig while ordering a beer and a burger when trying to make a good first impression, but eating like a bird isn't a turn on either. So ladies, do tell, how do you usually order when you're on a date? Do you eat what you want or do you tend to scale down in order to look/act more like a lady?

Givenchy
Tommy Hilfiger
Alexander McQueen
Men have always found it sexy that I'm a beef and beer kind of girl.
1If there's a certain type of appitizer that I like, then I'd go for that. I usually order a salad with cut up chicken on top...MMMMM....
2I usually get pasta for the first date.
Becuase with salads, guy will think you are just trying to act like you don't eat enough wile quietly oeyeing his steak (my boyfriend says he HATES when girls order salads). And with steak, it's just a little too much for a first date if you ask me.
So pasta is a GREAT alternative!
3I usually don't order salads at a restaurant unless that's really what I want--so that applies to dates, too. I order what I want, I just make sure I don't stuff my face that early on in the relationship. Being a vegetarian means that there are *usually* healthier options. My boyfriend was impressed that I was able to (almost) finish 12 courses at our anniversary dinner last weekend. I had to plan for that though--not eat much during the day & go on a long run. I still always stress that I'm really hungry or I ran really far that day before I eat a lot in front of my boyfriend--I'm sure he doesn't care, but I still don't want him to think I'm a pig.
4I don't like salad that much, so I can't have that as a main course.
I eat what I want (burger/steak/etc depending on the restaurant we go to), on one condition: if I actually see some kiss in the near future (ie in the end of the date), I'd avoid onion or anything that will make my breath smell funky
5I order what I want. On my first date w/ my current BF I ordered hamburger/fries. I'll eat what i want to eat.
6Chicken caesar salad, light yet still filling.
7Whatever I'm hungry for. I do usually go for a cheaper meal if he's paying, though.
8I eat whatever I feel like. I'd never even consider basing the type of meal I eat on the fact that I'm with a guy.
On my first date with my boyfriend of 4 years, we shared a pot of Belgian mussels as an appetizer and then I ate a burger and fries.
9i 2nd that Whiplash. I eat whatever i feel like. If i feel like a salad i eat a salad. If the filet mignon looks good... i get that!
10I'll order anything that I won't ruin my outfit on the date. If it's a casual date, burger/fries and beer. Mmm...
11I wouldn't go totally light and order a salad, all the guys I know say they hate that, but I definitely wouldn't pig out either. something in-between like pasta is good- I'd just try to avoid garlic or cheese or onions...anything that makes your breath really awful.
12Exactly the same thing I would order if I were eating by myself or with friends...anything that sounds good.
13I should add that the only thing I'd be sure to consider is price. Even if the guy offers to pay, I would never order anything that is too expensive.
14I eat what I want. Self-denial makes me cranky, and that would make me a bad date anyway
Every guy I've dated has really liked that I'm not a salad-orderer.
15I eat whatever I am in the mood for I don't base my menu options on who I am with or who is paying.
16I eat what I want, with the exception of not ordering the most expensive thing on the menu, assuming he's paying.
Why would eating a burger and a beer make me look like a pig?
I know for a fact that my boyfriend loves how much I eat and how much I enjoy it.
17My guy and I usually order something in-between. We're both health freaks (he's a trainer and I'm a distance runner) so we stay away from anything too heavy and greasy (burger and fries) but we know that salad isn't the way to go either. I find that fish is great, especially if it comes with a side of potatoes or something filling. Chicken is a good choice as well.
18I eat what I want...usually I get steak or a pasta dish. I don't care what my date thinks about what I eat. As long as I don't scarf it all down and then burp afterwards.
When I first met my bf's parents they decided to have a bbq and his dad made a comment about how much I like to eat. Lol. He said it was a good thing!
Also a lot of my guy friends, and the guys i've been on dates with always mention its sexy that I order actual food. They hate it when girls order salads and then pick at it.
19I eat whatever the f*cking hell I want. Like many other girls already said, my experience has been that guys like a girl who eats, and that in fact it's a big turn on to see a girl with an appetite.
20Having a beer and eating a burger makes you look like a pig and gives a bad impression?!?? That's news to me!
The only thing I take into consideration is the price. Sitting in front of a guy isn't going to stop me from eating what I'd regularly eat.
I think that manners is way more important then the actual food choice.
21i'd order what ever i'd usually order. i don't really think differently because it's a date. i might money-wise, like i wouldn't order a super expensive meal if i knew he was paying, but i wouldn't be worried about what i was eating.
22I'll eat whatever I feel like except I would probably try to avoid garlic and onions. I wouldn't want to end up killing my date with my breath...that is,unless he turns into a jacka$$! haha
23ha! do you order garlic bread for dessert on bad dates, bluebellknoll?
24I pretty much only consider price if he is paying on a date. I LOVE to eat, so if a guy expects me to eat like a dainty little girl, I wouldn't be able to stay with him anyways!
My first date with my bf of almost 3 years, I had a personal sized 'cheeseburger pizza' and a beer. And I was not shy about ordering dessert! I'm not overweight or anything, but I love food, and if a guy isn't comfortable with that...he can get up and go! I'm not going to go along with a relationship that would result in dirty looks during my late night snack sessions.
25I would be embarassed to order a salad on a date. I don't eat out that much, so when I do I want to make it count! Give me a big ole burger and a mug of beer!
26depending on the restaurant, I'd order a salad. If it was at a pub or sports bar, probably something simple and not so messy.
27i usually order something italian like pasta but i understand that you dont want to look like a pig i wouldnt either, maybe when you get more comfotrable around the person then i would get it, salad makes you seem like you`re dieting and you`re not
28does anyone still think that eating salads or like you never eat impresses anyone? judging by the comments, nope. thats good. i order whatever looks tasty, no matter who i'm eating with.
29Plus, unless you order 2 entrees I doubt any guy is going to think you're a pig! That whole concept seems to have been invented by women.
30I order whatever I want that day. On one date it was a chef salad and after the date the guy told me to call him sometime whenever I was ready to have a *real* meal. I guess he wanted me to chow down even though I really *wanted* the salad that day.
31i avoid salads on dates anyway because i find it really awkward to eat. same thing with noodles at asian places (e.g. pho!). i try not to order the most expensive thing on the menu if i know the guy is paying. now that i think about it, i always try to order something that is right in the middle in terms of price range.
the thing is, i AM one of those girls that eats like a bird on the first date because i'm so freaking nervous. i get full easily as it is and being nervous doesn't really help with the appetite. i've gotten a lot of "flak" about it from guys in the past but if i start to get comfortable with him i am good with eating a lot more in front of him.
32I definately would eat what I wanted. My husband, being in the beef business, especially liked it that I was a steak girl when he took me out.
33This is such a stupid topic. Can you imagine men talking about what they should and shouldn't order in front of a girl... Well, man, I really wanted a steak salad, but will I he appear too "dainty"?
I happen to like salads a lot, and not because they are supposedly feminine. So if I ordered a chicken salad, it would be because I like them.. not because I'm scared he'd think I was a pig.
34I agree with others on the price issue. I'd try to stay mid range.
35I eat what I want but keep price and stink in mind LOL!
36i'll eat what i would eat normally. i would just steer clear of garlic and onions and for me i would steer clear of spaghetti, linguine and angel hair. i cant seem to eat those "properly" =P
37I order what I want to eat, on my first date with my current bf, I ordered a platter of buffalo wings with fries. He was impressed that I ate it all and even offered to get me dessert, but I was stuffed
so I declined. The only salad I order when I'm
on a date is potato salad.
38I get that guys hate it when a girl orders a tiny salad and then starts eating his fries or something, but I don't think that ordering salads is a bad thing on dates, I'd much rather eat a light healthy meal than a burger and fries
39brittb7 I was thinking the same thing!
40How shallow of a guy to actually not want a woman because she eats healthy...LOL
i say -eat what you want, just mind your manners. and stinky breath should be the least of your worries, what with all the food allergies that are out there now a days! you dont wanna order seafood if it'll make his face puff up after he's kissed you! lol.
41I eat what I would normally eat...whatever looks good to me....if a guy didn't like that then screw him I'm not trying to be someone else besides myself
42Being a strict vegetarian, my options are limited to begin with, but usually I'll try to order something that's EASY to eat as opposed to say, long noodles or a messy sandwich. I don't want to get food all over me or stuck in my teeth.
43I order what I want. However, considering it being a date with someone new, there are limitations to what I order. Such as not ordering something where I'll end up with garlic breath or having gas!
44I'm so comfortable in front of my boyfriend of 4 years that I order whatever I want when we go on a date...I try to keep the price reasonable though because he is always the one paying. In the beginning of our relationship, I usually stayed away from salads, long spaghetti, and huuuuuge burgers or sandwiches...just because I can't eat those things without looking like an animal!
45oh who cares? i order what i want. but i make sure its a reasonable price. i'm very skinny, but i eat like a pig, usually just as much or more than the guy haha
46I order whatever I feel like. I had a horrible 1st date yesterday. I spent the Easter break in hospital with a gastro virus and blood infection and I'm still not feeling 100%. I mentioned that I wasn't well and ended up in hospital over Easter to my date, to explain why I wasn't particularly bubbly, but didn't give the reason why (who wants to talk gastro at dinner??).
He looked me up and down and said "Oh... so you know there are some young women who starve themselves and make themselves so unwell just to be thin... it's really bad...". Subtle! I felt like banging my head against the nearest wall. I ordered a massive lasagne just to shut him up. I shouldn't have, because my tummy still isn't great and I shouldn't have felt the need to prove my capacity to eat to him but such a tactless assumption from a date really ticked me off!
Order whatever you feel like - if he has a problem either with your salad or your huge steak, that pretty much tells you all you need to know about him.
47I agree with most of the comments. I eat what I want on a date. Why should I pretend that I eat only salads etc. Any man thats around for the long-term is going to realise that I love to eat! (btw I do love salads).
48It never occurred to me to order food based on what someone else might think of me. Yay! One more thing to be self-conscious about.
49I love sushi dates! And if its one, usually sashimi (yellow tail, ahi or salmon) and a fun roll. Plus with sushi its usually about sharing, so if he likes what i want and i like what he wants, we can just share and its fun that way.
Non-sushi dates- probably a seafood salad. I can't help it, I love my salads, I don't care what he thinks. And mmm seafood.
I pretty much don't tailor my eating to being on a date, but I might think twice about something messy like lettuce wraps.
